Adoptions
facilitated by Lodestar Dog Ranch and previous owners/caretakers
Any dog listed here lived with his/her owner or caretaker until a new
family was found. The dog was spared the trauma of moving from place to
place with many adjustments. He or she could live at "home" until loving
new owners were identified from LODESTAR Dog Ranch's waiting list. Some new owners learned about the available dogs directly from this website and went to listed shelters to adopt.
Such facilitation does not have a fee, but any donations to the LODESTAR
Dog Ranch, a non profit; 501(c)(3) organization, are greatly appreciated.
Misty[ADOPTED] is 8 months old and an owner surrender to the westside animal shelter because her owners are losing their house. As it's been a week she's been available she is at the end of her time. She has entropy in her right eye which will require surgery. (COOPER's FUND can cover the cost.) Misty is a purebreed the owner obtained from a breeder. She spent her life outside. She is good with men, women and children. Contact Albuquerque Animal Control @ (505) 768-1975 ask about ID#A1567432
Big Dog [ADOPTION PENDING] is a 1 year old, 60 pound, male, black Lab. This guy wondered into a yard in Belen and made himself at home. But,unfortunately for the big guy, several other dogs had previously made their home there, so it's best he find his own place. This friendy guy gets along with other dogs, cats and kids. But, nobody's perfect. Big Dog has Masticatory Myositis. In words I could understand, he cannot fully open his mouth. This is a result of a infection. The vet has given him some steroid pills and he is showing significant improvement. Even if no improvement was shown he is fine with his condition. He eats and drinks with the best of them. A small problem for a big dog. (For information on Big Dog, please call 505-507-1844)
Sam (Img 5822) [ADOPTED] is a 6 year old owner relinquishment female yellow lab. Supposedly no behavior problems... they just wanted her to find a new home through the adoption center- a problem they are seeing way too often because people do not understand that it is still an animal shelter and they are still euthanizing 30-40 animals per day on some days.
URGENT REQUEST FROM EL PASO [BOTH ADOPTED]

This calm, laid back 2 Yr old male, lab/golden[ADOPTED] & purebred, female 1 yr old chocolate lab [ADOPTED THROUGH LOSESTAR] are due to be euthanized on Monday, 08/31/09 at Animal Services in El Paso unless someone adopts them... If someone is interested in them they need to call right away. Golden Retriever Rescue can help get them out and possibly arrange transportation wherever they need to go. GRR can be reached at 915-920-0958.
The Lab/Golden was adopted. Leaving only the sweet, young, female chocolate. Golden Retriever Rescue (good friends of Lab rescue) have pulled the choloclate out of harm's way. Now, we just need to find her a home. If history is any indication a young, female, chocolate won't be available for long.
Chloe[ADOPTED] is a sweet, 2-3 year old, spayed, chocolate Lab. She is too much Lab for her owner, at least a couple of walks and some ball throwing each day ought to tone her down. She gets along great with other dogs, cats and children. Chloe is blind in one eye, which bothers her not a twit. She needs to find a place quick because she is currently being fostered by a friend of the owner, and the friend has chickens. Chloe was caught with a chicken in her mouth. She didn't kill it but left one scared bird. Since she has had SO many placements (7) these last several months, it is important that she go into her permanent, loving forever and ever home.
Chloe's journey:
Her original family, the pound in Clovis, foster care in Clovis, then in ABQ, then another foster home in the east mts with her puppies, with owner and now with a friend from church. She is now located in Albuquerque. Anyone interested can contact: nmpets@yahoo.com .

Bella [ADOPTED]is a purebred, yellow Lab who is about 2-3 years old, from Clovis and is being fostered in Abq. She is good with kids, but not really aware of the smaller ones. She is great with other dogs male or female. Bella does not jump, chew or bark, and is fully house trained and spayed. She rides well in a car and does ok on a leash. Bella is a big lap dog who loves a good scratch and belly rub. She prefers to be inside and at your feet. Her foster family is located in Albuquerque. To come meet and visit Bella, please call 505-263-7819.
Tipp [ADOPTED]is an 18 month old, purebred, male, black Lab. He was being trained to work with the owner's blind grandaughter, but "best layed plans..." That didn't work out. Tipp is now ready to move on to a life of a companion Lab. He is good with kids, dogs, is microchipped, housebroken and neutered. Tipp is in Las Cruces, NM. For information please call 575-496-0534

This is Sadie,[ADOPTED] she's approx. 6 yrs old, sweet, loving and obedient. She's spayed and vaccinated, likes everyone she meets, gets along with other dogs and cats and loves to go swimming! When her beloved owner died she was given to the El Paso TX. Humane Society. A family adopted her, then 4 years later they abandoned her when they moved out of their house and left her behind! She stayed in the neighborhood waiting for her people to return. (I guess she couldn't comprehend the dark soul of some humans.) The neighbors fed her for 8 months, then for her good she was brought back to the Humane. Fate wasn't through with Sadie yet. She has Heartworm. Her case is very treatable, but she really needs a family that will will follow through with the heartworm treatment and be able to keep her low-key for a couple of months until she gets rid of those pesky worms. LODESTAR Dog Ranch can help with her medical expenses. Transportation from El Paso to anywhere in the state can be arranged.
Chloe[ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, 65 pound, purebred, black Lab. Her family just added a 3rd child, and there won't be the time for Chloe. Her owner recognizes how harmful the lack of time for an adult healthy Lab can be. So for Chloe's own good, he must sadly find her a new home. She is spayed and housebroken. She will walk without a leash, does not bark, climb or dig. Chloe loves to fetch and gets along with all other living creatures.
I think you can see what a good dog this is, so acting fast is recommended. For information on Chloe, please call 505-938-3795
WHY IS CHLOE STILL HERE? A MATURE, PUREBRED, HOUSEBROKEN, NEUTERED LAB WHO LOVES FETCHING AND HIS PEOPLE. WHAT MORE COULD A LAB LOVER ASK FOR?

Dingo[ADOPTED] is a 115 pound,2 year old, fox red, male, Lab. Life for this big guy, for over 1 1/2 years, has been one big itch. The summer time meant a loss of hair and pacing the floor all night long. Imagine how hard it is for a loving family to watch their dog hurt so much over such a long period of time. The family does not have the financial means to relieve Dingo's suffering. The meds are working well, but there is still more work to be done, and the big guy will be on some meds all of his life. The good news is the meds are not particularly expensive. Dingo is available for adoption. He is a big, untrained lover and will need a strong, experienced owner. (For information, please call: 505-417-1551) On site since 3/22/08

Bailey:[ADOPTED]
Female, Chocolate Lab w/ white on Chest, 3 Years Old, Large Size-100 lbs, House Trained, Obedience Trained, Up to Date Shots & Is Good W/ Kids & Dogs.
Bailey is a female Chocolate Lab and is on the larger side (Nearly 100 lbs.) and has always been a "Big Girl". She loves to cuddle, run, fetch a ball & play in the water! Bailey can play like a pup but is also sweet and lovey. She is even tempered and would be a great family dog! She needs a family with a lot of love to give and who will make sure she gets her exercise! Bailey knows several commands and is eager to lean new tricks! She would love to go camping and swim in the lake, lie next you and watch the kids play at the park, or enjoy a nightly family walk. She wants to be included not just as a dog but a part of the family. Bailey has a brother "Riley" (Yellow Lab) who she would love to share her new "forever home" with.

Riley:[ADOPTED]
Male, Yellow Lab, 3 Years Old, Large Size-75 lbs, House Trained, Obedience Trained, Up to Date Shots & Is Good W/ Kids & Dogs.
Riley is a medium size Yellow Lab who needs lots of exercise and room to roam! He is sweet and cuddly but would also be a great hiking or hunting buddy! Riley is a lover but also needs plenty of time to play, run around & be silly! He would do great on a farm or a home with some extra land or a big back yard. Riley knows several commands and will be eager to please. He is truly "Man's best friend" and will be a great companion to any family...especially one with school aged kids to wear him out! He is great with kids & dogs. Riley needs a family who will comit time and energy into daily walks and/or exercise. He enjoys the great outdoors and loves to run, play ball or frisbee and wrestle as long as he can come home and snuggle up next to you while watching TV.
Bailey and Riley[THEY WERE ADOPTED TOGETHER--GREAT!] have been together all of their lives, let's see if we can keep it that way. If they need to be seperated they can handle it. For information please call: Clovis,NM (575) 749-0705

Lil' Bit[ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, purebred, unspayed, female, purebred yellow Lab. She is an 80 pound, beautiful girl who has issues with her two lap dog housemates. So, maybe this is the time for her to find a home without little dogs. Lil' Bit has been outside (to keep distance between her and the little ones), but when she was inside she effectively used a dog door. She is not a digger, jumper nor barker. She has lived with toddlers and seems to tolerate cats. For information on Lil'Bit please call 980-2535
Note from the Valencia Shelter in Los Lunas. [ADOPTED]
" She is supposedly only about six months old (looks a bit older to me). Her owner brought her in because she bit him when he was pulling wire off of her. I didn’t have a handler to hold her so I went in the kennel and was able to get her to step back and sit with verbal and tap on the chest with my foot. No growling or fear shown. They won’t adopt to the general public because of the bite. They will have to arrange through rescue. Owner has the mother; the neighbors dog is the dad. He says she is Lab x Great Pyrenees. She is big, but looks mostly Lab."
This little/big girl is in a very dangerous situation. Her time is limited. My thought is when the owner, with whom she might not have had the best relationship, came at her while she was in pain, and she reacted. I guess dogs are not allowed to do that. If you are interested in knowing more about her or better yet giving her a loving home, call the shelter 505-866-2479 and tell them you're calling for the LODESTAR Dog Ranch. If you wish to contact us email lodestar@q.com

Eza[ADOPTED]is a 10 month old, 60 pound, purebred yellow, female Lab. A family situation is causing her family to have to go "back East" for an indefinited period of time, so it's best Esa find a new home. She is good with other dogs and your typical jumpy pup around kids. She is crate trained, microchipped, up to date on her shots and was just spayed (she is currently on antibiotics and is wearing a fashionable e-collar). Eza will need a good week of limited activity. For information on Eza call: 505-353-1519.

Buddy[ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year handsome Black Lab with a wagging cropped tail. He is joyful, loving, and energetic. He likes other dogs and all humans, especially children. He is the ideal family dog for hiking, camping, playing. Tomorrow, March 13, could be Buddy's last day because of overcrowding at shelter. We want him to find a loving home so he can bring his joy, love, and sense of humor to a lucky family or single human. This is a great dog. Please help us by giving him a happy life. Please call Maureen immediately at (505) 426-8203
Also please check out the Labs described below on this site. (below)

Yukon[ADOPTED]is an 18 month old yellow Lab -- a typical "Marley" - he is friendly with all dogs, but extremely high energy teenage lab. He is getting really frustrated in the kennels and is disturbing all the other dogs in the kennel. He is seriously stressed out in the kennels despite going out for playgroups and walks with volunteers. Yukon needs to move to a rescue or get adopted quickly.
If you are able to assist in any way, please let AHA know.(255-5523) Even a foster at this point would be beneficial for both Yukon and the animals in the kennels so he isn't stressing them out with all his antics. If you are out of state, AHA can work to arrange a transport to get him most the way to you.
Rudy [ADOPTED] is a 7 month old, purebred, chocolate, Lab pup. This pup was turned in at El Paso,TX because he was "too active." For information, please call 915-920-0958
EDGEWOOD, NM ANIMAL CONTROL

If you are interested in meeting this handsome, cautious but affectionate young man please contact us right away so that we may facilitate an adoption. His adoption fee is $75.00 and includes the cost of his sterility, A da2pp and Rabies vaccination and a free veterinarian exam.

Magnum was traveling with a litter mate. Foster[ADOPTED] is Magum's running/litter mate.

AHA had a chocolate Lab returned that had been adopted from them 2 years ago. Sienna[ADOPTED] (previously Queeny) is about 6 yrs old and 85 pounds--she should be about 15 pounds lighter. Her family had 2 other small dogs (doxie/chihuahua X) and Sienna didn't get along with either of them. AHA usually does not adopt out a dog that has been "aggressive" with another dog -- regardless of the circumstances. AHA is looking for either a foster or adopter for this girl. She needs a chance in a home w/o small dogs. She is very sweet.ID#5691
Molly[ADOPTED] is an adult, 65 pound, black Lab. Here is Molly's story:
My sister adopted Molly a year ago. She recently got married, started a new job and now they are having a hard time giving her the attention she needs and she is needy!... She is 5 years old.(Great Lab age!) She is crate trained, house trained, she is good on a leash. Shots are updated and she is chipped. She needs to be a single family dog as she is more of a people person and does not care to play with other dogs. She is learning to catch a ball and can fetch every now and then. She has learned to sit, stay and lay down...(For information please call 505-917-0572)

Emma[ADOPTED] is an spayed, purebred, yellow Lab. She is definitely a candidate for Jenny Craig, but it would be a fun project to get her back into good Lab shape. [ID#1552479 bldg.B #43]
Angus[ADOPTED] is a neutered, 4 year old purebred, black Lab. This handsome guy weights in at, my guess, close to 100 pounds of solid Lab. [ID#1552478 bldg. B#31]
Angus and Emma are brother and sister. Due to a major change in their family situation they were left alone at the "old" house while the owner moved. The owner returned each day to feed and spend time with them, but Labs need more attention than that so they would dig out and roam the neighborhood. Loose dogs their size scared the neighbors. Angus and Emma had to find a home, thus their move to the AACC.
Angus and Emma have been outside dogs. (But I believe all Labs have an inner Lab that wants to be in.) A big "no" to cats and chickens . White Emma and black Angus make a stunning pair.
It would be great if they were adopted together but in that case they may tend to feed off of each other and revert to their "roaming the neighborhood" personalities and will need a strong leader. If they go seperately it would give each of them a chance to develop new personas.
Angus and Emma have been adopted by the same person--there is a God!
PUPPIES, PUPPIES, AND MORE PUPPIES
ALL GONE
Mom is a purebred chocolate Lab. She was saved from the Clovis shelter a few weeks ago and brought to Albuquerque to find a home. Last night (12/8), unknown to anybody but Mom, she gave birth to 12 live puppies--chocolates and blacks. Her current foster home is not equipped to handle the load. What we need is a human family willing to foster this Lab family for 8 weeks.

12/10/08 UPDATE "We were able to find them a foster home. The mama has already been pre-adopted. However, we are looking for homes for the 12 babies. There are 4 females and 8 males...not too sure of the male/female colors yet. The potential adopters will have to complete an adoption application, sign a spay/neuter agreement, show proof of spay/neuter and pay a small adoption fee. The puppies that have not been adopted within the next 8 to 10 weeks will be sent up to Colorado Puppy Rescue. If anyone is interested in adopting the puppies, please have them contact 505-401-5994 or nmpets@yahoo.com." [ALL PUPPIES HAVE BEEN ADOPTED]
LABS IN DANGER

Alex [ID#25965] and Tyler(ADOPTED) [ID#25964] two adult, yellow, male Labs were found on the same day but in different places in Clovis, NM. They only have a couple of days before they are gassed to death. Any ideas? Clovis Animal shelter # is 575-769-7893.
ALEX IS SCHEDULED TO BE GASSED ON TUESDAY 1/20.
Alex has been adopted. Here is what his new family had to say:
"Poor guy, what a mess he is. He is an absolute love, but so undernourished every bone shows. He has infections in both eyes and ears, and an old injury to his left rear hip. He also only has one testicle, and an obviously broken and rehealed tail.
This guy is not going anywhere just yet - I think we've quite a few trips to the vet starting tomorrow. He has surely worked his way into my heart - I think it was the first look he took at me with those sad brown eyes. He has seen way too much pain for a pup just over one. My dogs so far are embracing him, and trying ever so hard to be gentle, he is so weak."
We intend to help with Alex's medical bills, to the extent we are needed, through Cooper's Fund. It is for dogs like Alex we are very grateful for donations.
Humphrey[ADOPTED] is a 6 month old, male, black Lab mix. He was found as a stray in Clovis and all attempts were made to find his owner, with no luck. His kindly rescurer lives in Albuquerque and brought Humphrey home with him. Now, we need to find him a home. Humph is good with other dogs, seems to be OK with cats. He knows basic commmands and is working on the housebroken thing. Humphrey needs more than a 4 foot fence to keep him safe.(For information on Humphrey please call: 505-450-7668)

Trianna[ADOPTED] is a 55 pound, 7 month old, female, yellow/white Lab. She is every bit the young Lab and needs a family who can live up to her energy. Owner's health, plus two other calm, adult dogs equals the need for another home for the more livelyTrianna. She is spayed,semi-housebroken, likes to "play" with other dogs, cats and kids. Trianna is not a digger (no more than any other puppy), jumper, nor barker. Trianna is in the Socorro, NM area. For information please call: 575-835-4835
Whisper [ADOPTED] is a 2-3 year old, purebred, yellow, spayed, female, Lab. This young lady is one of the breeder dogs (see above). She was adopted and her owner came down with unexpected health problems so Whisper found herself in a foster home where she is now. She has shown a tendence to bark when left alone in the yard, but has had no problem when she is inside with her people. Whisper loves to play with other dogs and her kennel-shyness is diminishing every day.

Meet Checkers... [ADOPTED] 10 year old Lab/ heeler mix. He has been with his current owner since he was a puppy but now his owner is battling cancer and having to sell his home and all his things. Sad thing is that his owner's children had told him he could bring his dogs, then changed their mind to one, and now he can't bring any of them with him to Houston to live out the rest of his life.
He is neutered but just needs to be caught up on some of his vaccines.
His elderly caretaker is depressed and upset about having to leave his dogs behind but is at the mercy of his children on this decision.
Dogs Deserve Better Rescue was contacted about his dogs' situations and vowed to find new, permanent homes/ sanctuary for his two loyal canines. One dog has been placed into foster care but Checkers is still living a lonely life in the backyard awaiting for someone to take him in. If refuge isn't found for Checkers before the house sells, he will be taken to the animal shelter and the Hobbs Animal Shelter is not the place for this sweet, gentle soul's life to end.
If you can help, please contact Amanda Green @ missbarnett05@yahoo.com. I am willing to drive a leg of transport to get him your way.
Cagan 2 year old, yellow, female[ADOPTED]
Horton 2 year old, yellow, male [ADOPTED]

Mira[ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, 65 pound, housebroken, spayed, female, black, stay in the yard type Lab/Border Collie mix.
Here is what her owners have to say about their girl:
"This is our dog Mira. Her mother was a pure bred lab but the dad was a mix. Mira is very social. She loves everyone dogs, cats and especially children and is very gentle with them. Her bark sounds tough but she really just wants to play. She minds well and knows many words. Mira loves to play soccer or go for walks. She will play fetch or do tricks. Please make arrangements to meet "the best dog in the world" who has lots of love to give. Since we are moving to Belize it wouldn't be a good place for her, so we need to find her a new loving home...."
While you are making up your mind, take a couple of minutes and give Mira a tummy scratch.

Taz[ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, 55 pound, female, chocolate Lab mix. Family divorce, as often happens, involves the trusty, loving family dog. Taz is spayed, good with dogs, (cats are an unknown), housebroken and loves kids. If you would like a Lab that will bark when Mr. Stranger Danger knocks on your door or drives up your driveway, Taz is your guy.

Sofie[ADOPTED] is a 3 1/2 year old, 65 pound, female, purebred yellow Lab. Sofie's family found themselves with too many dogs (and too few humans) to give the dogs the proper attention. They reluctantly are looking for a home for their girl. Sofie is spayed, housebroken and up to date with her shots. She's not too good with cats and has some issues with livestock and short fences, but is good with kids. Sofie has been with many dogs for a long time and may enjoy some alone time or maybe one male companion.
Fudge[ADOPTED]--female, chocolate Lab, 10 years old, laid-back, sweet with a distinguished gray muzzle. ID#A1545921 Bldg A#32
Toby [ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, 95 pound, neutered, yellow, male Lab. A change in his human friends' life situation leaves Toby looking for a new home. He is good with other dogs and loves kids. A more active lifestyle will help him shed the few pounds he could afford to lose. Toby is housebroken which makes it easier for him to do what he most likes to do--spend time with his humans.
Bailey [ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, 75 pound, purebred, chocolate, female Lab. This beauty was rescued from a not so desirable situation. Even with the neglect she endured she is a typical human-forgiving Lab. She is not a digger, jumper nor barker. Bailey is good with older kids, loves to play and not a big fan of cats. She is not spayed, but is looking forward to the experience.
Buddy[ADOPTED] is a 9 month old, purebred, 80 pound yellow/white Lab. His owner moved to a "no dogs allowed" apartment, which leaves Buddy looking for a place to hang his collar. He gets along wth other dogs, and kids. He has had no experience with cats. He know basic commands and loves to fetch. Buddy is anxiously waiting for someone to neuter him and he is semi-housebroken and would like to finish that activity also.

