The Blueprint of Time
The pages below contain the first four chapters of my book The Blueprint of Time. It will start you on a journey into the mystery of time. In these chapters we will see the way time and its contents--history--have been shaped by the eternal Word of God.
Eternity is unchanging, while the created order is ever-changing. The time patterns contained in God's Word--the Bible--are like a titanium mold impressing fluidic time. And God's plan of salvation and the fulfillment of His prophetic Word, follow the contours of time with a consistency that rules out chance.
Let's start our exploration of time. It is a project fraught with blessing as Chapter One will explain.

CHAPTER ONE: ETERNITY AND TIME
ETERNITY SHAPING TIME
There is a blueprint of time encrypted in Scripture, and the fulfillment of prophecy unfolds on its schedule. It is like an architectural plan governing the construction of time’s shape, and the contents of history are poured into this mold.
Albert Einstein theorized that the space-time continuum was curved by distributions of mass and energy. The denser the mass of an object, the greater the curvature of space-time around it. In the sphere of time, the eternal has infinite density, because it contains all of time’s past, present and future; and there are at least two expressions of eternity within the sphere of time: the eternal words of God that are recorded in the Bible, and Jesus, the eternal Word of God made flesh.
The infinite density of the eternal Word of God, both written and incarnated, shapes time. In the first three chapters we will focus on the Bible’s descriptions of time and, given the eternal nature of God’s words, it should not be surprising that what God said about time, shaped time. His eternal words carved furrows in time’s field, and the fulfillment of prophecy and God’s plan of salvation follow these channels like water down a river bed.
PATTERNS PROJECTING INTO THE FUTURE
The patterns of history project into the future and suggest what is coming next and when it will arrive. They are like meteorological patterns that forecast the next week’s weather.
Some of the forecasts generated by the blueprint of time have already come true. The following unlikely forecasts appeared in The Template of Time: Our Destiny Decoded, a book I wrote and published in 2010. It introduced this time model and predicted:
- Hosni Mubarak, the President of Egypt, would soon be ousted from power.
- In 2011, Mubarak was deposed during the Arab Spring.
- A Jesuit would become the pope of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Pope Francis, a Jesuit, became pope in 2013 after the rarest of events, a papal resignation. The Jesuits have been a recognized monastic order since 1540 and, until 2013, a Jesuit had never been pope.
- The European Union (EU) would become a military superpower.
- When The Template of Time was published in 2010, the EU had no army, nor was it publicly planning on building one. I did not know at the time that the Treaty of Lisbon, that came into force on December 1, 2009, gave them the ability to build such an army. Then, in 2017, tens of billions of dollars were budgeted to begin assembling this army.
I must emphasize, however, that forecasts of future events, based on patterns, offer us probabilities and not certainty. They suggest outcomes, but do not guarantee them. After all, weather forecasts often fail. Certainty of a future outcome requires omniscience, and only God is omniscient.
To refine this model and test its limits, I made many other forecasts, and most of them failed. These failures revealed how the fulfillment of God’s sacred history—His plan of salvation and prophecies—follows this time structure, while other areas of historical import do not. For example, the history of the nation of China is important, but it does not seem to follow the blueprint of time. However, the evangelization of China—part of God’s salvation plan—follows this time structure quite well, as we will see.
One of the most important themes in prophecy, occupying much of the attention of the books of Daniel, Revelation, and this book as well, is the fourth beast’s (Dan 7:23), or the beast’s (Rev 13:5), war against the saints. Many Christians, if not most, believe this is a conflict reserved for the Last Days, when it is actually a war that started during the time of Jesus and has continued ever since, resulting in millions of deaths. We will follow this war as it unfolds on the blueprint of time. In the next chapter, “The Apocalyptic War,” we will identify who this beast was and is.
IS THIS PURSUIT SOMEHOW UNCHRISTIAN?
I’ve found that some people feel uneasy about delving into the riddle of time, and then projecting its patterns into the future to see what it suggests might occur. They are quite comfortable with weather forecasts and economic forecasts, but the historical forecasts I am generating are somehow—to some—a form of occult divination.
I disagree. I study the Bible and history, not astrology and the Tarot. Not only that, but based on Scripture, I believe this attempt to understand the timing of God’s salvation plan is endorsed by an apostle, prophets and angels. For the Apostle Peter wrote:
"Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look" (1 Pt 1:10-12, emphasis added).
God revealed to the prophets the grace that was to come through the divine Person of Jesus, and what did this revelation inspire them to do? They began to carefully inquire about the timing of this key moment in the salvation history of God. And even angels long to look into these things.