Jake and Bailey [ADOPTED] are 5 and 6 year old, 75 pound, purebred, yellow Labs. An unexpected, and pretty immediate, move by their owner leaves these two handsome Labs looking for a home. These guys (Jake--Male; Bailey--female) do not dig. jump nor bark. They visit the dog park regularily, and as you can see by the pictures Jake looks good in red and they both love kids, cats would not be treated so kindly. They are spayed/neutered and housebroken.
Bruce[ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, 55 pound, spayed, black, male Lab mix. There is probably some Pit in him. Sadly his first owners cut his ears with scissors. I guess they couldn't dampen the 100% Lab disposition in him and they wanted him to at least look tough. This guy has everything. He is neutered, housetrained and has had obedience classes. He is also crate and leash trained. His second owner had a life style change and Bruce didn't fit in. He was returned to his original rescurer where he is now. He is not a digger, jumper nor barker. Bruce is good with other dogs and older children.
For information on Bruce please call (505) 916-0093
Zoe, a 6 month old, pure bred yellow/white female, with all her shots, broke a record for the quickest adoption in 5 years of Lab rescue for Lodestar Labs. Her caretaker called in about 1:30 p.m. and by 4 p.m., Zoe was with her new owner, #1 on the waiting list, in a wonderful forever home with another Lodestar Lab alumnus as a playful companion. Enjoy your new life, Zoe!!

Dakota [ADOPTED] is a 4 year old yellow female Lab .She came in to the Artesia NM shelter as a stray. She was running with another Lab and he was hit by a car and didnt make it... Dakota is scared, but is with 2 other Labs and doing better now. She has a great love for water as soon as she got in my yard she went for the pool. (For information on Dakota, please call 575-746-0852 in Artesia, NM--240 miles from Abq.)
Darbie [ADOPTED] is an 8 year old, 80 pound (but she weighs 100), purebred, black Lab. Life requires a move by her owner and best friend of the last 8 years. This should not have to happen, but I guess life isn't fair. Darbie is housebroken, spayed, good with cats, kids and big dogs (she tends to knock over the small ones). She is not a barker, digger nor jumper. You folks looking for a good companion dog, check out Darbie.
Ben[ADOPTED] is a handsome Lab mix. He is about 4 years old and knows basic commands. He doesn't jump on you and has a calm demeanor. He gets alone well with girl dogs and is OK with the guys as long as he is the head guy. Ben has been chipped, has his shots, and is neutered.
(Ben is currently in foster with his rescuer, a vet.--that should give you an idea of how good a dog he is. For information please call Mary: 710-4731)
Maggie[ADOPTED] (Yes! Another Maggie.) is a 2 1/2 year old, 75 pound, female, black Lab. A personality clash with a Nufi means it's time for Mags to find a safer place to ply her Lab trade. She is spayed, housebroken, good on a leash and has lived with cats. Right dog, wrong place.
Goliath [ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, male, 85 pound, yellow Lab. Job changes within the family has this handsome guy looking for a new home. He is neutered, housebroken and loves kids. Cats we don't know about and he is an alpha male. Goliath could use a young strong owner who can give him the exercise he needs. He is not a digger, jumper nor barker.
Smilin Jack [ADOPTED] is a yellow lab mix we have in our shelter (Socorro, NM). This
dog is really cool and gets along with everyone. He is very outgoing,
playful, but not too hyper, and gets along with dogs fine. He is a
large dog, at least as big as a pure bred Lab and could stand to gain
10 pounds. I believe he is under 3 years old. He came in with a
collar/chain but is not chipped and has not been claimed...We would be happy to transport him.
Chase is a 10 year old, neutered, black Lab/ possibily Golden Retriever mix found as a stray in the South Valley. [BEING FOSTERED]
Here is what his "finder" has to say:
Chase has an awesome temperment and loves loves children. He doesn't bark and he knows commands such as sit, stay, and lay down and does them with simple hand gestures. He is good around other animals including cats. He is a true gentle giant. He likes to roll around on his back and likes his tummy scratched. He goes to the door when he wants to go for a walk and is leased trained. He does appear to be a little arthritic and is stiff when he first moves from laying down. This is not a major issue though: a little glucosomine would help him a lot. He likes to go for walks but can tire after about 30 minutes. If Chase does not find a home by PM 7/27 he will go to the Albuquerque Animal Humane.
Sampson's[ADOPTED] human has this to say about their 90 pound loverboy:
"Sampson is a German Shepherd/Yellow Lab cross. He is a very happy, loving and even tempered dog and loves everyone he meets. He loves kids and ignors cats (he even likes kids). He is two years old, chipped, neutered, and vaccinated. He loves to play and run. He is not a digger, jumper nor barker. My wife has developed an allergy to animal hair and dander and with our small house, there is no way to keep them separated. We love Sampson and only want a good family to adopt him."
Tag and Tank [ADOPTED TOGETHER] are two,1 1/2 year old, black, Lab mix brothers who, due to children acquisitions, found themselves looking for another family to play with. Both guys are neutered, housebroken, great with kids, indoor cats and enjoy the company of dogs their size or larger. They do not jump, dig, nor bark. (Once a gate was left open and they left the property, got scared and came home.) Tank has a typical young Lab energy, Tag has an "old soul," and is calmer.
It would be great if Tag and Tank could go together, but they can go their own way for the right homes.

Cheetah[ADOPTED] is a 7 year old ,purebred black. Apple [ADOPTED]is a 3 year old, purebred yellow. Sahara[ADOPTED] is a 7 year old, yellow. All three were dropped off at the shelter in the dead of night by a Lab puppy mill. They were through with them. All are now spayed, housebroken, good on a leash, good with other dogs and cats. It's about time these good Labs have a home they can be proud of.
Apple adopted by site visitor.
Hunter [ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, yellow, 80 pound, purebred, male Lab. As too often happens in a family the human's job circumstances change and the time needed for a great dog is not there. This is a tough call for the owner, but it needed to be made. Hunter is great with dogs cats (check the picture) and kids. He is neutered, housebroken and has all the basic skills. Hunter is in Gallup NM.
Crystal [ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, female, yellow/white Lab. She has been at the Albuquerque Animal Care Center since 6/8. Following is a volunteer's comments on her.
"The kennel staff asked me to see if I could find someone to rescue this girl. She's got a sweet nature somewhere inside, and I believe the right person could bring it out... She wants to have a connection with humans but just doesn't know how to go about it. She's big and beautiful..almost white in color, with the nice big lab head."
Crystal is painfully shy. Maybe she was raised in a cage --- her whole life spent away from people. She was turned in to the shelter as one of many Labs brought in this year by a man from southern New Mexico. Can you and your family help Crystal learn people are worth loving.? ID#A1533801 Eastside
Crystal is a project. We have had Labs like her at the ranch before. They really don't know how to be a Lab (or any kind of dog for that matter). Crystal's new owner needs to have patience and love the challenge. That first time she comes up behind you and licks your hand you'll know it was worth it. I (Tom Payne) have spent time with this sweet girl. If you would like to know some more, give me a call @286-3729)
Honey[ADOPTED] is a 3-4 year old yellow, 85 pound, purebred, female, full of life Lab.Honey's previous person moved and left Honey. Her foster mom, who took Honey when she most needed someone, decided Honey needed a home with more exercise and a more active family than they could give. As most young Labs go, they require more than love to be happy and healthy, they need exercise! Honey is spayed, housebroken gets along with other dogs and has shown the ability to squeeze through a small dog door to be with her people. This is one sweet dog who has been bounced around. It's time for this beauty to find a home.

Boone(pictured)[ADOPTION PENDING] is an 95 pound, male, 4 year old, yellow/white Lab. Changing family circumstances has Boone looking for a new home. This big guy likes other dogs, enjoys the thrill of the chase with cats and loves kids. He has good basic skills, walks well on a lease, is neutered, housebroken and will play longer than you can. Maybe even a good hunting Lab What's not to like about this guy?
Jack O'Neal[ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, yellow, 85 pound, purebred, male, Lab. He was found a couple of months ago as a stray in Valencia county. He is neutered, housebroken and a super sweetheart. If you like to give good belly scratches Jack's your man. Jack is good with other dogs, and loves kids, it is believed he would be OK with cats. One consideration--Jack is nimble, Jack is quick. He has been known to find his way over a 6 foot wire fence so let's go with a 6 foot cinderblock, wood or no fence. When he does get out he doesn't go anywhere, he just wants to show you he can do it.
PUPPIES! PUPPIES! [BOTH ADOPTED]Two purebred, chocolate, females, 20 pound, sisters looking for a home. Come from good hunting stock. These two beauties are 3 months old and have had their first two sets of puppy shots. These girls will go really quickly.

Emily and Bear [BOTH ADOPTED] are brother and sister 10 month old, purebred chocolate Labs. Owner realized she should not have taken on 2 Lab pups. Emily is spayed and currently available for adoption. (For information on Emily please call: 575-746-0852 in Artesia, NM)
Curley Sue [ADOPTED] is a 75 pound, 1 year old, black, female, Lab/Golden mix. A combination of moving to a smaller place and a active young Lab means Curly is looking for a new home. She is spayed, microchipped, housebroken, good with other dogs and kids. This is a good dog who just needs to find the right active person or family.

Omni[ADOPTED] is a male, 20 pound, 4 month old, black Lab. This is a son's dog. Son moved and left his pup with Mom and her 3 other dogs. Mom said, "Thanks, but no thanks." Omni is a sweet dog, neutered, semi-housebroken and loves other dogs. It's anticipated he would also likes cats once he discovers they are not furry, wind-up pup toys. (For information please call: 280-8035)
Paisley [ADOPTED] is a spayed, female, 75 pound, 4 1/2 year old, purebred, black Lab. She doesn't get along with one of her canine housemates. The owners feel Paisley is a real good dog and would have a better chance to find a good home than her nemesis. She is OK with other dogs, kids and no experience with cats. She has a sensitive stomach and will tolerate only certain brands of dog food. Paisley knows basic skills, is crate trained and housebroken.
Good age, good dog.
Gabby [ADOPTED] is a 6-8 month old female, yellow Lab found as a stray in the Carlsbad area. Sweet, sweet thing. (For information please call the LODESTAR Dog Ranch @ 505-286-2729)
Blue[ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, 80 pound, black, female Lab. Family found Blue wandering the streets and took her in, but a move to a new home created a urgent need to get Blue in to her own place. She gets along well with dogs, and loves to play with the family's 4 kids and shows a friendly interest in cats. Blue is semi-housebroken, not spayed and crate trained.
BooBoo[ADOPTED] is a 4-6month old, male, 50 pound, black Lab. A kind family with plenty of dogs of their own found this good natured, handsome guy looking for a home. Boo is not a digger, barker nor jumper. He is working on this housebroken thing, is not neutered, good with dogs, cats and kids
Chevy[ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, 75 pound, yellow/white, purebred, male Lab. Family move to smaller quarters leaves Chevy odd-man-out. He is not a digger, barker nor jumper (anymore so than any other young Lab). He is good with dogs, finds cats "interesting" and great with kids who can take the love and affection of a Lab "pup." Chevy is not currently neutered. (New owner will be strongly encouraged to change that situation.) He is crate trained and semi-housebroken.

Buddy and Buster [ADOPTED TOGETHER] are two male, black Lab mixes. Mom was a chocolate Lab and Dad a German Shephard. (They were very much in love.). Buddy and Buster are 1 year old and tip the scales at 70 pounds. Their owner's life is busy and the boys don't get the attention everyone would like to see them have. They are both neutered, 90% housebroken, good with other dogs and enjoy the thrill of the chase with cats. They love kids who have good balance.
IT WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE THEM GO TOGETHER, BUT THE OWNER WILL LET THEM GO TO SEPERATE GOOD HOMES.
Graham[ADOPTED] is an 8 month old, 65 pound, chocolate, male Lab. The youngest member of Graham's family does not appreciate Graham's exuberant, loving personality. This is your typical young Lab. He is housebroken, but not as yet neutered. He get's along with other dogs and enjoys the fun aspect of cats. Right dog, wrong place.
Honey [ADOPTED] is a 75 pound, 3 year old, yellow, purebred, female, Lab. Family situation causes this doll to need a new home. Honey is a wonderful dog, leans towards submissive, but not overly so, very eager to please, gets along well
with other dogs, loves children is spayed and housebroken. One more thing, Honey has heartworm. She needs a family to help her heal. The expenses will be cared for, but her new family will need to keep her "low key" for 4-6 weeks. If you think you can do that, you are a month and a half away from having a first class, purebred, female, yellow Lab.
Hope[ADOPTED] is a 6 month old, female, 35 pound, black Lab mix. Through various job transfers Hope found herself out of a place to live. She is not as yet spayed. (A life's experience hopefully in the near future.) Hope loves and gets along with kids and other dogs and is semi-housebroken.
This is Molly.[ADOPTED] She will be coming to Rescue, and we will foster her until we all can find her a good home. The prior owner adopted her from Animal Control. They need to relinquish her, because they are moving and cannot take her with them. She is spayed and up-to-date on all of her shots. She loves children, other dogs and cats. Rescue personnel who have personally met her say she is wonderful, and she will make a loyal companion for the right family. (For informantion please call: 575-437-8633 or cell Phone: 575-442-2677)
Kelly[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, female, chocolate Lab. She is only 1 year behind in training, but she's a quick learner.
Randell [ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, male, yellow Lab. Typical Lab pup, high energy, loves his food and his people.
Sally[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, recent momma, yellow Lab who was basically thrown out when ther owner was done breeding her. She is a sweet thing. Currently at the Moriarty shelter.
Here are two Labs that came into Artesia last week.[BOTH ADOPTED]. The yellow Lab (Ike) is a male about 8 months the fox red female (Tina) is about the same age. (For information please call:575-513-0294)
Abby[ADOPTED] is a 1-2 year old, female, yellow Lab. This sweet, calm girl was found as a stray. She still has a few days to wait to see if her owner will turn up, but I would strongly suggest you put a "hold" on this beauty because she will not last long.(Contact the VCAC at 505-866-2479. ID#92)
Angel is a 1 year old, black Lab. She was found as a stray in Bosque Farms with a male black Lab partner. Both dogs appeared feral. They were captured and brought to the Valencia County Shelter in Los Lunas. The male was euthanized. Angel was spared because the day after her arrival she gave birth to 8 pups. If a foster was not found, the whole family would have been put down. Along came a savior. Now Angel and her pups are all healthy and available for adoption in about 7 weeks.
Angel is beautiful, sweet but still feral. She is afraid of everything and everyone. She is very thin--she gave all she had to the pups. We are going to work with her, but at best she will need an experienced, patient owner. If the right owner is not found, her future is in doubt.
PUPPIES are 6 black, 1 chocolate and 1 yellow. They look very Labby, but coloring on their feet (i.e. chocolate has 2 white front paws) indicate there may have been a couple of dads involved. Pups will be ready to leave mom late January '08. (For more information on Angel and her pups call LODESTAR Dog Ranch @ 286-3729)
THE WHOLE FAMILY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Molly[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, 65 pound, female, black Lab. Molly's owners are moving to a "non-dog friendly" environment, so it's best Molly make a move herself. She is spayed, good with dogs and kids, cats are an unknown--but Molly loves all living creatures, and cats fit in that catagory. She was housebroken but has been outside of late, but that skill is like riding a bike. Great Lab age.
Spinelli [ADOPTED] is a 9 month, male, yellow Lab (probably a mix). This handsome bugger needs a forever home. He is happy, friendly, house trained, crate trained, good with other dogs, kids, no experence with cats. He is not a digger, jumper nor barker. He is not neutered. (As yet--right?) A really good dog who has already been through three homes - through no fault of his own! Spinelli is a very sweet dog who would make a wonderful addition to anyone's family.
[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, 80 pound, black Lab mix. The young age of the children and the young age of Jack isn't the best combination. This handsome guy is neutered and housebroken. Jack plays a bit rough and may be able to use some remedial training.
[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, 60 pound, male, black, Lab. Tragedy turned Chopper's family's life upside down leaving little time for an active Lab. It's best that he find a new home. He is neutered, was housebroken but has been outside of late. He gets along with other dogs, loves kids and has no experience with cats
[ADOPTED] is a 6 1/2 year old, 80 pound, male, black, Lab. Death of his owner has this handsome guy looking for a new home. He is not a digger, jumper nor barker. He gets along with other dogs, cats and kids. Cesar is housebroken and neutered. The only problem Cesar has is that he doesn't have a home.
Ellie[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, 50 pound, black (with chocolate highlights), Lab mix. She was found as a stray in the Albuquerque area. Ellie is one of those rare young Labs who has an "old soul." She loves to ride in the car with her head on your lap, she is good on and off leash and went to work with her rescuer. Ellie had passed the "test" for being adopted by a nursing home, so that should give a good idea of her disposition. She is good with other dogs and with kids. (For more information call LODESTAR Dog Ranch @ 286-3729)
[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 80 pound, female, yellow, purebred Lab. Family disagreement over the "cuteness" of an active young Lab necessitates a new home for Goldie. She is good with dogs, cats (as you can see) and kids, was almost housebroken, but has been outside the last year (relearning should not take long). This beauty could use a large yard with an active owner and no chickens.
Chewie[ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, female, chocolate Lab. She has been at AACC since 12/11. She is now available for adoption. Eastside ID#1520040
[ADOPTED] is a 10 month old, 40 pound, female, black, Labradoodle (designer breed of Lab and poodle). Young Lab energy is not compatable with spending her days in her trucker owner's cab for the long hauls. Joplin is good with dogs, loves people and hasn't been around cats. She is housebroken and up to date on her shots. This is her picture taken just about 1 month ago when she graduated from her 1st course of pet training at Petsmart. This is the first Labradoodle we have had on this site. I don't expect her to last long.
[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, 40 pound, purebred, female, yellow Lab. An operation has left Sweetie's owner unable to give her the attention she needs. This beauty is housebroken, spayed, gets along with kids and dogs and has not as yet met a cat. She is not a jumper, barker, nor digger. Right dog, wrong situation.
Jack (pictured) [ADOPTED] is 7 to 10 months old. Neutered and up to date on shots. He likes kids and other dogs and cats. He was an owner release to the Carlsbad Shelter with no info. He has no manners and is he is high energy. We did say he's a young Lab didn't we? Jack was brought to AHA on 10/17/07, we're waiting for more information. ID# A135493
[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, 70 pound, purebred, yellow Lab. Tragedy struck Roco's family, now it's best he start his lif over. He is neutered, housebroken, good with dogs and kids, and loves to chase cats. This will be tough for the family to say good bye to Roco, but they know it is best. Sometimes best isn't easy.
[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 85 pound, purebred, yellow Lab. This pretty girl was found as a stray wondering down a highway in the Los Lunas area supporting an embedded collar. Many attempts were made to find the owners. (Thankfully, they were not found.) Cory's rescurer loves her, but cannot keep her. Cory is good with dogs and kids, not so good with cats. She is housebroken, uses a doggy door and is up to date on her shots. She could use a 6 foot fence to keep her safe. It is not known if she is spayed.
Sara,[ADOPTED] is a 5 month old, chocolate Lab lady recovering from parvo. She lived off a dumpster before she was rescued. Even when she was so sick she would wag her tail at anyone coming to see her. (Maybe Lab semaphore for HELP ME?)Sara is now available for adoption. (For information please call: 505-746-0852.)
Owner's words:
Honey [ADOPTED] is a 9 years old, yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix. This sweet girl was found wandering the streets in Alamogordo. She is good with kids and other dogs, she rides well in a car and is good on a leash. She was scheduled to be put down--some things just aren't right. All Honey wants is to be a good companion. (For information please call: 505-443-2419)
[ADOPTED] is a 15 month old, neutered, microchipped, male, black Lab mix that I got from the alb pound. When i got him in february I had ample time to work with him. He had been in a cage most of his 8 months at that point. He is such a great Lab but I have since opened my own business and do not have ample time needed for him... Its not fair to him. I want to find him a home where he will have an owner that can give him what he deserves "time" He needs a fenced yard though. He is very freindly (overly sometimes) but is extremely intelligent. He still has the Lab chew issue however, that needs work. Couper needs to be where he can do what Labs do and right now he is not in that place...I love him dearly that's why I need to find him a home where he is the center of attention.... PS. he isn't the bravest Lab in the world he can get up on top of his dog house he just can't get down and he has to be "rescued," goofy boy he is.
[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, male, 90 pound, purebred, yellow Lab. Zeke has everything you would want from an adult Lab; he is neutered, housebroken, good with other dogs, loves people--big people. That's the reason Zeke needs another family. A baby arrived, Zeke wasn't consulted, they don't get along. This is a right dog in a wrong place. Get on the list for this guy, he'll go fast.
[ADOPTED] is a 9 month old, male, 50 pound, purebred chocolate Lab. Lab energy and family time to work with that energy are not equal. So Mr. Hershey would be better off in a more active situation. He is currently not neutered and he has been an outside dog. Both conditions are correctable and for the good of Hershey and society he should be neutered, and for the good of Hershey and his new family he should be able to spend some time inside. This is a sweet dog who loves all things Lab-- water, dogs, cats, kids (as bowling pins) and some things not Lab, like rabbits (he was even cought kissing a rabbit! Please do not tell the Lab union about that.) Hershey enjoys camping and hiking and is good on and off leash.
Chewy[ADOPTED] is a 7 month old, purebred, AKC registered, yellow Lab. He is a typical young Lab. (Maybe that's why the name?). He is microchipped and up to date with his shots. He will be a big blockhead.(For information please call: 505-746-0852)
Smokey[ADOPTED] is a little black Lab boy with one tiny white spot in his chest. He is about 3 months old (He has been to the vet and declared healthy), and he is working on housebreaking and is crated at night. Smokey is very sweet and calm for a puppy.(For information please call: 505-443-2419)
[OFF TO DRUG/BOMB TRAINING--CONGRATULATIONS LUCY!] is a 1 year old, 65 pound, female, purebred, registered yellow Lab. Lucy has all the energy of a young Lab, plus some from another Lab. She could use an active family with time to devote to "expressing" some of that energy. This is a beautiful Lab who gets along with other dogs. Cats are an unknown and she likes kids, but they have to enjoy being knocked around a bit. Lucy is not spayed (a condition which the new owners must swear on the head of their first born to change). She is semi-housebroken.
[ADOPTED] is a 8 month old, male, 50 pound, purebred chocolate Lab. Lab energy and family time to work with that energy are not equal. So Mr. Hersey would be better off in a more active situation. He is currently not neutered and he has been an outside dog. Both conditions are correctable and for the good of Hershey and society he should be neutered, and for the good of Hershey and his new family he should be able to spend some time inside. This is a sweet dog who loves all things Lab-- water, dogs, cats, kids and some things not Lab, like rabbits (he was even cought kissing a rabbit! Please do not tell the Lab union about that.) Hersey enjoys camping and hiking and is good on and off leash.
Sugar[ADOPTED] is an 85 pound, tall, muscular, 1 1/2 year old, yellow Lab mix (possibly with Great Pyrenees)Sugar came to the Artesia NM shelter as a stray, adopted and brought back because she wouldn't play with their kids. (In many circles a calm Lab is a good thing!) Sugar was transported to Albuquerque and was fostered then adopted and is again looking for a home because she "chewed on things" Sugar, as you can see, has a great Lab look. She loves water, doesn't jump up, likes some cats some of the time, and gets along well with other dogs. She is up to date on shots, recently groomed and microchipped.Sugar doesn't appear to be house trained (that chewing thing) or know any commands. We're not sure if she has been spayed. Thes are a few minor issues which when cared for will result in a great addition to your family.
Chopper[ADOPTED] is a 18 month old, purebred, yellow, female Lab. As most young Labs her mouth is getting her into trouble. She is eating the owners desert turtles. If you don't have turtles, this girl might be for you. Chopper is good with other dogs, and kids. It's believed she would also be good with cats. (Unless they were sitting on a turtle.) Chopper is currently not spayed, which will be changed quickly, right? With all the good things this pretty girl has going for her she has also been started for hunting. (Chopper is in Las Cruces. For information please