It may sound radical to propose that God’s sacred history follows a time pattern, but the Bible proposed this long before I did. There is an obvious example of this in Matthew’s Gospel where a fourteen-generation time-cycle separates Abraham and David, David and the Babylonian Captivity, and the Babylonian Captivity and Christ (Mt 1:17). However, unlike the Gospel of Matthew’s clear-cut illustration of the structured nature of time, most of the Bible’s blueprint of time is hidden.
TIME’S DECRYPTION KEY
At the beginning of this book, I stated the “blueprint of time” is “encrypted in Scripture.” To crack this biblical time code, we need a decryption key, and it is a simple concept with an exotic sounding name: fractals.
Fractals are things that are similar at all measures of scale, and an illustration of them are Russian nesting dolls. When we open up the largest nesting doll there is a slightly smaller doll inside. When we open the smaller doll, we find another slightly-smaller doll inside, and so on. After opening all of the dolls, reassembling them and standing them next to each other, from the smallest to the tallest, we can see how each one is similar in appearance at all measures of scale.
In the Bible we find time fractals like 40 days, 40 years, and 400 years. These time fractals are similar in appearance, yet different in scale, and they are found throughout the Bible. The following is a partial list:
- 40 DAYS: it rained for 40 days during the flood. On two separate occasions Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai before receiving the Ten Commandments. Nineveh was to be overthrown after 40 days, but they repented at Jonah’s preaching. Jesus’ ministry began with 40 days of temptation in the wilderness, and it ended with Him spending 40 days with His disciples before ascending into heaven.
- 40 YEARS: Moses spent 40 years in the house of Pharaoh, 40 years in Midian, and 40 years wandering in the wilderness. In the Book of Judges, the land had rest for 40 years on three different occasions. Saul, David and Solomon were kings for 40 years.
- 400 YEARS: the Israelites were enslaved for 400 years.[1] (Note: These bracketed numbers--e.g., [1]--are footnotes. The web page did not allow proper footnote formatting. These notes can be found at the end of each chapter.)
The fractal time-cycles noted above mark transformational turning points in the history of individuals, the nation of Israel, and the world. For example, after 40 days in the wilderness, Jesus began His ministry as the Messiah. It marked a transformational turning point in His life, and in the life of the world. And the conclusion of the other 40-day, 40-year and 400-year time cycles mark transformational turning points as well. These turning points are an important part of time’s structure.
ASSEMBLING PART OF TIME’S PUZZLE
The Bible’s fractal conception of time extends to time structures like a week. The timing of the Jubilee celebration involved “seven weeks of years” (Lev 25:8). This 7-year week is similar to a 7-day week, but it is different in scale.
Let’s now scale up the 7-day- and 7-year-week into a 7000-year-week made up of seven 1000-year “days.” The Bible suggests this time pattern when it tells us “…one day is as a thousand years” (2 Pt 3:8). And we know that part of God’s salvation plan conforms to a millennial time cycle, because His plan will be completed by the millennial reign of Christ (see Rev 20).
The 4004 BC start date, that appears below in “DAY ONE,” comes from the scholarly work of Archbishop James Ussher. Based on his research into biblical chronologies, and other ancient sources, he believed 4004 BC was the first year of creation. Since this start date is largely derived from the Word of God, it becomes our start date as well.
DAY ONE, 4004 – 3005 BC: ADAM, EVE AND ENOCH
God’s plan for our salvation begins with the creation of Adam and Eve, c. 4004 BC. They are the starting point of the historical movement called “the human race.” Then, almost 1000 years later (987 years to be exact), this first day ends with Enoch being raptured into heaven.
Enoch is a type, a prefiguration of the culmination of God’s plan of salvation. At the end of time, all believers in Jesus will be “snatched up” into the presence of Christ, to be with Him forever (see 2 Thes 4:16-17). This thirteen-year gap between 987 and 1000 years may have additional significance. We will explore this possibility toward the end of this work.
DAY TWO, 3004 – 2005 BC: ABRAHAM
According to Archbishop Ussher’s famous timeline, and a historian’s book on the history of Israel, the birth of Abraham occurred c. 1996 BC:
"It is interesting that the Archbishop Ussher set the birth of Abraham in 1996, and the descent of Joseph into Egypt in 1728—which quite surprisingly chimes in with the position taken here." [2]
God established a covenant relationship with Abraham and his birth marks the beginning of the 2000-year Age of the Old Covenant (it spans the 2004 BC to 5 BC time period). Jesus was born at the end of this age, c. 5 BC, to fulfill the Old Covenant Age and start a 2000-year New Covenant Age. [3]
During this Age of the New Covenant, Abraham’s children are born through a saving faith in Jesus. As the Apostle Paul wrote: “Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham” (Ga 3:7).
Finally, the year 1996 BC is not 2005 BC, but the timing is more precise than it was with Enoch (a nine-year separation versus thirteen years), and it will be much more precise from here on out.
DAY THREE, 2004 – 1005 BC: KING DAVID
The third day culminates in the reign of King David over a united Israel. According to several historians, this began around 1003 BC, about 3000 years after the 4004 BC starting point. And as with Abraham, God made a covenant with David, but this regarded his lineage, kingdom and throne:
"And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever" (2 Sam 8:16).
David is also a type, a prefiguration of the Messianic king, Jesus, who will return one day and rule over the earth from His eternal throne.
An acronym formed by the three letters in the Hebrew name of Adam, or ADM (there are no vowels in Old Testament Hebrew, just consonants) suggested the following progression of God’s sacred history to Jewish religious scholars. They believed these letters stood for the following: A = Adam, D = David, and M = Messiah.
So, Adam is the starting point of this historical movement. About 3000 years later David, the transformational turning point, appears and he foreshadows the Messianic king. Then, a little over 3000 years after David’s reign ended, c. 970 BC (3000 years would take us to c. 2030 AD), the Messiah returns to sit on David’s throne and rule over the earth.
This year, 2030, is very close to the beginning of day seven (that is, 2034). Do we now know the year of Jesus’ Second Coming?
We will look at the controversial subject of timing the return of Christ in Chapter Three. But for now, I will paraphrase what Jesus said, “No one can know the precise time (day or hour) when the Son of Man will return.” And the blueprint of time is in wholehearted agreement with this crystal-clear declaration from the Son of God.
As with the numbers 4, 40, 400, and 4000, there are several biblical time fractals based on the number 3:
- There is a fractal expression of God’s wrath based on the number 3. David was given the choice of 3 years of famine, 3 months of flight before a pursuing enemy, or 3 days of pestilence (see 2 Sam 24:13).
- Joseph entered Pharaoh’s service when he was 30 years old (Gen 41:46). Joseph is a type of the suffering servant, the role Jesus assumed during His First Coming.
- David was anointed king at the age of 30 (2 Sam 5:4). Again, King David is a type of the Messianic King who rules over the earth, a prefiguration of Jesus at His Second Coming.
- Jesus was “about thirty years of age” (Lk 3:23) when he was anointed to start His messianic ministry. Thus, Joseph, David and Jesus were anointed with power on or around their thirtieth year. It was a transformational turning point in their lives, sending their lives in a new direction.
- Enoch walked with God 300 years and then God took him, or “raptured” him into the heavens. Talk about a transformational turning point!
- And we’ve just covered the 3rd day, or 3000-year time cycle, associated with David and the return of the Messiah.
The two turning-point numbers, 3 & 4, are also intertwined in Scripture. The following words are repeated in several passages: “visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation” (Nu 14:18, see also Ex 20:5, 34:7, Dt 5:9; emphasis added). This verse suggests that at the conclusion of either the third or fourth generation, a turning point will be reached in the judgment of God.
DAY FOUR, 1004 – 5 BC: THE FIRST COMING OF JESUS
When we extend 4000 years from 4004 BC, we come to 5 BC. Many scholars believe Jesus was born sometime during the 4-6 BC time period. It was and is the ultimate turning point in time.
We’ve already seen turning-point moments at the 40-day, 40-year and 400-year marks. These time cycles are fractals of the number 4. Now, when we come to “day” 4, or the 4000-year mark, we witness the arrival of the Messiah, the God-man, the most transformational change-agent in human history. We will spend more time on the significance of Jesus’ First and Second Coming in Chapter Three, for there is much to cover.
DAY FIVE, 4 BC – 1033 AD: CONVERTING EUROPE
I’ll begin “DAY FIVE” by explaining its 1033 end-date. This is based on extending a 1000-year time cycle, or a millennium, from 33 AD, the year Jesus was crucified, resurrected and ascended into the heavens to sit at the right hand of God the Father. As Chapter Four will show, the life of Jesus, the eternal Word incarnated, also shaped time. This is why I am extending 1000 years from 33 AD, the most monumental year in the salvation history of God.
Let’s now return to the sacred history of God and how it conforms to this millennial template. The evangelization of the world is part of God’s salvation plan and around the end of day five a host of European nations adopted the Christian faith:
"At the turn of the millennium, Europe Christianized, almost all at once. The various regions of the continent—Scandinavia, Russia and the Balkans—all came to the new religion for different reasons, but some powerful urge bound them together. No more dramatic change can be imagined, not because it was Christian per se, but because Christianity in 999 AD represented civilization and learning and nationhood against the darkness of heathenism, illiteracy and tribal chaos." [4]
“Some powerful urge” was at work, and it led the following nations—Denmark, Norway, much of Sweden, Russia, Hungary and Poland—to take up the faith at about the same time. As we will see, the year 999 AD, in the above quote, is approximate and not exact. I will provide more accurate dates regarding the evangelization of Europe and show how it conforms to the blueprint of time with astonishing precision.