Harley [ADOPTED] is a 4 month old, female, chocolate Lab mix. She is good with other dogs and likes kids, is very smart. We will tell you more when we learn more. (For more information call: 505-746-0852)

[ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, 70 pound, spayed, female Lab mix. She is very well behaved, house trained and has the true loving Lab spirit. She loves fetching her ball, and going to the park. Sugar is good with cats and kids and plays well with other dogs, with one exception, the dog she is living with. Because of this "personality conflict" it's best she find another home.
[ADOPTED]is a 3 year old, 70 pound, male, pure and papered, yellow. New babies and job travels make it impossible to give Henry the attention he deserves. Henry is not a barker, digger nor jumper. His layed back disposition makes him good with other dogs and kids of all ages, cats are an unknown. (He just looks at the neighbor cats sitting on the fence, so he mustn't see them as his next meal.) He is currently not neutered, but would very much like to be. He is semi-housebroken and being a quick learner Henry will soon be out of the "semi" category.

Amos[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, male, chocolate Lab. Due to illness and a move the owner was desperate enough to ask that Amos be put down. No can do. We are boarding him until we can either get him up to Albuquerque or get him adopted. His owner said that Amos loves kids, dogs, and water she said he was a good dog never jumped the fence.
Bonnie[ADOPTED] is a female, about 2 years old. She must have had a litter of pups because she still has milk. So far what we can say is that she likes other dogs and kids, and she has a great love for the water. Bonnie lays in the pool and will chase the water hose as long as you will play with her. (For information please call: 505-746-0852)
PUPPIES! PUPPIES! PUPPIES![ALL ADOPTED][

A Clovis young Lab got herself in a "family way." The results are five 6 week old pups of various colors. It's not known who/what dad is, but he must have been pretty Labby because the kids would not be mistaken for anything else. If you want to get on the list that is sure to be long, call 718-874-6162.

Dallas,[ADOPTED] yellow, 11 month old, purebred, male. This dog is a rare find. We at the LODESTAR Dog Ranch brought him up from Artesia and had some time to be with him. Dallas is a great dog who discovered he can leap tall buildings in a single bound. So, it looks like what he needs is an 8 foot fence, or no fence. Sadly, this will make him harder to adopt so if you have a way to keep him safe please consider giving him a chance.ID#A131229

Brie's family tells about their little girl:
"Brie[ADOPTED] is a 5 month old yellow Lab (born Jan. 22). She is a great dog and very loveable. She's still a puppy so she's learning how to be with kids and other dogs (loves them both a little too much). We have trained her as much as she can and given her boundaries and discipline (not a wild or spoiled dog) as well as boundless amounts of love and devotion. She's extremely bright and quick to learn. Loves chasing the ball and playing and is full of energy. She's housebroken, spade and up to date on shots. As a puppy she needs to continue with consistent training and love. Since she's always been with a dog companion since birth, ideally her new home would have one too. Our professional lives have changed in such a way that we are required to travel most of the year and can't take care of her the way she needs. We sadly release her to another family who can give her the life she deserves."
[BOTH ADOPTED] are two neutered, 4 year old, Lab brothers. These two handsome buggers are looking for a new home. Their current owner calls them the best dogs he has ever had. They do not have a fence and a neighbor is afraid of dogs. Our boys like to go next door and wish them a good day--not appreciated. Elijah and Macabee are housebroken, microchipped and great with other dogs, cats and kids. These two must go together and there will be a waiting list
is an 11 year old, female, black, Lab. Pepper's owner is moving to a non dog friendly apartment and must give up her friend of 11 years. Pepper is in good health, she is spayed, housebroken, good with dogs and kids but has had no experience with cats. Yes Pepper is old and may only have a couple of more years left but that could be a couple of good years as your best friend.

Jack of all Trades[ADOPTED] was found with his sister as a stray in Edgewood and was taken in by a kind family who would have liked to keep them but as luck would have it they were in the process of moving and could not take dogs. The owner then appeared and took back only the female leaving Jack looking for a home that could love a beautiful black guy. Jack is a purebred, papered, neutered, sweet Lab who has everything but a home. (For information please call: 281-5437)
[ADOPTED] is a 3 1/2 year old, 50 pound, female, black, Lab. Owner's health has curtailed the exercise, and as importantly, the attention this active Lab needs. Buffy is spayed and housebroken, but has not been in the house much recently. She should be OK with other dogs and kids with good balance. Cats are an unknown. Buffy's social skills are eroding daily and the owners know they need to get this girl into a place soon where she can run a bit and be cuddled for all she is worth.(For information please call:265-5947 or 250-6695)

- Cleo [ADOPTED] is an 8 year old, 90 pound, female, yellow/white, pure Lab. This beautiful girl's owner's health does not allow Cleo all the attention she deserves. This is your perfect adult Lab. Cleo is housebroken (definitely a house dog), spayed, loves water, good with other dogs, cats and kids. She is not a digger, jumper nor barker. Cleo is in very good health and I can't say enough about a Lab at ths age. Cleo is a keeper. She currently resides is Las Cruces and the owner is willing to work with a good home on transportation. For information call: 505-526-8770
[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, 60 pound, female, yellow, purebred Lab. The death of Lilly's human dad created some dramatic shifts needing to be made in the family, making it hard to meet the needs of a young Lab. Lilly has the whole package. She is spayed, neutered and microchipped. She is not a digger, jumper nor barker, loves to fetch, knows basic commands, is crate trained, gets along with other dogs, loves kids with cats an unknown.
Jake,[ADOPTED] chocolate, 8 month old, male
br>

- Ruby [ADOPTED] is the Momma, She know basic commands and is pretty laid back. Ruby's little boy is Max.[ADOPTED] He is very active and does not know any commands.Mom is about 4 and her sonny boy is about 10 months old. They have both been "altered," are heartworm free, and up to date with their shots. They were boarded in Roswell, but they were in different pens and Max could not take being away from Ruby. They couldn't put them together so they were rescued and are currently together in Artesia. Let's try to keep them together--two purebred, sweet, housebroken yellows. Think about it.(For more info on these guys, call 505-513-0294)
r>
[ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, 70 pound, female, black, Lab. Owner is moving to an apartment which only allows cat-size dogs so Daisy will need to find another place to spread her Lab-love. Daisy is--get all this--spayed, housebroken, good with dogs, cats and kids, not a jumper, digger nor barker. All that that's wrong with this girl is she doesn't have a place to live after 6/1/07.

[ADOPTED] is a 2-3 year old, male, black, Lab. This guy was found one month ago as a stray in the East Mountains. There was no luck finding the owner, so he was taken in by a family who tried to keep Jake outside within a wire fence and found this guy can climb wire with the best of them. They gave up on him. He is now at home with another neighbor who has a doggy door and access to a Lab's prize possession--people. So far he has shown no inclination to leave.Jake is good with other dogs, is not neutered and is semi-housebroken.
is a 10 month old, 60 pound, neutered, black Lab mix. (Weimeraner is a good bet.)
Here is what Zeke's owner has to say:
"Zeke[ADOPTED] is up to date on all of his shots. He is crate trained and housebroken. He definitely travels very well in a car. He is good with other dogs and okay with cats. Zeke has been around my 3 yr. old daughter and gets along great with her even though he is still a bit clumsy with his body. He is an active dog and would do very well with an active family/ individual and even other playmates..."Zeke is in Las Vegas, NM (For information please call: 717-793-1375)

Ellie [ADOPTED] is a 6-7 year old, 65 pound, purebred, yellow Lab. Ellie is spayed, housebroken, microchipped and up to date on her shots. She is an alpha female, good with kids. This girl has everything you could want in a Lab, She is on thyroid meds and doing very well ID#130409
Here is what her foster Mom has to say:
"Ellie is a family loving inside purebred yellow female spayed lab who wants nothing other than to be happy and smile. A couch potato is her preferred style but she will be playful when outside. Is super duper housed trained... She's a good size female Lab, kind of goofy happy go lucky nothing bothers her kind of look. If she were mine, she would be called Goofy. She turns out to not be so dominant as we were led to believe. During the day she runs free with my rotty mix. She is my most dominant dog and they play together fine.
Ellie is aggressive around food with other dogs, but not people. Good with kids. Big deep bark, but only when barking at strangers. Friendly with everyone immediately. Tail never stops wagging. She has a slight limp in one front leg. Maybe some cruciate deterioration, maybe nothing. Doesn't slow her down, but no jogging or hard exercise. Perfect family animal."
[ADOPTED] is a 6 month old, female, black Lab. Susy is great with other dogs, cats and kids--She's just not so good with wiring, remote controls and other human "chew toys." This is your typical curious young Lab who has not been taught what young Labs need to be taught. She has not been spayed and has not been invited in to her owners home. This is a Lab in progress. With a little patience you can have yourself a great dog.

Mya (AKA Cuddles)[RETAINED BY OWNER] and Marley (AKA Foxy)[ADOPTED] are two, 13 week old, yellow Lab sisters. They've had three boosters at our vet clinic - they just need the last one in about 2 weeks. The owner was not able to keep them and she really wants them to go together- it broke her heart to
art with them, and she feels they'd do best if they had each other for
company. They are wonderful - almost housebroke - sleep through the night - and SWEET dispositions! Marley is lighter than Mya- they're the best of buddies, but they also play hard together. Needs to have room to run, but then anyone wanting
a Lab knows that. The girls are in Clovis, NM. (For information please call:505-693-1595)

- Rascal [ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, male, 70 pound, purebred, papered, neutered, yellow Lab. Rascal is a typical young Lab whose energy level doesn't fit into owner's lifestyle. He is neutered (Rascal, not the owner) and has been basically an outside dog, which is not Rascal's idea. Rascal is good with other dogs, likes to "play" with cats and his playfulness can be hard on kids who can tip over easily. Rascal has an eye situation which makes him a bit sensitive to bright sunlight, but since he will not keep his sunglasses on, he has learned to adjust. The present owner is going to get a more definitive diagnosis so that the new owner will know with what he/she is dealing. In the meantime it would be good to get your name on the list.
- Nova[ADOPTED-ALF STILL NEEDS A HOME] is a 5 year old, 55 pound, female, yellow, Lab. This sweet thing's owner became suddenly ill and can no longer care for his friend. Nova is spayed, housebroken, good with dogs, cats and kids. She is not a jumper, digger, nor barker. Just a good dog in a bad situation. Nova will go quickly, I would suggest getting on the waitng list
The owner also has a 4 year old, Rott mix named Alf who will need a home. Alf is neutered, housebroken, up to date with shots, good with dogs, cats and kids. He is not a barker, digger nor jumper (He may not be a jumper because he only has 3 legs--doesn't bother Alf and shouldn't bother anyone interested in giving this good dog a new home.)

MOLLY AND HER 7 PUPS [ALL ADOPTED]
Molly is a purebred, 1/12 year old, yellow. female Lab who is looking for a home and would like to also get a good home for all of her 7 pups. Mom has a great Lab disposition, walks well on a leash and gets along with other dogs and kids. The pups are: 2 blacks (one male, one female) 1 dark chocolate (female), 4 yellows (1 male, the rest not). All pups have been to the vet and are up to date with their shots. (For information call: 505-683-5171 or 505-749-2963)
[ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, 55 pound, female, yellow Lab mix (possibly with Golden Retriever). Bella's owner is moving and must reluctantly find a new home for her girl. Bella is a docile, loving dog who gets along with dogs, cats and kids. She is housebroken, spayed and microchipped--the complete package.

(AKA Higgy) [ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, male, yellow Lab mix.
Here is what his owner has to say about Mr. Higgins:
"He is great with our other dogs except that the German Sheppard/Malamute mix (Lex) isn’t to fond of his eagerness (Lex is kind of old). He loves cats and wishes they would just love him back. He would prefer to be inside all the time and loves walks if there are people involved. He chases prairie dogs gleefully. We had him fixed, de-wormed, shots, etc. He isn’t fond of sleeping on a hard floor (much prefers a bed). We haven’t had much time for training… he knows sit and is house trained as far as we can tell. I think he would do best in a situation where he is confined to a yard or on a leash since he has been able to roam at our place (he might be a little to used to covering a lot of ground). We do raise cattle and none of our dogs have ever wounded a newborn calf. I think he would be the perfect indoor dog for someone who likes to take walks. He loves to be around other animals, children, people, etc... He has been fed well and doesn’t have any injuries or wounds. (He did lose a small portion of his right ear to a riff with a neighbors dog who comes over to taunt sometimes (maybe an inch or so squared).
We found him skinny, wormy, sick, etc. and tried to take care of him as best we could but now it's time for Higgy to find a home of his own."(Higgins lives in Taos. Transportation can be arranged.)
- Ottis and EB[BOTH ADOPTED] are two purebred, 9 year old, male, yellow Labs. These two brothers may look familiar to followers of this site. Their owner became suddenly ill and needed to enter a nursing home. A new home was found, but that person can now no longer keep them, We are back to square one. Both are neutered, and they have been inside dogs. These guys have been together all of their lives, and we will do everything to keep it that way.
We know that finding someone who would want two older dogs is needle-in-the-haystack stuff, but if we don't find someone, through no fault of their own, Ottis and EB's future would be very dark. We give old dogs a loving home for the remainder of their lives for one simple reason--they are worth it.
Here is what Ottis and EB have to say:
Hi! Everybody.
"We're Ottis and EB and we love, love. We're brothers and have been together from the very begining. Ever since we were pups we've lived with our friend Max. It's been 9 wonderful years, but unfortunately Max had to go away. So now we are looking for the next great friend or friends that we get to love.
We have bubbly personalities and make great throw pillows. Kids and cats love to sleep on us and we're hungry all the time. We love bananas!
Givin the fact that we're not spring chickens any more we do have to have a bit of preventative maintenance done on a regualar basis. See, of the two of us, you know in this state someone's going to get allergies. That would be me, Ottis. But with the right food and a daily dose of benedryl, I'm fine. Also, I've had a bit of minor surgery, but things turned out great and I've got many years left. Whew!
Now for me, EB, so far so good. I'm just too good to be true. HeeHee. The other thing that makes this whole match making thing a little complicated is that we must stay together. See it broke our hearts when Max had to leave, and we just plain ol' need each other.
So that's us in a nutshell. ( Even though we could never fit.) All we need is love. Take care and we hope to see you soon."
EB and Ottis
- Alma [ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, female, 65 pound, purebred, yellow/white Lab. This cutie was found wondering in downtown Albuquerque about 6 months ago and was rescued by a young couple with a very busy life. It's time Alma finds herself a permanent home. She is spayed and just a couple lessons short of being housebroken. Alma gets along with dogs, has no experience with cats, and has done well with young children. She has a typical young Lab's energy and curiosity, so if you have just planted a new flower bed, good luck.
<
br>
- Nikko[ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, male, 80 pound, black, Lab mix. A new adult family member and Nikko don't see eye-to-eye on some basic issues so maybe Nikko would be better off finding a new eye to see. Nikko is neutered, housebroken, up to date with his shots, not a jumper, digger, nor barker and is the best friend of a 9 year old. Life isn't always fair.
<
br>
Savanna[ADOPTED] is a 9 month old, female, 45 pound, yellow, Lab mix. (probably 50/50 Lab/ German Shepherd) Savanna is a cutie who was ditched by an owner at a friend's house. We need to find her a caring home. She is a typical young Lab; high energy and loves everything and everybody. Savanna is not spayed, is very housebroken. (Want a bed companion?) Savanna has had a tough early life and is trying her hardest to show her people what a good dog she really is. So she needs a family that is OK with her submissiviness and can help build her confidence.
- Nova[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, 55 pound, female, yellow, Lab.
- Savanna[ADOPTED] is an 8 month old, female, 45 pound, yellow, Lab. Savanna is a cutie who was ditched by an owner at a friend's house. We need to find her a caring home. She is a typical young Lab; high energy and loves everything and everybody. Savanna is not spayed and has been an outside dog but would, and should, easily be converted to a spayed, inside dog.
Here is a male, handsome, black lab. We named him Tank[ADOPTED] He is about 2 years old, 64 pounds and gets along with other dogs and is very strong he does not know any commands but seems to be smart and does listen. This guy has 110% Lab disposition.ID#127704 Tank is currently being treated for kennel cough, but is still adoptable.
[ADOPTED]This Lab is male, 83 pounds, chocolate Lab and he is about 2 years of age. His name is Bogie. The only info so far is that he rides well in a car, gets along with other dogs and knows no commands, but can be trained. This is a big dog in the rough. I love dogs like this. ID#127703
- Abby and Brucie [BOTH ADOPTED] are two Lab buddies looking for a home.
Abby is a 3 year old, 50 pound, spayed, female Lab. She is crate trained and good in the house when you're not in the house. This little vocal cutie is crate trained, loves to swim, loves her people and her ball (not always in that order).
Brucie is an 85 pound, neutered, 4 year old, yellow Lab. This big blockheaded handsome guy is good with the little ones and is housebroken. Brucie, like Abby, gets along with other dogs, but he could just as easily be the single love of your life.
Abby and Brucie can go together or seperately.

This is Sadie [ADOPTED] Lab/Basset mix.(a canine lowrider) She is sweet dog gets along with other dogs and cats. She is about 1 year old, is skinnier than her picture, really likes kids and is laid back. Sadie thinks she belongs on your bed or couch. ID#A127702

- Tattoo[ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, male, 100 pound, purebred, chocolate, Lab. This handsome guy, even though he attended obedience school, is still alotta dog for his owner. Tattoo is a real lover, he is housebroken, crate trained, good with dogs and kids who don't fall over easily. He is not neutered and that is an activity whose time has come. This is a typical big, Lab pup who could use an owner who knows what we mean by "typical big, Lab pup."
- Lucy[ADOPTED] is a 5 1/2 year old, 50 pound, female, black, Lab mix. Lucy found herself in a home owned by a non dog loving landlord, so in this battle Lucy loses. This girl is spayed, houseboken and seems to love every living creature. She is not a digger, jumper nor barker. Lucy will stay in the house all day long while the owner is away. What a great age for a Lab.
- Coleman [ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, 85 pound, male, black, very Labby Lab mix. A change in housing is causing Coleman's owner to very reluctantly give up his big gentle friend. Coleman is neutered and microchipped for identifcation. He would love to be with another dog, cats are an unknown and children would be fine if they do not tip over easily. This is a big "lay under your desk" type of guy. Coleman is in the Farmington area.
PUPPIES! PUPPIES! PUPPIES!
A purebred Lab and a purebred Red Heeler, a little wine, some romatic music, we now have three 8 week old sisters looking for a home. ID# 127073--74--75.

This handsome guy is a 3 yr. old Yellow Male Labrador, "Bailey." [ADOPTED] This is a wonderful dog, who is AKC Registered, and a perfect gentleman. He loves to be both outdoors and indoors. He gets along very well with other dogs and all people. He has a sweet and gentle disposition and loves to be loved. Bailey loves to ride in the truck and the car.

- Bodhi [ADOPTED] is a spayed, housebroken Lab/Golden + mix with a 100% Lab disposition. She gets along well with kids and is fascinated by cats. She is not a digger, jumper nor barker.
Here is what the owners have to say:
"We are looking for a loving home with a good environment for a 14-month old Lab mix. Bodhi is big (75 lbs!), sweet, intelligent, loves people, and is pretty much past puppydom. When strangers are not around, she is quiet and content. When people are around, she loves to be with them.
...She needs more training as we have not had the time to work consistently with her. She does the usual sit, come, etc., but needs someone willing to be the "alpha" dog to complete her obedience work. We are willing to help out with the cost of more training if someone will take her to classes.
Our reasons for wanting to find a good home:
Besides not being here enough for her, and the future looking like we will be away more, we do not have a good outdoor situation (small pen) and we are not able to walk with her enough. She has been outdoors at times on her own as we live out in the mountains, but new homes are going up around us, which means new dogs coming into the neighborhood. Also, we have a frequent house guest who has asthma. I think his symptoms get worse each time he is here. Our older dog will stay outdoors, but Bodhi wants to be right at his feet and ours." (For information call: 238-9807)
- Jake [ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, 100 pound, yellow, male, very Labby Lab mix. Jake was found in bad shape by a kind family who took him under their wing and nurtured him back to his fine strapping self. This guy has a 100% Lab disposition, loves to fetch, loves water, loves kids and even tolerates cats. He is not as yet neutered, is up to date on shots, heartworm negative and uses the dog door. The only thing left to do with this guy is to get him neutered. Jake lives in the Santa Fe area. (For information call: 505-747-8661 or 505-570-9168)
Jerome[ADOPTED] a 6 month old, 50 pound chocolate Lab mix, was found on the side of the road New Year’s and took it to the Pet-ER. He was kept over night to access his condition. He was doing much better, just Cortisone and observation and he looks fine, except for Demodex around one eye and patch on throat and leg. He was taken to a regular vet and had rabies, DHPP and heartworm test,..Bruce is very social, loves his people, good with other dogs and kids and is learning what to do inside the house and what's to be done outside the house. Jerome seems none the worse for the possible trauma by car or the cold. (For information call 866-0557)
Lea [ADOPTED] is a 6-8 month old, 55 pound, yellow, Lab female. This beautiful girl was found tied to the fence of animal control. (I know who I would like to tie to that fence.)
- Gracie[ADOPTED] is a 10 month old, 65 pound, female, yellow, purebred, Lab. Gracie's human Mom's work schedule left her girl alone too long during the day so Gracie reverted to a-pup-left-alone mode. She is spayed and housebroken Gracie has not been with other dogs but, after all, she is a Lab pup so let's go with her being good with other dogs. Owner is not sure about cats but believes she would just want to play. She loves kids but maybe a bit rough with the little ones.

Rudy [ADOPTED] is a 6 yr old chocolate Lab/field spaniel cross. He is housebroken, good with dogs and kids. Rudy loves his people and his Lab side shows when he follows you all around the house. A good, sweet adult Lab--hard to beat that combination.
- Halley and Venus[ADOPTED] are sisters whose owners are moving overseas for a lengthy job assignment. The owners' heartfelt loss will be somebody else's gain. Both females are purebred, spayed, black Labs. Venus is 7 years old, 80 pounds and Halley is 6 years old, 65 pounds, are housebroken, good with other dogs and up to date with their shots. They are not diggers, barkers or jumpers and have done some remedial hunting. They have been together since puppyhood, and they should go together to their new home.
Owners say:
VENUS:

Was not registered but parents had papers.
All vaccinations up to date. Recent heart worm test was negative. Heartguard administered monthly. Vitamins given daily. Housebroken and make good house dog. Very gentle. Friendly to people and good with Children. Loves to play fetch. Always has a soft rubber toy in her mouth. Does not dig, chew and barks seldom unless stranger approaches gate to back yard.
Has mild hip dysplasia with no incident. Very active with no signs of arthritis.
HALLEY:
BLACK SPAYED FEMALE LAB
One litter of puppies.
Approximate weight: 66 lbs.
Registered: Halleys' Winter Fun
Parents from Washburn Retrievers Kennel, Marlow, Oklahoma Very good hunting stock. Housebroken and make good house dog. Somewhat excited when first entering house but laid back in few minutes. Very gentle. Good with people and children. Might be a little hyper for small children. Does not dig, chew and barks only occasionally when strangers come to gate to back yard. Very healthy active dog.
Owner's departure date has been moved up, so our two girls need to find their new home soon. These are two purebred, spayed, housebroken, adult Labs. Frankly, I am baffled as to why they are still available. Wouldn't Halley and Venus look great in front of your fireplace during the holidays?
- Cowboy[pictured][ADOPTED] is an 3 year old, 65 pound, male, black, purebred Lab. Cowboy's home situation doesn't allow him the exercise and social interaction a perky Lab of this age needs. This handsome guy is neutered and housebroken, gets along with other dogs, no info on cats and he has a typical bowl-them-down-and-kiss-them-all-over attitude toward small children. He is not a jumper or digger.[OWNER NEEDS TO FIND A NEW HOME BY 12/6/06]
- Dallas[ADOPTED] is a 6 month old, 40 pound, female, purebred, black Lab. A young couple's life took a different turn than they expected and it didn't leave a spot for this pretty girl. Dallas is spayed and has spent most of her short life outdoos, but as a typical Lab if you are inside that's where she will want to be. Dallas gets along well with other dogs, and has shown no particular animosity toward cats.
<
li>Rusty [ADOPTED] is a 7 year old, 70 pound, male, purebred, chocolate Lab. Owners have had Rusty since puppyhood and have redone the yard and in Rusty's part of the yard he's not getting the stimulation an adult sporting dog needs.(He is a trained hunter.) He is not a digger, barker or jumper. Rusty is not neutered, but would like to be. He is housebroken, good with other dogs, and kids of all ages.
Charlie (AKA Bubba) is a 1 1/2 year old, 80 pound, male, neutered chocolate Lab.No beating around the bush--this is one of the sweetest, most handsome, athletic, strong, Labs in which we have come in contact. Everyone who has bonded with Charlie (two adoptive homes, Santa Fe Humane, LODESTAR Dog Ranch and God knows how many others before arriving as a stray at Santa Fe Humane) can't believe what an exceptional dog he is, and also could not make him work in their lives. Every good thing you can think about a young lover Lab Charlie has, but Charlie also has two serious medical/behavioral issues. Charlie has epilepsy and separation anxiety.
It is a long shot, but we need someone who does, or could have, a life style that includes a dog 24/7. We don't think a "normal" home situation will work. We were brainstorming--how about a nursing, medical, correctional facility or an orphanage? Some othere possibilities for a "savior" for Charlie would be a homebound person, a person who can/will take their big dog everywhere, a person who is a master trainer. How about somebody with mucho acreage and no fencing where Charlie could run free? That person will also have to be okay in financing (moderate expense) and administering Charlie's seizure meds.
Without a new home soon, all that is good with Charlie will die with his personal demons.
Two hours before Charlie was to be put down he was rescued by the Watermelon Mountain Ranch-Sandia Chapter and two days later Charlie was adopted--thanks to everyone who took the time to care.

Theo[ADOPTED] is a black, 2 year old, male Lab. He is he is being boarded in a Kennel in Roswell. Theo gets along with other dogs, know basic commands and is a handsome bugger. The kennel staff really like him they say he is really good with kids, likes cats and is real calm.
The kennel staff is very high on this guy. He is a calm lover boy who has been without a home for too long.
Billy Joe[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, neutered, black, male Lab. We received an email from a visitor to the AACC and she felt Billy Joe was "wondeful" but she could not adopt him and since he has been in the Center since 10/27 she was worried (rightfully so) for him. This is a great age for a Lab. Check him out. ID#968720 Eastside
- Buster [ADOPTED] is a 3-4 month old, 25 pound, male, yellow Lab mix.
Owners say: "We are trying to find a good home for Buster a Lab mix. He has had one set of shots. We rescued him and need to find him a home. Unfortunately we cannot keep him, we have 3 dogs, not a super large yard and/or house. I am hoping to find him a home where he will have a play pal and place to romp around. Buster is adorable and pretty mellow for his age."
[ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, female, 50 pound, black Lab. When a newborn arrived, the family time schedule changed. Caviar got caught up in the change. Not enought time left in the day to give this Lab what she needs. Caviar is good with other dogs, lives with a 3 year old child, and cats make her look the other way. She is not spayed and is currently an outside dog. Both of these conditions can be changed, and the spay "thing" should be changed.
Baxter [ADOPTED] is a young neutered, male, yellow Lab. He is 1-2 years old. Extremely energetic and strong. Will need and experienced Lab owner and training. Not for the weak or timid owner. ID# CO6-001111
THIS IS A BIG LAB PUP THAT NEEDS A SAFE PLACE REAL SOON. HIS TIME IS VERY NEAR THE END. IF YOU DON'T FEEL YOU CAN ADOPT BAXTER WOULD YOU CONSIDER FOSTER? WE NEED TO KEEP HIM SAFE UNTIL HIS PERMANENT HOME IS FOUND.
- Leisha and Pauz[BOTH ADOPTED] are two life-long pals looking for a new home. Owner's move to a series of temporary housing arrangements doesn't leave any room these two 9 year old buddies. Leisha is a purebred short, stocky, black Lab. Pauz is a tall, stately German Shepherd. Pauz is partially, (moving toward totally) blind but can successfully negotiate the two acres upon which he is now running. Leisha and Pauz are outside dogs who have shared a nice warm dog house all of their lives.
Their owners say:
"We have been the only family Pauz and Leisha have ever known and it is imperative to us that they go to someone who will love them as we have. Pauz and Leisha are not barkers, howlers, jumpers, or diggers. They are very well trained and will not leave the confines of our yard even if the gate is left open. Over the years Pauz and Leisha also shared the property with a horse, five small dogs, a cat, and numerous small children. They have always lovingly greeted and accepted them. The kids these two great family dogs have grown up with have moved on to college and the family is selling their home and moving into a temporary housing situation that is not ideal or even accommodating for Pauz and Leisha."
NOTE FROM TOM PAYNE LODESTAR DOG RANCH.
I have known Leisha and Pauz since they were tiny pups and have shared many good across-the-fence pets over the years.(They live next door to the Ranch.) Their ages and Pauzs' eye condition will make it tough to find a new home, but I am sure there is a family out there who would be willing to share their lives with a couple of seniors who would be forever grateful for whatever love the family can spare.
(picture-left)[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, male, 85 pound, yellow/white Lab. Max is a high energy, big kid who can use a high energy owner. Max gets along with dogs, is good with kids (lives with a 3 year old child) and has no experience with cats. He loves fetching and water--hunting potential? Max is not neutered and has been an outside dog. The new owner can change the outside condition and should change the neutered condition.
Bear [ADOPTED] is a 1 yr. old, 70 pound, Chocolate Male Lab Mix. He has a sweet temperament, loving and affectionate, loves being indoors where his people are and is good with cats and rabbits. He was picked up in Otero County by Alamagordo Animal Control. He has been neutered, is up-to-date on all shots, Heartworm tested and is on preventative. Hip X-ray was normal. This is a wonderful dog for someone to adopt. Please consider this beautiful brown Bear.
Suzzy[ADOPTED] is a Lhaso Apso or Shih Tzu. She is about 20-25 lbs and very cute-- She is spayed, housetrained, and full of love.. I believe she is only about 2 years old.. Her owner took on a job as a truck driver and he didn't think it was fair to her to have to live on the road, so he wants us to find Suzzy the best home possible with people that can give her all the love and attention she is used to getting..(For information call: 565-3937)
Becca[ADOPTED] is a 9 year old Yellow Labrador Female. She was an owner-relinquish out of Carlsbad, NM. Becca is sweet and loving and wonderful with other dogs. She likes to be both inside and outside. She is house trained and crate trained. She was overweight when she arrived but has lost weight and is beginning to really look good. Becca was apparently struck with a very heavy object of some kind in the mouth. As a result, she had a splintered tooth that lodged in her gums, requiring some dental work and medication to take care of the infection. Two days later, she is feeling much more chipper and no longer in extreme pain. Becca is ready to go to the right home

[ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, 90 pound, purebred, papered, male, yellow Lab. This handsome dude is basically an inside dog, but family circumstances force him outside making Bently an unhappy guy. When your big Lab is unhappy, so are you. So, let's get him back into a house. Bently gets along with children of all ages and he would love to have a dog companion (no experience with cats). He is not a digger, jumper or barker. Bently is neutered and housebroken.
Kelly [ADOPTED ON 9/10--THANKS!]
The Alamogordo Animal Control has a 9-12 month old male, unaltered, chocolate lab available to an immediate home. Transportation can be arranged if interested!! Kelly will be euthanized on 9/11/08 at 4:30 PM. Please call if interested in a sweet, housebroken, well mannered youngster who gets along well with other dogs. (For information please call: 505 430-5775.)
We need to get Kelly out of harm's way. If you cannot adopt him can you foster until we can find a home?
Straight from the owner's mouth:
"We would like to tell you about Duke [ADOPTED]. Duke is a 2 1/2 year old pure bred, neutered
white lab, that has been a member of our family since he was 7 weeks old.
Duke loves to play fetch, eat biscuts, and even perform a few tricks. Duke
is house broken, sleeps in a crate at night, is good with other dogs, has never seen a cat and loves attention. Duke is a great animal and that is why we are contacting you today. 6 months ago we welcomed a new baby into our already hectic schedules and have found it
impossible to be the type of pet owner that Duke deserves. We are looking
for a loving family or individual, that can give Duke the love and
companionship he so desperatly needs.
Cassie's owners say"
Cassie [ADOPTED] is a 6 year old AKC registered, Yellow Lab female. Her owners had to relinquish her because of financial problems that necessitated a move, where they could not take her. She loves adults and children. She is very sweet, and gets along well with both other dogs and cats. Through no fault of her own, she is now looking for a forever home. The present owners took her away from an uncle who medically abused her by medicating her to keep her energy level down. This is a dog that deserves a wonderful home with people who will care for her and love her.

[ADOPTED] a is a 1 year old, 60 pound, male, purebred, black Lab. An unfortunate change in family circumstances leaves too little day left over for Diego. This handsome, and according to his owner, "very social, sweet and loving" guy has been to obedience school and mastered his sit lesson. (He is working on the rest.) He is a typical high energy pup, but is not a barker, digger or jumper. Diego is neutered, sleeps in a crate at night and has lived with children 5 and 13 years old.
and April are PUPPIES.[BOTH ADOPTED] It not too often we get the young ones. These purebred Labs are 3 months old, litter mate sisters. They get along with all living creatures, love water, enjoy walks in the park and wait until you see them smile at you. The owner would like to keep Lluvia and April together, but if you cannot take two, give the owner a call and get your name on a list in case he changes his mind.
Debo [ADOPTED] is 4 mo. a yellow lab x. He is a typical pup -- high energy, full of fun and a charmer. He gets along with all of the dogs.
[ADOPTED] is a 7 year old, male, 70 pound, black, purebred Lab. A change in the owner's lifestyle and family size makes it desirable to find a new home for Scobey. This is very difficult for the owner to do, but life doesn't care what we think. Scobey is good with dogs, kids and has not been around cats, but it's believed he would just be his old curious self. He is not a digger, jumper or barker. He is OK on leash (after the first few minutes of Lab excitement).Scobey is neutered and housebroken. This is a Lab in his prime.

and Coco[ADOPTED] are two (what else) chocolate, purebred, Labs looking for a home together (if we can make that happen). Chocolate is a female, 1 1/2 year old, 40 pounder. Coco is a 5 year old, 60 pound, male. Coco is not neutered, nobody is sure about Chocolate, but the two have been together for over a year with no little bundles from heaven, so we guess maybe she is spayed. These two need a new home quickly. They are great with kids, not so great with cats and Coco doesn't seem to be too good with other dogs (except Chocolate.) Great for those looking to become an instant 2 dog family.
URGENT PLACEMENT NEEDED: Owner cannot keep Chocolate and Coco. While it would be nice to find a together home, they can be seperated. They will be taken to the Humane Association on 8/27--let's find them a home before then.
Samson[ADOPTED] is a 1-2 year old, neutered, chocolate Lab. He was picked up as a stray in Carlsbad. This is one great dog. When he was adopted off of this site it was discovered he had a badly dislocated knee and the operation could promise our guy considerable pain, but couldn't promise a 100% leg. After lengthy discussions it was decided amputation was the way to go. Samson's story is typical of where our donations go. I can promise anyone who donates that we use every dime to enhance the life of those Labs that do so much to enhance our lives.

[ADOPTED] is a 5 year, 80 pound, male, purebred, yellow Lab. Owner is moving to an "Animal Free Zone," so the big guy needs a new home. What a great age for a Lab. Buddy loves water, other dogs and kids. He is not a jumper, digger nor barker. He is not neutered and really needs to be. Buddy has been in the house, but since the death of his dogmate he has had a couple of "accident." This is a friendly, adult Lab who needs a new home (or a 6 month foster) before the end of August.
Penny [ADOPTED] is a 35 pound, female, 9 month old, black, Lab mix. This little cutie was snatched from the jaws of death at the Valencia County shelter. She is still just a playful pup who enjoys going on walks with kids. Penny gets along with other dogs, with a bit of gentle prodding will sleep in her crate and she loves to follow you around and wait for the chance to get her belly rubbed. (For information call: LODESTAR Dog Ranch 286-3729)
Here is what Otis and Elvis's owner has to say: [ADOPTED TOGETHER]

Otis is a wonderful dog. He is probably 2 or 3 years old. He's very
playful and affectionate. He knows some basic obedience commands (sit and
stay). He is truly polite and respectful of boundaries set for him. He
squeals with glee every time you open the door, plays the occasional game of
fetch with anything you will throw, and, if you ask for it, will bring you
his dog dish when he is done eating (provided it is the type he can pick
up).

Elvis is outstanding as well. He's gentle, sweet, playful,
uncomplaining, and relatively submissive. He doesn't seem to show any
aggression toward any dog. He's very trusting and has no preference for men
or women. He's always pleased to see you, but is quite happy doing his own
thing. He followed the lab into my yard and then stayed. He could jump
out at any time, but stays to be with the lab. He also knows "sit" and
"stay." The vet estimates that he is about 3 years old. He's very agile,
and probably will need a hot wire set up at his new home for a short time.
I will help.
Both dogs seem very smart and trainable. I have been locking them in my
garage at night and so far no accidents, so I'm assuming that means that
they are house broken. Neither dog seems to have any notable behavioral
problems.
Otis and Elvis seem to finish each other's sentences, so the owner would like to place both dogs together. [ADOPTED TOGETHER]

- Jett[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, female, black Lab mix.
This sweet young girl (about 1 year old) was rescued from a coyote attack in the East Mountains on 5/6. Her rescuer/foster mom and dad got her patched up. No one from her previous home chose to look for her, so we are now looking for a new home. Jett has beautiful brown highlights on her legs, and eyes that can look right through you. She is now a normal, high energy, playful, fun young Lab. She is a good dog just looking for someone to trust.(For information call the LODESTAR Dog Ranch @ 286-3729)

[ADOPTED] is a 2-3 year old, 90+ pound yellow/fox red Lab mix. (His mix is with some other big breed, vet thinks maybe Newfoundland.) He was found as a lost dog on July 24th at 4th and Ranchitos in Albuquerque. Marmaduke is neutered, housebroken and good with other dogs. His owner/rescurer cannot keep him because they have 3 other dogs, but if they could they would. This guy is a big, sweet, gentle giant who loves to be where ever his people are. Sure, he's big, but folks somebody's life is about to get a whole lot better when they bring 90 pounds of love into their home. Could that be you?
Ebony-- [ADOPTED]Female, 8 month old, Lab X ?--black-- microchipped--shots, good with other dogs-- Owner Release ID#9
[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, male, 85 pound, chocolate, purebred, papered Lab. An owner's move and career change means a change for Charlie. This handsome guy has it all. He is neutered, up to date with his shots, microchipped, good with dogs, cats and loves kids. He is a bit timid at first with adults, but warms up quickly.
[pictured][ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, female, black, purebred Lab. Maggie's owner has joined the military, and they will not allow Maggie at basic training, so we need to find her a new home. She is not spayed--new owners know what that means. Maggie is housebroken, microchipped, good with dogs, cats and kids. She is a typical high energy Lab and very satisfied to stay in her own back yard. Maggie has not walked much on leash but hasn't had to, she is great off leash.

[ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, male, 45 pound, purebred, papered yellow Lab. Mr. Willy was rescued from downstate NM and brought to Albuquerqe in the hopes of finding him a good loving home. He is not neutered (and he is ashamed of that fact), good with dogs and kids of all ages. He has not experienced the thrill of cats as yet. Willy has been an outside dog, but at his age that can be changed. ID#A122275
[ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, male, 80 pound, yellow, very Labby Lab mix. This guy is too big a dog for too small a yard. He is not a digger, jumper nor barker, good with cats and has lived with teenagers (which we all know is not that easy). Jude is housebroken, but as yet not neutered. nothing wrong with this guy--just right dog, wrong place
PUPPIES! PUPPIES! PUPPIES
- Litter #1--All black, purebred, 8 week old pups. 2 males and 3 females. Watching the miracle of birth seemed like a good idea at the time, but now the owner needs to find good homes for the little "miracles". [ALL ADOPTED]
Call soon, they won't last long.
Max[ADOPTED] is a 6-7 year old, tad overweight, black Lab. He is neuterd and was picked up as a stray. He rides well in a car and has been known to give the driver several kisses on route. He is up to date on his shots and is microchipped. Nice family dog for a nice family. (For information call 505-392-4638)

Here is our adorable pup Isabelle,[ADOPTED] a Lab mix of approx. 4-5 mo. old.
We have run out of foster homes and so she is at Zoey's in Rio Rancho for now. We may have to transfer her to Boulder next month if we can't get her adopted quickly.
We just had her spayed because she also had a umbilical hernia that needed repair. She is very submissive so will get along with other dogs. I don't know about cats yet... she is a super good girl. Even our vet eyed her for a moment as he said she is a smart girl too.
<
Nobel [ADOPTED] is a big, handsome, squareheaded, sweet, 4 1/2 year old, chocolate Lab. This guy was shot, has a bit of a limp and is understandably a tad shy. Dispite all, this is a real good Lab.
Annie [ADOPTED] is a friendly, high energy, female, chocolate, 7 months old.
[ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, female, 65 pound, black Lab mix. Military family being deployed and split up, not leaving enough time for good old Danza. He is not a barker, digger nor jumper (stays in a 3 foot tall fence). This sweet guy was valedictorian at his obedience school. Danza gets along with other dogs and has lived with children ages 7 to 11. If you have some attention to give, Danza is ready to receive.

[ADOPTED] is a 10 month old, female, 60 pound, chocolate Lab. For her owner, Bella makes 5--Labs that is, and they have come to the conclusion that 4 is enough. She gets along with other dogs, it is believed she would get along with cats, and may be a bit roudy around little children. Bella sleeps inside, but has been primarily an outside dog. She is looking forward to her new owner spaying her. Bella is your typical young, high enery Lab and could use someone with a few training tips to spare.

PUPPIES born 5/20/06. Purebred--3 chocolate, 2 males; 7 black, some male and some not. These pups will be available for adoption by mid July, but pick one or two out now--they won't last long. (For information call the LODESTAR Dog Ranch 286-3729)
[ALL PUPPIES ADOPTED]
Family picture on the right. Mom, Summer, 6 year old, Yellow; Dad, Yogi, 8 year old, chocolate and the kids.
Buckwheat (pictured)[ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, neutered, black, male Lab. This handsome guy was turned in by a family who didn't have time for him. He came in with his brother who was adoped leaving Buckwheat still looking for a home. He is neutered, good with other dogs and cats and has been an outside dog, but my guess is he could change that with the right encouragement. ID#119480

- Stella[ADOPTED] is a 6 month old, female, yellow, Lab/German Shepherd mix. This is a sweet little girl with no real problems other than the fact her loving owner can't keep her (non- dog-loving landlord). Stella is housebroken, spayed, microchipped and gets along with all of earth's creatures.

- Hershey (ADOPTED) is a 5 month old, female, chocolate, 35 pound, Lab. An unexpected job change and a move to an apartment means this little girl needs to find a new home. She is not a jumper, digger nor barker. Hershey is good with dogs and young children and has yet to meet a cat. She is not spayed (as yet) and seems to like being outdoors, but at her tender age learning to be an inside dog should be no problem.
Lady[ADOPTED] is a 6 month old, purebred, black, female Lab. This young Lady is busy acting like a young Lab and her family has a busy life to live, so maybe Lady should find a new home. She is spayed and semi-housebroken, good with dogs and young children, cats are an unknown. She is a high energy playful pup

Dante(pictured)[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 85 pound, purebred, yellow Lab. Dante is housebroken, neutered, good with other dogs, not a digger, jumper nor barker, and as you can see is one handsome bugger. A change in family situation leaves little time for Dante to be the young, playful Lab he is.

- Ringo [ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, male, black, 65 pound, very Labby looking Lab mix. Ringo is not neutered, is housebroken, good with other dogs and cats. This handsome guy walks well on a leash, does your basic sit/stay, does not dig, jump nor bark. Ringo has a story: He was picked up as a stray, and his rescuer could not keep him, so he went to the Humane Association. Ringo turned out to be one of those dogs who does not do well in a shelter situation. He showed as a very shy dog, was deemed unadoptable and scheduled to be put down within the hour. His rescuer knew Ringo was not that kind of a dog so she went back and adopted him to save his life. (She rescued him a 2nd time., but can't keep him.) Now, we're back to finding this sweet but "misunderstood" dog a permanent home.
Jamie[ADOPTED] is a 5-6 year old, female, pure chocolate Lab. She came in as a stray in bad shape (ticks, etc). Jamie is now all fixed up, and according to the shelter staff, is a real sweet Lab.
- Naomi [ADOPTED] is a 5 month old, female, chocolate, 30 pound, Lab mix.

Owner says:
"...she knows all of her basic obedience, including: shake hands, high-5 (she can differentiate between the two), sit, lay, down (like off), stay, and come. She has also had some practice walking on the leash, and if you take charge and walk her close to you she does really well for her age. She is probably within a week of being 5 m.o."
- Max [ADOPTED]is a 1 1/2 year old, 75 pound, male, yellow, purebred Lab. Max is not neutered (a condition that should be changed), and has lived outdoors (a condition that can be changed). His owner's lifestyle is such that Max doesn't get the exercise he needs. He is good with other dogs, has lived with young kids and has no experience with cats.
- Ellie [ADOPTED]is an 11 month old, female, yellow, purebred Lab. A family move would not be best for Ellie, so her family reluctantly need to find this good dog a new home. She gets along well with other dogs and is not a jumper, digger or barker. A young, purebred, yellow, female--Ellie will not be looking for a new home for long.
MORE PUPPIES! PUPPIES! PUPPIES!
Six Lab mix pups--7 weeks old.(1 BLACK FEMALE LEFT AS OF 5/2)
and Patches [ADOPTED TOGETHER] are two 8 month old, Lab/German Shepherd mixes (parents papered purebreds). These two sisters get along with other dogs and are living with children as young as two.(P&P were perfect ladies, and a big hit at a 3 year old's birthday party) Princess and Patches are housebroken, know all basic commands. They are not diggers, jumpers nor barkers. They were spayed 3/31. Owner's allergies are the only reason these two beloved family pets need to find a new home.
Princess and Patches go as a pair.
PUPPIES!PUPPIES!PUPPIES!
A purebred Lab lady came in with her 7 unexpected 12 week old offsprings. Dad's an unknown and isn't overly obvious in the pups appearance. The siblings consist of 5 all black and 2 with a touch of flecked gray.(Dad a Heeler?) 5 males and 2 females. (ALL ADOPTED)
- Toby [ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 75 pound, male, black, Labby-looking Lab mix. This handsome guy is neutered, housebroken, leash trained, good with dogs, cats and kids. Toby spends most of his young Lab energy chasing horses and an occasional chicken. (So maybe the less rural the better for Toby.) This is a typical energetic, courious, social Lab. The owner and the horses would like to find a new home ASAP.
Peaches:
Here is what her owner has to say:
Here is 14 month old Peaches. [ADOPTED] She is a warm, loving, care-free dog whom needs a caring and respectful home. Being a lab and Sharpei mix Peaches is both hyper and lazy all at the same time. It is important that Peaches new owners take her to the park a few times a week if not every day. She loves to chase the Frisbee and if she does not get to she will become depressed. With all of her wrinkles in her face she can put on a pretty good pouty face as well. Don't want that on your conscious. Anyhow if I could possibly keep Peaches I would in a heart beat but I just can't. She is housetrained, knows a few tricks and is eager to please. She really is a great dog. Everyone tells me so all of the time."
Peaches is also good good with other dogs and cats. She may put her 70 pounds of love too close to the real young, so let's go with older kids.
Ziggy: [ADOPTED] 2 year-old Male Chocolate Lab. Ziggy is so much fun. He has this serious, expressive face, but he has now decided that playing should be included in his daily activities. Ziggy was an owner-relinquish at Alamogordo Animal Control. Ziggy is a trained bird hunter, and he is crate trained and house trained. This is a great dog and will make someone a wonderful companion.
<
[ADOPTED]is a 5 year old, yellow/white, 70 pound, male, Lab. Owner is military and both a change in the owner's health and pending relocation over seas is causing the need to split up a man and his dog. Riley is neutered, housebroke, up to date on his shots. This is such a great age for a Lab. Riley is low key, gets along with other dogs, cats and loves to play with the owner's 1 year old child. Riley is on meds for epilepsy and has not has a seizure in over 2 years. The meds are very affordable ($4.00 per month)

[ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, male, black, Lab mix. Max is a mellow, laid back guy, but he is in a home with too many dogs. He is housebroken (uses a dog door) and neutered. Just to be sure, let's look for a home without another male dog.
- Molly and Sasha [ADOPTED] are two, female, purebred, yellow/white Labs. Both are good with other dogs and have been with young children all of their lives. Molly is 3 years old and spayed.
Sasha is 2 years old and also spayed. The owner's family circumstances have changed. Both Labs are housebroken, crate-trained, do not dig, jump nor bark. Molly is blonde, stocky and very, very social and loving. Sasha has been with Molly since she was a tiny puppy and would be lost without her. Sasha is more social with other dogs, loves to run at the dog park. They both have to be on (generic) benadryl every day, but it's not expensive when purchased through Sam's Club. The owners have an igloo house for them, a huge wire crate they sleep in, leashes, etc. and would be more than happy to make it a package deal. They are wonderful girls and don't deserve what is happening to them.
Molly and Sasha go as a pair.
- Sadie [ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, 55 pound, female, yellow Lab. Nothing wrong with this girl, just an owner who is moving to a non-animal friendly apartment. Sadie is spayed, microchipped, housebroken and gets along with dogs, cats and kids. (I told you there was nothing wrong.)
Hunter[ADOPTED]
is a 4 year old, 55 pound, yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix. This handsome guy is neutered, housebroken, crate trained and has basic "sit" "stay" skills. He is good with other dogs, kids and some cats. (He also likes to bark at cows.)
His current owners have one cat Hunter loves, and another he hates, and they have cows. Maybe it's best Hunter find a new home.
Uri[ADOPTED]
is a 2 1/2 year old, a tad overweight, AKC registered, neutered, black Lab. This guy is full of life and could really benefit from an experienced, active Lab owner.
A016506.
- Unali (U-Nall-E)[ADOPTED] is a 7 month old, 35 pound, female, black, Lab mix. Her owner has to move out of state very soon, and Unali has no place to call home. This little girl is good with dogs and kids, and it is believed, with her disposition, cats could go on that list also. She is housebroken but would need to be spayed. Unali is in Las Vegas, NM. Transportation can be arranged.
[ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, 80 pound, male, black, Lab. Bart is Lab friendly, neutered, housebroken, good with other dogs and children of all ages. With all of that going for him, why is he looking for a new home? Owner recognizes that he cannot give Bart the attention and exercise he needs, so for Bart's own good it's best he finds a more active home situation.
Doc. Holiday[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, big, male, yellow Lab mix
- Bell [ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 55 pound, female, yellow, purebred Lab.
This beautiful specimen of Labbyness is good with dogs (although she is an Alpha female) and good with kids. Bell was playing a little too rough with her much older, smaller canine housemate, so for the little one's safety it's best Bell find another place to play. Bell is in Chama NM, but her owner is coming to the Albuquerque area sometime in the week of 3/6.
Krypto [ADOPTED]is a 9 month old, male yellow Lab mix. Tis good dog has lived with young children (which is why theowner neeeds to place him--too much on her plate). Krypto is neutered, housebroken, gets along with dogs, cats and the aformentioned kids. He does not dig, jump, nor bark. This is a handsome young dog with all the pros and cons of youth.
Dusty [ADOPTED]is an 7 year old,
female black Lab mix. This good girl is spayed and good with kids, housebroken (can be left alone in the house), must be an only dog (she likes your undivided attention).
Dusty loves to take walks and rides well in the car. (Contact information: Call 505-350-9800)
<
Barnabus [ADOPTED] is a 10-week old Yellow Male Lab Puppy. He was owner-relinquished at Animal Control in Alamogordo. He would have been euthanized the next day. The prior owners indicated that they bought him from a breeder two weeks prior to relinquishing him, and that he was purebred. They indicated that they were moving. The vet says that he is healthy. He is practically housetrained and tells you when he needs to go out. This is a wonderful, sweet, frisky little bundle of fur. He loves other dogs and lived with a cat. Better call 505-671-8407 quickly. This little, soon to be big, guy may be gone before I can up load his information.
- Chunky [ADOPTED]is a 1 1/2 year old, male, black, very Labby Lab mix. Chunky's owner, after a move, found himself in an apartment that is not enlightened enough to take dogs so Chunky will have to make another move. This is a mellow dog for his age, likes other dogs and kids, cats are an unknown. He is not neutered (but I'm sure he would like to be) and is semi-housebroken. Chunky currently lives in Las Cruces but transportation can be arranged.
Buddy[ADOPTED]
is a 2 year old, neutered, male, black, Lab mix. Real good reports on this guy from the shelter workers. Came to the center on 2/4.ID#896564 Westside
- Bruiser [ADOPTED] is a 7 month old, male, black (with a distinctive white stripe down his chest) Lab. He is not neutered but is housebroken and good with cats, dogs and kids. Bruiser,
like most all Labs his age, relates to the world with his mouth, so it would be helpful to puppy proof your home. This is a friendly pup who loves people and is well on his way to knowing, and doing, basic skills.
- Max 1 [ADOPTED-see below] is a 2 1/2 year old, male, yellow, purebred Lab. Max 1 is in a home with too many dogs and we're looking for a place where he could be an only dog--he loves the attention. Max 1 is neutered and has been an outside dog. His parents were hunters and he shows great hunting potential. (Max 1 is in Artesia--transportation can be arranged.)
Owner says:
"Max has put on some weight since I had him neutered, he probably weighs 100 or more. Max loves kids. He is great with my 4 year daughter and loves to play with her. When he is in the house with cats he is fine, but if outside he will chase them if they run. He has never tried to escape. When we let him in the front yard he runs off, but comes back. Max would have to have at least a 5 foot fence or taller to keep him in. He can jump really high. Max has lots of energy. His favorite thing is rocks he always has to have a rock to carry in his mouth. He loves to chase birds."
Bad news for the bad guys, Max has been accepted for training as a police "sniffer" dog. Congratualtions Max.
- Lulu and Louie [BOTH ADOPTED-TOGETHER]are a pair of 2 1/2 year old, purebred Lab siblings.
Lulu is a spayed, yellow, 60 pound, female.
Louie is a neutered, black, 55 pound male.
Their owner is moving to a place that does not allow outside dogs, which is what these two are, so the owner must move alone. Both dogs are good with other dogs, have had no experience with cats and have lived with children 5 years of age and up.
- Cheyenne(pictured)[ADOPTED]
is a 3-4 year old, yellow, female, Lab mix. This cutie is housebroken, good with dogs, cats and kids (owner has 6). She is troubled by ear infections (not unusual for a Lab) which is cared for by meds. In her past Cheyenne has camped with her people. She is not spayed and guess what happened? Cheyenne is available for adoption, and so are 3 of her puppies. She has 3 black, 16 week old, pups (1 male/2 females) (ALL PUPS ADOPTED--MOM IS STILL AVAILABLE)
Cheyenne is down in the dumps since her pups are gone. Let's get her a home soon.
- Rascal [ADOPTED] is a 7 month old, male, 70 pound, yellow/white, very Labby looking Lab mix. Rascal's owner's health doesn't allow the owner to give a young Lab the exercise it needs. He is a pup and has a pup's energy so she is very reluctantly looking for a home where this guy can get the attention he deserves. Rascal is neutered, housebroken, gets along with dogs, loves kids and it is believed, given his disposition, he would get along with cats.
PUPPY![ADOPTED] EVAS has a 8-10 week old, female, black Lab pup who is looking for a home. Not many young dogs on this site. Grab this one quickly.
- Mocha [ADOPTED] is a 9 month old, 75 pound, male, chocolate Lab. This handsome guy is neutered, housebroken, good with dogs, no experience with cats or kids (but no reason to believe there would be a problem with either). Mocha is smart and well on his way to doing the sit/stay thing. He loves to fetch and shows good hunting potential. He does enjoy chewing which, after all, is the main job of a 9 month old Lab.
- Zemi [ADOPTED]
is a 2 year old, black, female, very Labby Lab mix.(picture right) Zemi is housebroken, spayed, gets along with dogs and kids of all ages and has had no experience with cats. Owner's time to spend with Zemi is limited and an older dog in the house would rather be an only dog in the house.
[ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, 75 pound, female, purebred, chocolate, Lab. This beauty is housebroken and spayed. Her owner's work schedule doesn't leave time for her, so Misty will occasionally leave her yard and go to the park to play. She comes back home. So let's go with a 6 foot plus fence, or a life style that doesn't require Misty to leave home to enjoy.
- Luc[ADOPTED]
(Pictured) is an 1 1/2 year old, black, male, Lab. He is neutered, housebroken and up to date with his shots. This guy, after a good run or fetching session, loves to jump in the horse tank. He has also been to the gun range--(fetch, water, guns; hunting potential?) Luc gets along with other dogs, lives in an area with cats, chickens, goats and horses (which he tolerates).
Hunter [ADOPTED]
is a 4 year old, 55 pound, yellow Lab. This hadsome guy is neutered, housebroken crate trained and has basic "sit" "stay" skills. He is good with other dogs, kids and cats are an unknown.
His owner's work schedule didn't leave the time Hunter needed, so they both reluctantly agreed to part ways.
[ADOPTED]is a 1 1/2 year old, 60 pound, female, black, very Labby Lab mix. A high-energy, young Lab and a busy family aren't the best combination, so it's best that Velvet find another home. This pretty girl is spayed, microchipped, semi-housebroken and crate trained. She is good with other dogs and kids of all ages. She has had no experience with cats. Velvet is a stay at home Lab, will walk without a leash and stays in a backyard with a 4 foot fence.
[ADOPTED]is a 5 year old, 65 pound, female, purebred, yellow, Lab. She has shown her cat housemate what she thinks of little pesty kittens, so it's best Daisy find a home without those "distractions." This beautiful Lab has been therapy trained, is housebroken, spayed, is not a digger nor a jumper, gets along with other dogs and kids. Five years old, what a great age for a Lab.
- Kiwi [ADOPTED] is a 65 pound, 1 1/2 year old, female, chocolate, purebred Lab. Owner ran out of hours in the day to keep this typical, high energy young Lab busy. Kiwi is not spayed and has been an outside dog. Both of those "conditions" can be changed. It would be best if your fencing exceeds 6 feet, or if your lifestyle makes a fence unnecessary. Kiwi is good with other dogs, no experience with cats and has been with very young children.
Mike [ADOPTED]
is a 10 month old, small, neutered, male, Golden/Husky mix.
(For information call: Alamogordo 505-443-2419)
Nemo [ADOPTED]
is a 1 1/2 year old beautiful looking black Lab. She is 75 pounds but could easily go to 90 pounds. Let's shoot for at least a 6 foot fence for this girl. (For information call: 363-9467)
Hi, my name is Leggs![ADOPTED]
I am a 1 old female Black Labrador Mix. My favorite thing to do at the shelter is to run and play with my friends. I would love to have a big yard and lots of space to cover. I do excellent with children and other dogs. I love to be played with and receive extra attention.
Robby [ADOPTED]
is a 3 year old, 65 pound, black, very Labby Lab mix. This handsome dude is not a barker, jumper nor digger and if you were there he would probably stay in the yard with the gate open. Robby loves to be petted, rides well in a car and just shows a curious interest in cats. He is neutered and available for adoption now. Robby was a model guest when he was at the ranch. His human family has grown since he was adopted and there are not enough hours in the day to give this great dog the attention he deserves. This is a very hard decision for the family, but they know they cannot give what Robby needs. Someone is about to get a real good dog.
- Inky [ADOPTED]is a 4 year old, black Lab mix (hound?),
weighing in at a great looking, muscular 130 pounds. He is not neutered, but I'm sure he would like to be. He is up to date on his shots, good with dogs, cats and kids and has been an outdoor dog all of his life.Inky would like to be with his people inside and with a little patience I'm sure he could be.
[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, male, black, Lab. He is good with dogs and children, not sure about cats. He is housebroken and not as yet neutered (but has expressed interest in having it done). Due to a change in family circumstances Poker finds himself in full house and needs to shuffle (sorry, couldn't resist it) off to another home. This is such a great age for a Lab.
This is Co Co, [ADOPTED]
she is adorable. Over weight, but we think she does have some training.
She sits on command. She gets so excited and loves her walks. Co Co is awesome, Dog friendly. About 3-4 years. Looks like she has had several litters. loves everyone. One hell of a Lab.
- Dakota [ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 70 pound, male, chocolate, purebred Lab. He gets along with most other living creatures, adults, children (of all ages) and cats (5 of them) he just doesn't get along with his male Lab housemate. So his owner suggests he be an only dog or possibily with a submissive female (dog that is) Dakota is housebroken, microchipped, loves to fetch and is a great water dog.
[ADOPTED]is
a 1 year old, 75 pound, male, black, Lab mix. His owner had to move and Sam had to stay behind. He is waiting in the back yard of an empty house to be included in your full house. Sam is good with kids, housebroken and loves to be petted.
Sophie[ADOPTED] is approximately 4 mos. old, weighs 22# (a bit thin), and appears to be a healthy, happy puppy now that she has food and some stability. She was rescued off the highway and has been with her rescuer family for almost a week now, and is not spayed yet. She seems to be mostly lab with a wonderful disposition but is definitely a mix (with perhaps shepherd?) Sophie loves people and gets along with other dogs. She seems fairly submissive to them and does not pester the older ones like many puppies do. Don't know about cats but she minds well and seems very trainable. She is already housebroken for the most part, but you still have to make sure she gets outdoors at those important times. She sleeps through the night and even stays put on her blanket without being confined. She has a slight cut over her left eye which is healing nicely. She is a very smart girl, as she is adapting quickly, picks up immediately what is allowed and what is not (e.g. does not chew on furniture, shoes, etc. - but still needs supervision of course), responds to her new name and is already learning commands. She is very loving and just a doll!
Sophie was found and is staying in the Jemez, about about 1 hr. N of ABQ. Her family is very flexible about accomodating your schedule to meet her. She is worth the trip!(For information call: 505-829-3499)
- PUPPIES:Following is an email received here at the ranch:
[ALL ADOPTED]
"My parents live on
the east side of the state (near Clovis) and mom is known as a soft touch. The little town closest to them does not have a shelter so when strays are caught they are euthanized immediately. They picked up two chocolate labs in town (about 2 months ago) and because they were such nice dogs, called my mom to see if she would take them. They had called the person they thought was the owner (and if he was they believe the dogs to be purebred chocolate labs) and his reply was that he couldn’t be bothered to pay the fines to get any dogs back). My mom, being a Lab lover, couldn’t turn them away so she added the dogs (2 young females) to her already large brood of animals. Over the next week she noticed that the older dog seemed to be developing a very noticeably “bloated” look. A trip to the Vet confirmed an advanced pregnancy. About a week later, she gave birth to 10 puppies (5 males, 5 females). The puppies are just beautiful and look like purebred chocolate labs. They are now 8 weeks old and Mom needs to start finding good homes for them. She wants very much for these little guys to be someone’s companion.
They have been hand-raised and are all loving, people-oriented dogs...
(picture at 2 weeks) They are very healthy pups and now that the mama dog has weaned them completely mom plans to get their puppy shots and exams this coming week. The Vet she is working with will not offer a spay/neuter discount so I'm not sure whether sterilization for 10 puppies is within our financial means but we will play that by ear..."(3 pups adopted, 2 more almost)

Mama Cass [EVERYBODY ADOPTED]
and her 13 puppies. The puppies are cute as a button, Their are 8 boys and 5 girls....10 brown with black face, ears, and feet (like a newborn mastiff????) and then their are 3 white with brown spots..( ?????)
The mom, Mama Cass is sweet, and always wagging that tail....She is not a purebred Lab, but you wouldn't know it by her character...A wonderful dog, who would make a perfect addition to any family..She is housetrained. At this point, she has had no vetting at all, as her rescuer just picked her up on 9/16...
.She had her pups 9/20. We're looking for a place for Mama Cass and hopefully finding room for her pups too...She is a heartbreaker, (For information call;956-454-2645)
Danton [ADOPTED]is a 1 1/2 year old, purebred yellow, male Lab. This handsome guy loves to fetch and has beeen tested as a drug dog. He is good with other dogs, kids we don't know and cats not so very much. He is a stay at home dog who is crate-trained, but is not housebroken. He loves to play fetch and to play in what ever water is available.Danton has been in a small space and is just busting at the seams to get some room to run. (For information call Vicki Linderman @ Edgewood Animal Control 286-4518)
[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, male, chocolate Lab. He has lived with children (and a couple of adults), is OK with other dogs and true to his age. Bruno is a typical 2 year old. He is neutered. His owner's move makes the dog move necessary.
Bruno is currently in foster care and his foster mom says:
"We've learned quite a bit about him in the past two days. He is a rambunctious 2 yr old who is a very quick study. He's already learning to lie down, stay, give a high five, and wait at the door to come in or out.
He sits on command and is wonderful on the leash. He walks on my left side and never pulls. We are also working on crate training and house training as he had been an outside dog before coming to us. His favorite things to do are playing fetch with a
tennis ball, eating rawhides, and getting treats. Just like a typical lab! Although he was raised with another lab, we believe he would do just as well as an only dog..." (For information call:797-2696)
[ADOPTED]
a purebred Lab looking for a home. Bailey is a 4 year old, 75 pound, yellow, male, Lab.
Emerson[ADOPTED]
is a chocolate lab that was born on 09/15/2004. He is very energetic and loving. He weighs about 75 pounds. He can shake, sit, and lay on command. He is house broken. He is an outdoor dog who sleeps indoors and is very aware of the surroundings. He is a typical puppy that loves to jump and dig. Emerson has had a lot of exposure to other dogs and children.
His owners have to move and want to find him a great home. They need a home by 10/22/2005. He is also nuetered and is microchipped.(For information call 884-2042)

Babe [ADOPTED]
is a sweet, 10 year-old black Labrador whose elderly owner passed away earlier this year. She weighs about 70 lbs. and has been an indoor dog her whole life. Babe has no health issues and is current on her shots and license.
Here is what her previous foster mom had to say:
"..Babe has spent a lot of her life indoors with her owner. Since she has been with me, a friend has taken her on hikes with his dog, and she has gradually built up her activity level. She has also become pretty good at walking off leash on hikes. She is very loving, social, and generally well behaved. She has done well with my dogs also. My house here is set up with doggie doors and a fenced yard. She picked up, on her first stay with me, on the doggie doors immediately and has never had an accident of any kind. I had her shots updated in January along with a routine vet examination. Her medical records will be coming with her. I also had her tested for heartworm this month (negative) and started her on Heartguard. Babe is in excellent health and my vet...thinks it likely that she could well live another six years or so, and is willing to provide information to prospective adoptive families."

[ADOPTED]
is a 3 year old, 90 pound, yellow, purebred, male Lab. He knows his basic commands but sometimes his puppyness comes through and he forgets. With his size and playfulness he is a little too rough for another of the owner's dogs who is recouping from surgery. Rusty is neutered and he has been basically an outside dog,
but is well mannered when he does come in. He rides well in a car, walks OK on a leash and has never attempted to escape to see the world. Rusty is good with other dog and bigger kids. Rusty lives in Clovis.Transportation can be arranged. [For information, call Clovis 505-763-4657]

Shadow is a sweet[ADOPTED]
older Lab girl that really deserves a loving home. Her human 'mom' just passed away and the husband travels across country and is not able to care for her. There is no family to help out and she needs placement soon. She is 9 years old, spayed, housebroken and UTD on all vaccinations and preventives. She is strictly a house dog and will be adopted as such. Her owner says she sleeps a lot and is tolerant of the grandkids. If they become too rambunctious, she simply gets up and finds a quiet place. She will need that special 'someone' to help her journey into old age and love her for her remaining years.
Her owner was able to get someone to come in and feed, water and let her out. This is not the case now. He has had to put her outside because he can only get someone to come once a day. She needs help now.
For more information on Shadow or to request an adoption application, call Connie at 308-346-4376 in Burwell, NE or e-mail snowshoe@cablene.com.
If you can give this girl a home we'll figure some way to get her here or if you have friends in NE.

Sassy has everything a family would want, now we need to get that family to want Sassy. (For information call: 891-9351 or 489-7562)
Hi, my name is Princess.[ADOPTED]
I am a 1 yr. old female Black Labrador. I look like a purebred but showed up at the shelter's doorstep. I have the best personality and love everything that is around. I would make a wonderful family pet. I hate being locked in my kennel and would love to go home with you.
GET ON THE PUPPY LIST!!!
2 purebred Labs

Hi, my name is Freckles[ADOPTED]img src="freckles h.jpg "height=225 width=225 align=left> I'm a brindle colored labrador mix. I'm 5 years old and already spayed. I'm very friendly and good with kids. I've lived at the Lea County Humane Society for a very long time; therefore, I have a discounted adoption fee and I am only $50.00. I do fabulous with cats and dogs. I would be a perfect pet. I am very laid back and I am desperately looking for a home.
[ADOPTED]is a 4 year old, 60 pound, female, yellow, Lab. This beauty is spayed, housebroken, good with dogs and kids of all ages. Aspen has as yet not had the pleasure of meeting a cat up close and personal. Her owner's work schedule leaves little time for this highly social Lab. It is with great regret, for Aspen's own good, they are looking for a home with more stay at home folks.[For information, call 321-2593]
(pictured) is[ADOPTED]
a 4 year old, 75 pound, papered, purebred, black Lab. This handsome guy has everything, he is neutered, housebroken, gets alone with dogs, cats and kids of all ages. Mick has also duck hunted for a couple of years! A change in the owners work schedule means less time for Mick.
Smokey[ADOPTED]
weighs about 85 lbs., neutered, approx 2.5 yrs old, utd on shots, rabies, heartworm negative. He was turned in because his owner has to go into a nursing home-turned in 6/8/05. Droopy ears, brown eyes, short, straight coat Very scared at this time-had a home but now in a shelter environment. Seems to get along well with people and other dogs.
Just a little cautious with people right now but not in any aggressive or threatening way-just I think disoriented at the moment. Has been in Adoptable Dogs in hopes he will get a home but so far no one has adopted him. Perhaps if he morphed into a smaller dog, he would get lots of potential adopters. Smokey's color is unique -it is appropriate to his name. Smokey looks like a chocolate and black Lab got together and there was Smokey.
[ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, 80 pound, male purebred, yellow Lab. Owner moving out of state to a very small yard in which Buddy would not be too happy. This is a good family dog and a dog good with other animals. Has been around kids and cats all of his life. Buddy is neutered and has ben an outside dog.
[ADOPTED]
is a 2 1/2 year old, 70 pound, yellow, purebred, male Lab. Family schedules make it hard to give Mr. Bud the exercise and attention he needs. This good dog gets along with other dogs, cats and kids big enough to stand up to his loving, playful nature. Buddy is neutered and has been primarily an outside dog.
Buddy live in Nambe, NM. Transportation can be arranged.
Ree [ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, purebred, chocolate female Lab. This beauty is good with dogs and cats and is being spayed on 6/21/05. She has been at the vets too long (came
- Marli [ADOPTED]
is a 1 1/2 year old, 60 pound, purebred, black, female Lab. This big girl is living up to her breed and age and can use an owner with knowledge and time to work with her. Her current family realizes she needs more than they can give her. Marli is not spayed, up to date on shots, seems very comfortable in the house but has been primarily an outside dog. She is OK with dogs, likes kids but tends to be a little
rough with the little ones and owner is not sure about cats. She loves to fetch and bring back a tennis ball or whatever toy you got and loves large(mammoth) bones. Marli is in Clovis, if you are not, transporation can be arranged.
- Hunter(Picture) [ADOPTION PENDING]
is a 14 month old, 70 pound, purebred, chocolate, male, Lab. Owner found herself with more dogs than time. Active Lab for an active owner.
[ADOPTED]
is a 11 month old, 60 pound, purebred, female, yellow Lab. Too mny animals, too little time has Foundher looking for a new home. This sweet loving and calm beauty is spayed, crate and leash trained, loves dogs, cats (maybe not loves cats, but tolerates them) also loves kids and water.
With housetraining, she is almost there.
[ADOPTED]
is a 2 year old, 95 pound (should be 85), yellow, purebred, male Lab. Time for the owner to "thin out his herd" and Duke is the most adopable so he gets to go to a new loving home. Duke is housebroken, good with kids, not sure about cats but he leaves the chickens alone. He is not neutered, but very much wants to be. He loves to retrieve and to play.
Bella [ADOPTED] is a 2 yr. old, spayed, female. She is really a beautiful dog - a real lady. Loves to hang out in the house with us - this one is not rough and tumble.
She is somewhat tentative a first - was thrown out of an automobile at a very young age. Bella is sweet, gentle and sleek looking.
- Daisy [ADOPTED] is a 7 year old, 90 pound, purebred chocolate, female Lab. Divorce leaves Daisy with no place to grow. She is good with dogs, cats and kids of all ages. This mellow lady is spayed and housebroken the only thing she needs is to lose some weight. If you could use some exercise, so could Daisy.
Mae Mae - [ADOPTED]
female chocolate lab approximately 6 yrs old. Very friendly and outgoing - does great with other dogs but prefers her human companions. Appears to prefer the indoors. Mae Mae was found wondering in the streets and her owners never came looking for her.............she seems to adjust well to new situations and is just happy to have someone around. She loves to put her feet in the water bowl and would be thrilled to have a small pool to cool off in.
- Zoe[ADOPTED]
is a 4 1/2 year old, 65 pound, purebred, white/yellow, female Lab. The family is moving out of state, and Zoe would like to stay in New Mexico. We need to find her a new home. She is spayed, crate trained, semi-housebroken, good with dogs and kids of all ages. There have been no cats in her life. She is not a digger, barker nor jumper. Zoe is shy around new people, but when she gets to know you, she's a 100% Lab lover.
Pooper [ADOPTED] is a 4 month old,
female, yellow Lab mix. She came to the center 5/6 and is available for adoption now. ID# 864232 Eastside.
[ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, 70 pound, purebred, female, chocolate Lab. This sweet family dog is spayed, housebroken, kennel trained, gets along with dogs, cats and kids. She is also a trained bird hunter. So why would a dog like this be looking for a new home? Cleo is a trained bird dog and her owner has moved to a more rural area and has--you guessed it--chickens.
Ted[ADOPTED]
is a 9 month old, 100 pound, mass o' Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix. This guy is just a big cuddly bear whose owner is in between houses and needs a place for her baby from June to mid-September. Ted is neutered, microchipped, good with dogs, cats and kids. Due to circumstances he has been an outside dog. Given the breeds of dog he is, he is ever on the watch for wolves or any thing else that might affect his "flock" so outside he can get noisy. (Maybe his foster family will consider converting him to inside at night.)
- Sarah[ADOPTED]
is an 11 month old, 50 pound, female, purebred, black Lab. This typical young Lab (plus some) is proving a bit much for her owner so she is ready to go to a home that would enjoy her energy. Sarah is good with dogs and kids, with cats an unknown. This beautiful girl is spayed, housebroken and up to date with her shots. ID #110383
We have a chocolate Lab puppy (Choca)[ADOPTED] - 8 wks old - we got her out of West side and she is currently being treated for parvo. Once she recovers she will be available for adoption. Her adoption fee is $125.00 and includes spay, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines. (picture coming) - looking for a puppy?
Logger [ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, neutered, yellow/white male Lab.
. Here is what the Roswell Humane staff has to say about this rare guy.
"Remember Logger, the cream Lab with the bad leg? Well, we finally found out what is causing it. Evidently, he has a bacterial infection eating away the bone. He will require an amputation(hindleg). Our question is...how adoptable is a 3 legged Lab that has the world's best personality? He's housebroken, chipped, likes other animals and kids. He's the best of all worlds-..calm, sweet, not hyper."
We won't let his leg cost his life. LODESTAR Dog Ranch will cover the cost of his operation. Any donations we can get from fellow Lab lovers that will help us help Logger will be appreciated. Don't wait, this guy won't last long.
- Sandy [ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 65 pound, white/yellow purebred w/papers, Lab. This pretty girl's family is very busy and realize this is not fair to a highly active Lab. Sandy is spayed, good with other dogs and kids of all ages. She has been an ouside dog, but it is believed she would like to change that. This is an active dog--you an active family?
Ben [ADOPTED] is a 1-yr. old neutered, yellow, male.
All shots are up-to-date. Ben was found wandering in Clovis, NM. He was very thin, upon his arrival, but he has gained weight and looks wonderful. This is a dog with a great temperament - sweet, gentle and well behaved. He has been around other people, dogs of both sexes (we have two other males on premises) and cats. He gets along well with everyone. Ben has been evaluated by a certified trainer for the handicapped. He was found to be in the 98th percentile for service. This is a dog with great potential and intelligence. His best placement would be with someone with physical disabilities.
Blue [ADOPTED]is a beautiful and happy puppy. He is fearless, investigative, and he learns quickly. He is very well behaved, due to the obedience training he has received. He is approximately 12 weeks old.(Contact information: call, 505-671-8407)
- Maheta [ADOPTED]is a 6-9 month old, 25 pound, female, black Lab. This little girl wondered up to the house of a nice woman who took her in months ago. It was not expected to be a long term relationship and the woman's 14 year old Lab is being "puppied" unnecessarily, so it's time little Maheta find her own home.
Lucy [ADOPTED] is a 11 month old, 35 pound, black Lab mix. This little girl was rescued from the Albuquerque East Side Animal Shelter.
She was brought into the shelter as a stray with an injured leg which healed with a little limp. She is a very active dog and plays well with others. She is not house trained at this time and will need a doggy door and another dog to play with. Lucy loves people and is a very confident happy girl. She is spayed and has had two set of shots. Despite her rough start in life, she seems to have a great attitude toward humans.(Photo courtesy of joycefay.com)

This placement is necessary due to a military deployment. Every effort will be made to place the Blues Brothers together. If we can't, we can't.
- Molly and Sasha [BOTH ADOPTED] are two, female, purebred, yellow/white Labs. Both are good with other dogs and have been with young children all of their lives. Molly is 4 years old and spayed.
Sasha is 3 years old and not spayed. They have been with their owners since they were puppies and it is with great sadness that they have to find a new home. The owner's family circumstances have changed and the dogs are not receiving the attention they need. Both Labs are housebroken, crate-trained, do not dig, jump nor bark. They go as a pair.
- Sunny [ADOPTED] is a 7 month old, 45 pound, purebred, yellow, female Lab. This beauty's owner has to move and the new digs are a bit small for an active Lab. Sunny is not a digger, jumper, nor barker, she has not been with other dogs but it's believed that would be no problem. She has also not been with cats, but she has been with a toddler all of her life. Sunny is not spayed (currently), is a good fetched, swims and is gun broke.
- Sunshine [ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old purebred, 85 pound, male, yellow Lab. His elderly owner's health has given out and it's time for them to consider different living arrangements. Sunshine is neutered, up to date with his shots and microchipped for identification. He is a calm, young Lab needing a home. He currently lives with Winston a neutered, 30 pound, Aussi-Shepherd/Border Collie mix who also needs to find a home. They get along real well together, but given the circumstances they can each go their own way.(For information call: 265-1990)
Connor [ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, male, black Lab. This guy can sit, give paw and rides well in a car.
- Molly [ADOPTED FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE]is an 11 month old, purebred, 65 pound, female, black Lab. This is a good dog that is just too much puppy for her loving owners time of life. She is neutered, microchipped for identification and up to date on her shots. Molly rides well in a car, is create trained and knows basic commands. She does not dig, bark nor jump, is good with other dogs and cats but tends to play rough--so lets make it big dogs and big cats. Molly been raised with horses and seems to enjoy their company.
Gunner [ADOPTED] is a handsome, 1 year old, neutered, chocolate male.
He had a deformed canine tooth sticking straight out, boring a hole through his cheek. The canine was removed and the cheek sewn shut and neutered. He looks good as new. Gunner is a very nice boy, not 1 year old hyper. Pulls a bit on the lead at first, but stops, drops, and rolls for belly rubs. He WILL NOT jump on you, so someone has worked with him.
Dillon [ADOPTED] is a 3 year old, male, black Lab mix.
He came to the shelter 2/14 and is available for adoption. ID#849872 Westside.
Ginger [ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, 40 pound purebred, spayed, housebroken, chocolate Lab. She was adopted before I could even get her on the website.
PJ [ADOPTED] a little yellow Lab pup.
A picture is worth a 1000 words.
Rosie[ADOPTED] 2 year old chocolate Lab.
- Bailey [ADOPTED] is a 1 year old, 65 pound, yellow/white, purebred, female Lab. The owners do not have enough time left at the end of the day to give a 1 year old Lab what she needs most(exercise). Bailey comes fully equipped. She is spayed, housebroken and up to date with her shots. She is not a barker or a digger, has no problem with cats but she does like to greet you by a good old pup jump. A purebred, female Lab pup--won't last long.
- Allie [ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, 90 pound, purebred, female, black Lab.
This big girl could win a doggy beauty contest if she would lose 15 pounds. This is why her owner would like to place her--not enought time to give Allie exercise. Allie is good with dogs and kids, but we're not sure about cats. She is spayed and housebroken.
- Hoppy [ADOPTED] is a 8 week old,
AKC registered, chocolate Lab. This little guy is the last of a litter. His owner is a breeder.
- Jerry Lee [ADOPTED] is a 1 1/2 year old, 65 pound, male, purebred, black Lab. This handsome guy is not a digger, jumper nor barker, he loves kids of all ages and has never met a cat. Jerry Lee is a real good fetcher and is housebroken. He is not neutered so the new owner would have to agree to rectify that situation. He currently resides in Las Vegas, NM. Typical young Lab looking for a young Lab's home.
Someone dumped a mother Lab and ten puppies
at Animal Control and said to euthanize them all. Of course, they didn't.
The black, yellow and chocolate puppies are going out to a foster and were ready to be adopted around the end of January. -- [THE WHOLE FAMILY WAS ADOPTED]
- Tyrone Samson [ADOPTED] is a registered 17 month old,
90-100 pound, male, black Lab. This handsome purebred guy is great with kids. (The owner says, "My 2 year old enjoys feeding him in the mornings and throwing his chew bones for him to retrieve.) Tyrone is also good with other dogs and cats. Ty has outgrown his yard and the family busy schedule makes it hard to give him the exercise he needs so he exercises himself in the back yard in typical Lab pup fashion. Tyrone is in Roswell but the owner is willing to talk about transportation. The big guy is not neutered, but for the sake of all the Labs looking for homes in New Mexico
Libby(pictured) [ADOPTED] is a 2 1/2 year old, 50 pound, black, female,
Lab/Gordon Setter mix. This girl is spayed, good with dogs and kids, has no experience with cats.
Her owner is a college student whose circumstances have changed, and he needs to find a home for Libby by this weekend.
- Rootbeer [ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, 75 pound, female, chocolate Lab. This lady has good energy for approaching "middle age." She is spayed and housebroken. She is good with kids, but let's make them older the little ones get knocked over too easily. Rootbeer has not been with other dogs or cats, but her dispositon is such that we feel she could adjust.
- Beau [ADOPTED] is a 6-7 year old, well trained, 80 pound, yellow Lab. He is good with dogs, cats and kids is not a jumper, digger nor barker. Here is what his owner has to say:
" Beau has been with us since spring of 2004. He loves to play with the kids: Frisbee catch and fetch are two of his favorites. But he will also tolerate dress up and horsey, funny faced doggy (ears spread wide as a jetliners wings), and a flying superhuman boy pummeling into his soft underbelly (but he'll let superboy know that it hurt). He can heel, and is great on a leash. However, the kids have trained him to be skate dog extraordinaire (picture multiple kids on skates, each attached to dog with a strong leashes and dog pulling like and Alaskan sled dog in that famous race). Mom takes him running, where she brings a leash, but rarely uses it as Beau is kind to other dogs and their owners and he does stay with her(unless something smells really good and call is needed to remind Beau that he's on a walk.). He is highly motivated by food and walks. He is a family dog, and will not be happy unless he is included as one of the family. He desires to be where you are at most times. If he is locked outside when you are in, or in when you are out, he will let you know he would prefer to be with you. He likes to eat his mealtimes when you are eating yours (but don't get me wrong, he's happy to eat his meals whenever you feed him). He likes to sleep in the hall or on the floor in the kids or your room. He is a fabulous family dog. So you ask why would we be searching for a new home for him? Mom has developed asthma, and Beau has made it clear he is not an outside dog, he is part of the family. Since Mom really likes to breathe, we are trying to find a new happy home for him."
- Dixie [ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, 80 pound, purebred, female, yellow Lab. The family has a lot on their plate and do not have time for this beautiful girl. She is not spayed. (New owner must agree to do right by her.) Dixie has lived primarily outdoors because when she comes in she is sooo happy she rearranges the furniture. A purebred yellow--won't last long.
- Billie Holiday [ADOPTED]
Here is what her owner has to say:
Certified pre-owned, low mileage , medium energy dog. 3 year old , Spayed female AKC chocolate lab. House broken (large capacity bladder) Never left outside. Comes with obedience training. Devotes chewing energy to rawhide bones. Can clear coffee tables with vigorous wags of her tail.
Enjoys daily walks, and does not pull nor drag, but should be kept on a lead as when she sites a rabbit, all bets are off. Rides sedately in cars, does not even leave doggie snoodle marks on the glass. Well mannered does not dig or jump. Moonlights as a feline hairdresser, grooming housecat’s fur in dog slobber spikes. Sleeps well with humans, curls up into tidy dog knot and rarely snores. Knows: sit, stay, heel, come, get on the other side of the bed and stop licking. Adores being close to her humans. Likes other dogs, but is a beta and can be easily bullied out of her food dish, even by cats. Lives to have hands touching her. Comes fully accessorized (leads, toys, food) and with up to date shots ( 12/2004). Gives prim dry kisses.
Peggy [ADOPTED] is a 9 month old, spayed, female, black Lab. (waiting for her picture) This good dog came to the shelter 1/3 and is available for adoption. She fell into the cracks of the system and has been in the shelter too long. without anyone knowing about her. Well worth taking a look at. ID#843728 Westside.
Jet a 10 year old, black,
female Lab and Koback, a 7 year old, pure Malamute.
Ruger was a dog in the Roswell shelter, then named Logger.
After some medical evaluation he was adopted to the benefit of all concerned.
- Mokha and Ebany [BOTH ADOPTED] are mother and daughter.
Mokah mom is a 4 1/2 year old, 90 pound, chocolate Lab. Ebany is 2 1/2 years old and 80 pounds of black Lab. A change in the family situation makes it too difficult to give them the attention they need and deserve.
Both these gals could benefit from doggy Weight Watchers, but that should be cared for when their new owners get them moving around. They are both spayed, good with other dogs and have had no experince with cats. Mokha is more settled down, and Ebany is a typical young Lab.
It would be nice if they could go together, but they can be separated.
Lady [ADOPTED] is a 7 year old, spayed, female, black Lab.
She came to the shelter 12/16 and is available for adoption. Lots of good buzz on this gal. ID#746254 Westside.
The following young dogs won't ever touch the Earth or sniff the wind again if they don't find friends fast. Can you help even one make it to safety? Soon?
Please call immediately if you or anyone else you know might be able to get someone out of harm's way long enough for us to help them find homes. 505-501-1887. Please.
Lab - Female - Black [ADOPTED] Purebred - 1 1/2 yrs.
"My name is Bruce. [ADOPTED]I'm a Lab/possibly Terrier mix, about 4 mo old. I enjoy sitting on the couch, giving sweet kisses, & playing silly games. I'm house, crate, & leash trained. I get along with cats, dogs, kids..... you name it,
I love them all! I'm really looking to please my new owner in what ever sport you like, agility, obedience, channel surfing, what ever pleases you. All I ask is you don't judge me by my ears.
Sadly my first owners cut my ears with scissors. They wanted me to look mean. Fortunately I was rescued from an uncertain life, and am ready to find a new future. I'm looking for a wonderful home with lots of love to give! Call 203-9586"
- Jack [ADOPTED] adult, neutered, yellow Lab. Here is what his owner has to say:
"He is a great dog that needs a better owner.
I’m traveling all the time now due to job demands and he isn’t getting enough attention. If there is a good person out there that wants a fantastic dog, please have them contact me. Jack is about 4-5 years old (I got him from the Roswell shelter). He’s 90 pounds, yellow lab, very well-behaved, not a barker, jumps only when dinner is served. A great, natural field dog. Totally devoted to his family, and protective of the house (a good watch dog). This is the best dog I have ever had. He really needs a home where he can get a workout every day and/or has room to run." Call 771-4983 or 235-4702.

This dog loves water, is a great fetcher, can capture a chicken and not hurt it, but is a lunkhead around horses. He has been nailed enough times his owner feels for his own good Butch should find a place without horses, and for good measure, let's make Butch an only dog. He is neutered and knows basic commands. Hunting potential? (Contact information: call 281-9269)
- Moshi[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, 55 pound, male, yellow, very Labby Lab mix. This handsome guy is good with dogs, cats and kids. He is neutered and great when left alone in the house. His owner is a student with other dogs and a lot on her plate. So to give Moshi the attention he needs she is very reluctently looking for a new home for her guy. Call 720-9027
[Adopted] is a handsome, 3 year old, purebred, male, yellow Lab. He is housebroken, neutered, good with cats and kids. He had trouble with a dog he lived with, so maybe if he were the only dog, that would be the best. This big guy is 115 pounds of pure love. Tara is not spayed and has been an outside dog, but at her age both of those conditions can be changed. Her owner has been sent on vacation at government expense, so Tara needs to find a good stable home.
[ADOPTED] is a 4 year old, 75 pound, purebred. male white/yellow Lab. Shane just doesn't seem happy after a change in family schedule. His owner thinks different scenery may help. This dog is good with other dogs, great with children of all ages, is not a digger but, as with most healthy Labs, can jump a 4 foot fence. Shane is not neutered (yet), a bit timid around men and is very housebroken.
[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, 75 pound, male, black Lab (90%)mix. Due to some moves in the family this mature, neutered, housebroken guy needs to make a move of his own. Chico is good with kids, other dogs and has not been with cats.
Hunter [ADOPTED] is a 3 year old 55, pound, male, yellow, purebred Lab. Hunter's owners are moving in a couple of days and do not feel it's right to take Hunter. His new backyard would not be large enough. The Lab they are leaving behind is neutered, crate trained, good with young kids and stays in a backyard with a 4+ foot fence. As if Hunter needs any other selling point, he has been hunting with his owner.
Sydney [ADOPTED]is a 5 month old, 35 pound, black Lab mix. This little lady is very calm for her, age she is spayed, microchipped for identifiaction, and up to date on her shots. FROM THE HEART RESCUE-WEST TEXAS
T-Bone [ADOPTED PENDING HOME VISIT]--I'll let his foster mom tell you about him.
"We just got in a 4-1/2 month old, 35 lb, yellow lab pup (male).
He is just about the sweetest and calmest pup I have ever had the pleasure to foster. He came to us because his owners abandoned him at the emergency clinic with parvo. We picked up the bill and they released him to us. He has tested negative for parvo now,
so is looking to find a home."
Aren't there some great people in this world. Parvo is not an inexpensive disease.
(T-Bone's contact information: inquire through either FromTheHeartRescue@hotmailcom
or call From The Heart Rescue at (915)526-0628. E-mail is preferred!
Whitey [ADOPTED]
is a 3 year old, 45 pound, male, Lab/German Shepherd mix. This guy is very well trained, good with kids, cats and other dogs. He is not neutered, is housebroken and has lived, and stayed, in a home with a 4 foot fence.

Taylor [ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, 50 pound, female, chocolate Lab whogrew too big for her yard. She does not bark, jump nor dig, is OK with other dogs, kids, cats an unknown. She is not spayed but is housebroken.
Loretta (pictured) [ADOPTED]is a 3 year old, 80 pound, purebred, yellow Lab.
Loretta made the following comments about herself:
HELLO, I'M A BIG GIRL AND STILL ACT A LOT LIKE A PUPPY. I'M STRONG AND PRETTY POWERFUL, SO I'M NOT RECOMMENDED FOR HOUSES WITH LITTLE KIDS. I MEAN WELL, BUT DON'T KNOW MY OWN STRENGTH. I NEED TO GO TO A HOME WITH AN EXPERIENCED OWNER WHO IS VERY ACTIVE- I NEED A LOT OF EXERCISE AND TRAINING TO BE MOST MANAGEABLE. HOWEVER I AM VERY FRIENDLY AND AFFECTIONATE AND GET ALONG FINE WITH OTHER DOGS. I TEND TO USE MY MOUTH A LOT WHEN I PLAY, AND I PLAY REALLY HARD. I MAY BE BEST AS A FARM OR RANCH DOG, WHERE I HAVE SPACE TO DO MY OWN THING.
Her time is running out. If you think you could give her what she needs, call today.

[ADOPTED]is a 1 year old, black, 45 pound, Lab mix. This girl is a tall and lean beauty. She is spayed, housebroken, gets along with dogs and kids, but has had no experience with cats. Silky has been described by her owner and a neighbor as sweet, smart and gentle. She is looking for a place with room to roam, a family to love, and a more than 4 foot fence.
[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, white/yellow,
thought to be pure Lab. He was adopted from the shelter a month ago but was not greeted with enthusiasm by the owner's current dog. Maybe it's best Matty find a new home. He is neutered, housebroken, microchipped,
up to date on shots. He is not a digger, jumper or barker. This is a package ready to go.
Lucky [ADOPTED] black Lab with AKC papers,(for copies of the papers call us @505-286-3729) one year old, 70 pounds.
Break up of a human relationship forces the owner of Lucky to place him in shelter though the owner had had him since 6 weeks of age. We went to see him at the center, he looked handsome and bewildered. He is in building A, kennel 32. ID#719788 Eastside.
Nemo[ADOPTED] is a yellow (very Labby) Lab mix puppy, 10 week old male, healthy, first shots. Loves people and other dogs, confident, outgoing, smart, agile, good SAR or hunt prospect. Mostly housebroken already, learned to use the dog door in less than two days. Already taking on-leash walks, sleeps quietly in a crate at night. A super pup!
[ADOPTED] is a 13 month old,
75 pound, purebred, chocolate Lab. As if that is not enough, he is neutered, housebroken and gets along with dogs. Why would anyone wish to place a Lab like this you say? He is a typical young Lab. I have seen Hershey, and he is everything you would want
in a young Lab except he...(give me a call and I'll tell you). If you know Labs, and have worked with young Labs before, Hershey will be worth considering.
Monty [ADOPTED] is an 8 month old, male, yellow Lab. He is believed to be purebred and is very sweet..
- Sandy[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, papered, yellow, female Lab. This pretty little (45 pounds) girl is acting every bit her 2 years and is proving too much for her 14 year old chocolate housemate. Sandy is currently not spayed but please promise to care for that ommission. (Albuquerque is putting down 300+ animals a week, let's not make more.) Sandy is crate trained, good with dogs and kids. Cats an unknown.
[ADOPTED] a 6 year old, 80 pound, housebroken, chocolate Lab who is a hunting champion with ribbons to prove it. Moose is in a situation where he is not getting along with his fellow dog. (This situation is not believed to be fault of the Moose.) He is neutered, loves to be with his people and is not a digger, jumper nor barker.
Charlie [ADOPTED]is a 2 year old,
chocolate Lab who has some bad luck being placed and returned twice--neither return was Charlie's fault. Charlie is neutered,
housebroken and good on a leash. He's just a good Lab looking for the right home. You it?
[ADOPTED]is a 7 month old, 45 pound,
female Lab. This cutie was just spayed, she is up to date on her shots and is semi-housebroken. She has had no experience with other dogs
but is good with cats and kids. A move puts Cookie's reluctant owner in the position of having to place this good pup.
Sassie [ADOPTED] is a 7 year old, black,
100 pound, female, pure Lab. This big girl is spayed, microchipped, gets along well with dogs, kids and tolerates cats.(Also, it would seem, loves to have her belly rubbed.) A move to a home with a smaller back yard made it tough for Sassie to get her exercise. Her current owners say,"she is a good dog and deserves to live a long happy life." Amen.
This is a nice adult dog that could use an involved family. She was brought to the shelter by her owner on 7/15. ID # 586357 Westside.
[ADOPTED] is a 2 year old, beautiful, 70 pound, female, black, Lab. She was left behind when her owner moved. June was found by a good guy who took her to the shelter then adopted her out. He is now looking for a permanent home for his friend. June was found with her companion of 2 years, a small, spayed, 2 year old, shepherd mix. Both are available for adoption.
is a 3 year old, spayed, microchipped white/yellow Lab. Here is what her owners has to say about her:
"Shelby [ADOPTED]
is very loving to children. She has never once growled at my boys. She lets my youngest boy lay all over her and doesn’t even care. She is great with kids and other dogs. Shelby's only down fall is that she likes to run down the street with my other dog when she gets a chance to sneak out the door."
Scout [ADOPTED](pictured) is a three-legged, calm, sweet, purebred, 70 pound, neutered, male, 3-4 year old, yellow Lab.
He was shot and left to die and was luckily found by someone without a gun before he starved to death. Scout is good with other dogs and kids, but has a thing against cats (especially cats with guns). He can do the standard sit, stay, etc..He is heartworm negative, up to date on his shots and microchipped. This is a good dog who loves people despite every reason not to. He doesn't care that he only has 3 legs, and neither should you.
Abby and Maggie[ADOPTED TOGETHER] two fine, purebred, ladies are looking for a new home.
Abby is a 8 years old, black, 75 pounds, spayed, queen
Maggie is a 6 year old, yellow, 60 pound, spayed, princess.
Both beautiful Labs are housebroken, good with dogs, cats and kids. An unfortunate change in their owner and best friends's circumstances requires they look for a new home. They have been together all of Maggie's life so if we can keep them together that would be best for both of the girls, but if it's not to be, it's not to be.
Mocha [ADOPTED] is 1 1/2 year old, 95 pounds of handsome, purebred, chocolate Lab. He is neutered, housebroken and crate trained. Unfortunately he outgrew his house and his owner knows his "confined" life is not right for a big, healthy Lab. Now, every dog has a wart--Mocha's is that he is food agressive, so a family that can work around, or train through, this situatuion can have themsleves a lover for life.
Susy,[ADOPTED] 4 and 1/2 months old, is looking for a forever home. Her owners moved and left her behind. Suzy is a 30 pound, black lab mix who needs spaying and has a hernia. The present foster mom says Suzy is sweet, not a digger or barker, but obviously some money will have to be spent to get her completely "A--OK."
Sunny is a 1 year old, 55 pound, high energy, female, yellow, purebred Lab. She is spayed and is semi-housebroken. This is a dog who is starting to establish herself and that is causing troubles with the older dog in the household. Sunny is good with cats and kids and would be good with a dog that can remind her that she is still a puppy. [ADOPTED]
Jewel is a 7 month old, 60 pound, purebred, chocolate Lab. As if that is not enough to get her a new home, she is housebroken, good with dogs, cats and kids, not a jumper digger, nor barker. This beautiful girl is not spayed but the new owner would have to promise, for the sake of Jewel and the community, to get her snipped. She belongs to a military family that has too many dogs on base.[ADOPTED]
Joe is a 8 month old, 80 pound, black, purebred Lab. He is proving too much for his current family. (Nothing unusual, just acting like a young Lab.) Joe has not been trained, is intact and semi-housebroken. This is a good dog waitng for someone to make him a great dog. [ADOPTED]
Candy is a young yellow lady that found herself in the Los Lunas shelter. Good dog, bad situation. [ADOPTED]
Hope is a 2 year old, 50 pound, purebred, black, female Lab. This friendly, loveable, little girl is not a digger. barker nor jumper. She gets along well with other dogs and kids, She has had no experience with cats, but it's a good bet she would be fine. Hope is not spayed nor is she housebroken. Both are correctable conditions; what is not correctable is that she is blind. Don't be turned off by her inability to see. That sense in dogs is overrated. Using her other senses, makes Hope all the more lovable and devoted to her people.[ADOPTED]
Lola [ADOPTED] is a 1/1/2 year old, female, 65 pound, black Lab. She is housebroken, spayed good with dog. cats and kids.
Buddy [ADOPTED] is a 6 year old, 80 pound, yellow Lab.
He has been a faithful friend of his owner for all of Buddy's life but has begun to show a dislike for farm animals. This situation doesn't work for the family, so they are looking for a home for Buddy devoid of farm animals. Buddy is neutered and housebroken, gets along well with other dogs, cats and kids.
- Abby[ADOPTED] is a 5 year old, black, 60 pound, spayed and housebroken Lab. As she matures she has become more alpha, this is causing problems amoung her housemates. Abby is a dog good with kids and cats, she is basic trained and walks well on a leash.
- Ben [ADOPTED] Lilly's 5 month old puppy from Las Cruces.
is a fully trained, 2 1/2 year old, 60 pound, purebred, chocolate Lab. Owners are moving. Jake is good with kids and dogs. Cats an unknown. To top off this great dog, he is also neutered and housebroken. What more could you want? [ADOPTED]
is a 1 1/2 year old, 60 pound, female, yellow Lab. She is housbroken and spayed. Her owner has moved and Tessa doesn't have the room they would like to give her. Trap is a purebred, 1 1/2 year old, black, spayed female was turned in by her owner. I guess he didn't have enough time for her. He did seem to have enough time to feed her; she is a bit over weight. Nice dog. (For more information call Jeff @ 505-356-4404 X301)
Here is what Jeff has to say:
"I have obtained the paperwork on the Black female spayed Lab. Trap is a pureblood black Labrador Retriever and we have the signed AKC registration application that was never sent in. She was born on November 15, 2002. She is a very friendly dog that either was not fully trained, or has been neglected and relapsed. She likes to pull on the leash, and heel is a foreign word. She does not appear to have a mean bone in her body and gets along well with other dogs.
Contacted the veterinarian and they have a record of her getting all of her vaccinations, which are up to date. There does not appear to be anything wrong with her, except she needs to loose a little weight.
It is imperative that we get this dog adopted as soon as possible." [ADOPTED]
Buddy is a 4 year old, 60 pound, yellow Lab.
This guy was trained for police work, but didn't make the cut. That still makes him a Lab with good potential. Buddy is neutered, housebroken and up to date on his shots. This is a good indoor dog for those who would like a loyal companion. Buddy's not sure what to make of young children so he would just as soon flatten them as look at them. It is recommended Buddy be the only animal so he can get the attention he believes he deserves, and be in a family with no, or older, children.[ADOPTED]

Cheyenne is a yellow, male, 2-3 years old, very Labby, Lab mix. He is current on his shots and is neutered. The word is he is good with cats. He is currently in foster care in Placitas after being rescued from the Valencia County Shelter where his owner had dumped him for chewing. His foster parent says he is a great dog - no problems.
This picture is not of him but of his "twin." Cheyenne has a darker nose.[ADOPTED]
Dusty is an 8 year old, 75 pound, lover Lab.
He is neutered, housebroken (sleeps with the owners) and up to date with his shots. This is a great age for a Lab. His new owner can look forward to many more years of a big calm friend around the house. Dusty is a bit impatient with young children, so let's go with a home without the wee ones. [ADOPTED]
Shadow is a 14 month old, male, 70 pound, black, pure Lab. He is high energy (I did say he was 14 months, didn't I?). Shadow is not neutered (a correctable condition) and he has been an outside dog (another correctable condition). He loves water and has been used for hunting. Shadow is devoted and loyal young guy who is good with other dogs, cats and kids. He is not happy without his people fix.
What Shadow needs is:
A family with some stay at home people.
Someone willing to cover the meds he needs for his allergies.[RETAINED BY OWNER]

Diamond and her 6 pups.-- Momma Diamond is a yellow Lab, 60 pounds and about 3 years old. She and her new family were found at the "side of the road" by a kind family who took them home to Clovis, NM and nursed them through those early days. They are now ready to go, individually or as a group, to their permanent homes. Diamond appears to be housebroken, gets along with other dogs and kids; cats are of no interest to her. She is sweet dog. Her foster family will be moving soon and needs to find a home for Diamond and her pups. Two pups are yellow and look Lab/Retriever like; the others take after dad, whatever he was.[ADOPTED]

Smoky is a 6 1/2 year old, neutered, Lab/Corgie mix. His owner passed away and the family is looking to match his previous life where Smoky was content to lay around and be a petting recepticle. Smoky doesn't need, nor want, a lot of commotion.
As you can see, he has the legs, tail, ears of a corgie and the face, fur and dispositon of a Lab. So if you want a Lab that can walk under your coffee table, Smoky is your guy.[ADOPTED]
Duke is a 3 year old, male, 85 pound Chocolate. (They call him a mix, but it sure isn't obvious.) He is neutered, formally trained and microchipped. Fleur, a sweet 3 year old, yellow Lab, female was brought to the Albuquerque Emergency clinic on 12/23/03 and was diagnosed as needing an immediate hysterectomy or she would die. The owner said, "Put her down, I don't want her anymore." Lab lovers united. She was operated on the night of 12/23. and will be paid
for from donations. Very soon she will be 100%. What she needs now is a permanent home with somebody who has a heart. (12/29 update) Fleur is recovering well and nearly has a good appetite. She was very sick for a few days as her condition had been allowed to deteriorate long before the vet visit. As you can see she is a "looker" with beautiful lines.
Words from one who knows Fleur best:
"Her foster mom said she is healing well and her tail is wagging on overdrive. At first she was protective of her foster mom towards the other dogs. But she is now warming up to everyone. She is showing athletic ablity by jumping over a two foot partition board in the house. Her foster mom thinks she would be good with children and other dogs."
[ADOPTED]

This dog has personality plus and he's always looking to get to the action, so he is not the dog you can leave alone for 8 hours a day in a yard with a 4 foot fence. Buddy's ideal situation would be a large yard with at least a 6 foot wood or cinder block fence, or a home with no fence at all where he could be with his people all day. [ADOPTED]

Cordell gets along with dogs and kids (has no experience with cats). He is not a barker, digger or jumper over fences, (people are another story). This guy could use some training, but he's worth it.
Brutus and Mocha have been a couple for 5 years and have made babies. Their owner, for health reasons needs to move to a place that is not big Lab friendly. It is with great sadness, and much thought, they have decided to place them in a home where they can be Labs. Brutus and Mocha are both housebroken, do not dig jump nor bark, are up to date with their shots and have proof of their "purebrededness." Both Labs are chocolates, Brutus is 90 pounds,Mocha, a petite 60 pounds. They are not spayed or neutered so the new owner knows what his/her/their/ first activity will be with the dog (s). It would be nice if they were placed together but the owner says they would be OK apart. Two dogs like these don't come along too often.
.
Clint--2 years old, neutered, yellow male, Lab.

Yellow, 1 year old, male. Emerald (adopted) has been neutered, is up to date on his shots, likes dogs and kids. He's working on his realtionship with cats. His energy is that of a typical 1 year old Lab. Emerald is not a barker or a jumper, but may dig a nice comfortable hole in which to cool off. His owner, reluctantly, must place his animals due to his moving to a "no pets' environment. Emerald was lucky enought to get adopted by a nice lady from Colorado who took not only Emerald but also his mate, a 2 year old Golden. Nice end to this story.

Sweet, sweet, sweet. Just wants to be loved.
Lindsey is a 2 year old, 65 pound, black Lab mix, female. This
young lady and her doggy roommates agreed to disagree and somebody had to go. Since Lindsey seemed to be getting the worst of it, her owners had to make the tough, but correct decision. For Lindsey's safety, she is now at the ranch. She is spayed, housebroken and up to date on her shots. Lindsey is not a jumper or a digger, and her relationshp with cats is unknown. She is leash trained and her favorite pastime is chasing anything you can throw. This girl needs a home where she can spend her nights with her head in your lap. Got an empty lap? [RECLAIMED BY OWNERS]
McBeal and Sophie are two, 4 year old female beauties who found a place
to stay for about 2 to 4 months until their owner is able to take them back.
A domestic upheaval has left these two spayed, housebroken, fun dogs without a place
to crash until life gets back to "normal." Both McBeal and Sophie love to
hike and play ball making them a great summer addition to your family--they are real
kid's dogs. McBeal is about 85 pounds; sister Sophie is 75. They are not barkers, diggers or jumpers.

Black, male Lab, 2 years old, 65 pounds. Ryan lives in Los Alamos,
is housebroken, neutered,up to date on his shots and will be heartworm tested prior to adoption.
He is not a digger, barker nor jumper, but boy does he love to
chase horses. He would do well in obedience and probably would make a fine hunting companion or running
partner. If you have an active lifestyle and would like to have an adoring
companion, Ryan is the dog for you. (He is purebred but without AKC papers. He
is put together well, has an ideal double coat, and moves nicely).
Yellow, female Lab, 4 years old, 70 pounds and her partner a chocolate, male Lab,
5 years old 75 pounds. Isabel and Cole get alone with kids, dogs and cats.
They are both spayed/neutered and housebroken. Isabel has a big giant
"Fatal Attraction" crush on Cole and the owner would much perfer they stay
together (as I'm sure would Isabel). Both dogs are overweight and could really use a
family/person that could give them the exercise they desperately need. They are not diggers, jumper nor barkers. They found a family with the room in their house and heart for two?
br>
Black, male Lab, three years old, one hundred pounds. Duke is neutered
(No more little Dukes; he's one of a kind!). He is
housebroken and has decided he doesn't like cats or dogs that look like cats.
He is good with older kids and other bigger dogs. He doesn't dig or jump.
Duke is a big, muscular, gentle dog that loves to go camping and follow
his people (especially the ladies), around the house.
Yellow, male Lab, 10 months, 120 pounds Duke (Let's call him Duke 2) is
not getting along with one of his housemates so we'd need to check him out with your dog
to see if this is just a personality conflict or he should be the only dog. Duke 2
is not a barker, digger, or jumper. A big puppy with a big heart.
Xander is an AKC registered, yellow (almost white) 10 month old Lab pup.
His owner was unable (or unwilling) to pay for a leg operation Xander needed
and was going to put this sweet dog down. CARMA came to the rescue. Xander had his
operation (paid for by CARMA--remember them when you're
giving donations), and was available for adoption when he left the vets.
Chocolate, male Lab, 1 year 3 months old, 100 pounds. Barry is a big lover who
wants to be around his people, so it would be best if his people would be around.

shots and crate trained. Ideal family would be one that could maximize human interaction
with this gentle giant.
Yellow, male Lab, 3 years old, 55 pounds, Simon was dumped by his owner and
picked up by some nice people who can't keep him. He is housebroken, neutered and up
to date with his shots. Simon is not a barker, nor a digger, but he can scale a
5 foot fence. He jumped the fence at his foster parent's home to see the dog next door,
then jumped back into his own yard. He has been to the dog park, runs without a leash
and comes when called. Simon doesn't want to run away, he wants to be where you are,
he wants to be where the action is.
Tessie--3 year old, chocolate female Lab. Dropped off by owner on 6/18. Pretty eyes.
She is going to
live in Silver City.
Black, female, Lab mix 40 pounds, 2 years old. Tessy has had a tough first couple of years. She is a shy lover wrapping up a case of worms, so she will easily add pounds when her treatment is over. She is a low-key, non barker, non digger and non jumper. She is good with other dogs and fine with cats. Tessy is housebroken, but not yet spayed. (A condition that will be changed before she goes home.) She can use some TLC, and she's going to get that and more at her new home.
Reggie is a chocolate Lab somewhere between 10-12 years of age. Either way, he's old, and at this stage of his life he shouldn't have to look for a home, but he is. Who said life is fair? Reggie is great with kids, and I would guess cats,
but not so good with other male dogs. He is about 120 pounds, neutered, housebroken and shares his sleeping quarters between his adult owners and their 7 year old daughter's bedroom. Reggie experiences seizures a couple times a year, but not enough to require medication. (Heck! when you get between 70 and 84 be glad if that's all you experience.) Reggie's owners have explored all avenues and are distraught, but due to a move, they have no other acceptable alternative but to get Reggie into a loving home for the last years of his life. We found a great couple who devoted their lives to old/handicapped dogs. A special spot in heaven?
Confucius--3 year old, 80 pound, neutered Lab/Golden mix. I know a little something about this guy. He is good with dogs, cats and kids. Confucius is housebroken and loves to be with his people, and that could be what landed him in the the clink. If left alone outside he will leap tall buildings in a single bound and go sit on the front pourch and wait for you.
Yellow, female Lab, 1 year old, 65 pounds. Chloe is spayed, up to date on her shots, housebroken, good with dogs, cats an unknown, and loves kids. Chole is a combo of beauty and brains, but could use a good dose of training. If you have the time to devote to getting this girl up to speed you won't be sorry.
Abused/negelected, 1 year old, spayed female, black Lab, 70 pounds. Sheba is another victim of people who move and leave all of their "disposables' behind. This sweet dog was left, and it was four days before anyone heard her calling for attention. Despite her being let down by her humans, she is very loving and trusting. Sheba needs to catch a break--and she did.
Black, male Lab mix (maybe with spaniel--looks all Lab, but points), 1 1/2 years old,
55 pounds. Rip is not a barker nor a
digger but has been known to give a four-foot fence a test. He is leash trained, good with other dogs, lives with cats and is good with kids. Rip is an outside dog, and he is not neutered, but he will be.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Jack is a 9 week old male who got a great home and went on a camping trip his first weekend.
Young Yeller is a 9 month old yellow stray picked up and cared for by a young man from Bosque Farms. This pup found a home with a couple from Nebraska here for a visit. Good timing for everyone.
Black, female Lab stray coming in a svelt 45 pounds was found by a kind lady in Las Vegas, NM and adopted by another kind lady from Cerrillos. Bella is good in the car, leash trained and loved to stay around her people.
Yellow, female Lab mix, 45 pounds, 4 years old. Goldie, is housebroken, loves to play ball, good with cats and loves people. She is a bit shy, but when she warms up, she's hot. Goldie is spayed and is not a barker nor a jumper.
Yellow w/red highlights, male Lab, 1 year old, 65 pounds. Bud is a TRAINER'S DELIGHT. He was the perfect dog until a couple of months ago. He now wants to be the boss of everything. Until Bud gets turned around he needs to be the only dog. Bud will hump a fire hydrant if he thinks it's male. While he was formally trained, and would do a good sit/stay, he will now do a stand/leave anytime he wants. He will be neutered soon which will help take the edge off but is not the total answer. Bud is not an excessive barker, does not dig, nor jump. A dog trainer has adopted Bud.
Sampson,
a 2 year old male Lab mix. He's big and sweet--great combo. Adopted from the Roswell Animal Shelter. A good dog got a good home.
Yellow (honey colored), male Lab, 2 years old, 70 pounds. Bogie had everything you would want in a young Lab. He is good with dogs, cats and children. He is not a digger, barker nor jumper, Bogie is housebroken, neutered and up to date with his shots. Everyone who has seen him comments on what a great looking dog he is. So, what's the problem, why is he looking for a new home? Bogie is shy and in need of much attention. He has separation anxiety. Bogie needed a home where his human will be around most of the time, or at a job where he can go with his new person on other than Take Your Dog to Work Day. Special dog, special need. .
Chocolate, male Lab, 50 pounds, 4 years old. Charlie was left behind when his owner moved. (I'm now sure we are neutering the wrong end of the leash.) Charlie was neutered, housebroken and loves to play ball. He is highly trainable, loves people, gets along with other dogs and is fine with cats.
Yellow, male Lab, 1 year old, 50 pounds. Spike was a stray/drop off that was taken in by a nice woman who couldn't keep him. Spike is housebroken, crate trained, not a barker, jumper nor digger. He loves to ride in cars, be with other dogs and children. Spike is not neutered, but really wants to be.
Black, male Lab, five years old, eighty pounds. Harley is neutered and housebroken.
He's good with kids, other dogs, and seems to be neutral about cats.
He's a high energy guy who loves to go for walks
and runs. He will jump up and down but not over and will give a good old Lab protective bark
when necessary. .
Chocolate, male Lab, 10 months old.
Hershell
is a big, medium-energy, sweet lover boy.
Black with chocolate highlights, female, 4 years old, 60 pounds. Cinder is
from a military family that had orders for overseas. She is housebroken, spayed,
up to date on her shots and to cap off this great dog, she is crate trained. Cinder
is friendly, but a bit shy. So she went to a home that did not have weekly RAVE parties. She is doing well.
We found a permanent home for Bruce. He is a 2 year old,
black, male, weighs in at about 85 pounds. He is good with cats and other dogs. Bruce's
owner died and Bruce was in the shelter in Taos.
Yellow, male Lab mix (90% Lab/10% other Retriever), 2 years old, 70 pounds. Reemus is a
beautiful, well trained dog. He is housebroken, neutered, doesn't bark excessively nor dig.
Reemus will jump to get where the action is, so a 6 foot fence or a stay-at-home-mom/dad
should be considered. He is up to date with his shots and he would be most comfortable
(as would you) in a home with no other male dogs. He's the right dog for the right family.
SPECIAL NEEDS DOG Yellow, male Lab, 4 years old. Max has allergies
and as a result, frequent ear infections. His current owners love him and have had him
since he was a puppy. They have just had a new baby, so money and time are scarce. Max
is a good-natured neutered, housebroken, big, yellow guy who needed a second chance at life.
Max was adopted by a great guy and is going to live in Texas--thanks
Mark and thanks to all the others that had expressed an interest in Max.
Yellow, male, Lab mix (90% Lab, 10% some other nice looking dog),
lovable big guy is 6 months, sweet and
trainable.

Rudi Black, female Lab, 5 years old, 50 pounds. Rudi is spayed, housebroken and up
to date with her shots. She is not a digger, a jumper nor a barker. Rudi is a loyal Lab who
loves to sit with her head on your lap while you watch TV. She is good with kids, so-so
with puppies and bad with cats. Her energy is high but she will be ready to quit when you are
Chocolate, male Lab, 5 1/2 months old. Brownie is on well on the way to becoming
a 90 pound beauty. He is a pup with all that entails (a high energy, chew everything kind of guy)
He has not shown to be a barker, digger or jumper. He has his puppy shots and is ready for
his rabies. His new owners will get him neutered.
Yellow, female Lab, 2 1/2 years old, 50 pounds. Maddi needs a special family. She is shy and
afraid of most men. She is currently a constant companion of an older man and does not leave
his side, but other men make her cower. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date with her shots.
Maddi loves to "run the fence" with the neighbor dogs and is good with cats. She is housebroken,
but would rather not be left alone too long. Could your heart and your life style accomodates
this girl?
Yellow, male Lab mix, three years old, seventy pounds. This
lovable big guy is neutered, up to date on his shots, gets along with childern (and adults acting
like children), cats and other other dogs. Mojo is not a barker nor a digger,
but because of his Lab desire to be where the action is, he will jump. So Mojo's
new owner(s) should have a wood fence at least six feet high or a life style that
lets him be in with them.
Spanky is a black, male Lab, two years old. He was rescued from the Albuquerque
shelter by a kind-hearted Santa Fean. Spanky is neutered and heatworm free. He is current
on his shots, affectionate, mellow and playful with people. Spanky
is fine with other dogs and house-trained.
Rex is a yellow male
Lab, three years old, and seventy-five
pounds (That lampshade is not leftover from New Year's eve. Rex has
a "sore" on the skin
of his leg that is healing the vet says.) Rex is housebroken, doesn't
bark, dig or jump. He has lived with children 3 and 13 years of age and
another family dog, but has had no exposure to cats.
Yellow, male Lab, one year old. Cosmo is a housebroken, unneutered
(new owner will fix) high-energy pup. He is good with kids, up to date
on his shots and needs to find a new home because he, true to Lab nature,
is showing a high interest in his neighbor's game birds.
Black, male Lab mix, four year old. Bear was found wondering the
streets on Christmas Eve and was picked up by two very caring people who
have kept him off those streets since then.
They
know he's a keeper, but with their own two big dogs, seventy pound Bear
had to find another home. He is a medium energy dog, befitting his age.
He is housebroken, loves to walk, and good with other dogs.