But the question remains, “What could possibly synchronize the profound transformation of all of these nations so that it occurred, simultaneously, around the end of the first millennium?” Denmark, Hungary and Poland (to name just three of these nations) differed from each other in areas of culture, ethnicity, language, and faith traditions, yet they adopted the Christian faith at the same time. The cause for this effect was God’s sovereign will that predestined this perfectly-timed fulfillment of a part of His salvation plan.
DAY SIX, 1034 – 2033 AD: GLOBAL EVANGELIZATION
Prior to the final date on the blueprint of time’s sixth “day,” c. 2033, we will see, and are now seeing, the evangelization of a new group of nations bringing in hundreds of millions of converts as the Kingdom of God expands at a dizzying rate in Africa, Asia and, God willing, the Middle East.
Sociologists and anthropologists—pick the discipline—cannot explain why this explosion of evangelism is now occurring. In fact, they predicted Africa would see the church shrink after Europe’s colonial control of many African nations ended. The exact opposite is occurring. The church is growing in Africa at one of the fastest rates of anywhere on earth.
This millennial fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation suggests that what God said about time, shaped time. When God said, “one day is as a thousand years” He spoke into existence millennial contours of time that His plan of salvation is following.
DAY SEVEN, 2034 – 3033 AD: TO BE CONTINUED
Day seven is very important, and will be treated extensively in Chapter Three, “A New Model of History and Time.”
THE BENEFITS THIS BOOK OFFERS
Time is precious and books require an investment of time. So, you may wonder, “What will this book give me, besides a deeper knowledge of God’s sacred history, how it has unfolded on earth, where we are in the unfolding of God’s plan of salvation, where we are headed and when will we likely get there?”
I believe that alone is worth your investment of time, but I will add at least one more benefit. Perhaps the greatest blessing this book will likely confer is either establishing, or strengthening, your faith in God’s sovereignty, and it will do this through the following process.
As we watch history follow a time pattern, repeatedly and undeniably, then our faith in God’s sovereignty will be strengthened; because only a sovereign God could produce such a result. God alone has the omniscience and omnipotence to govern the near-infinite variables of history, and make them produce historical outcomes that conform to a time pattern.
But you may ask, “Why is a profound faith in God’s sovereignty so important?”
Because it reinforces the virtue enabling all others: courage.
To overcome fear Jesus taught us to believe and trust in a sovereign, loving God. He said, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. …Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (Mt 10:29, 31, emphasis added).
Not a single sparrow dies, or falls to the ground, apart from God’s will. The life of all creatures, including the little sparrow, is in God’s hands. Once we believe in God’s sovereignty over all of creation, and our precious value to Him, the message of Jesus—“fear not”—makes perfect sense. For if God is in control of every aspect of history, including the lives of all creatures, and He loves us, then why should we fear anything or anyone? If a sovereign God is for us, then who can be against us? As with Jesus on the cross, or Joseph being sold into slavery, even our apparent defeats in this life will be turned into victories, therefore, “fear not.”
We need to strengthen our belief in the sovereignty of God, or else the chaos we see exploding around us, which will only get worse as the end of time draws closer, will weaken our faith. We will begin to think, “How can God be in control when everything is being turned upside down?”
It is likely you recently experienced this shaking of your faith during the chaos caused by COVID-19. I did. It led many Christians to lose sight of God’s sovereignty, and this generated debilitating fears about what would come next. As the world descended into disorder, many people—Christian and non-Christian—retreated inside of themselves and succumbed to feelings of despair.
This illustrates how our faith in a sovereign, loving God is essential, and must be strengthened, if we are to stand during this increasingly evil time. The next time chaos explodes all around us, and people grow fearful and despondent, we can look at this roiling of the world and calmly say, “God is in control. I know my eyes see nothing but disorder, but I refuse to live by sight. I now live by faith and know God has perfectly ordered time to fulfill His plan of salvation. Even this disorder will be used to fulfill His will.” Such a faith would be wishful thinking were it not for the way the Bible proclaims the sovereignty of God, and His love for us, at many junctures. That is all the proof we need. However, His sovereignty is also supported by the way 2000 years of history follow a time pattern encrypted in Scripture. Only a sovereign God could make this happen.
THE THREE LIGHTS
The sovereignty of God, however, presents us with a difficult question: how do we balance the sovereign will of God with free will?
When it came to answering this question, Martin Luther pled ignorance, because he was not yet living in the illumination of God’s third and final light. Luther believed that God provided us with two lights to help us understand the world and our place in it. These were the lights of nature and of grace. If we lived only by the light of nature, he concluded, we could not answer the question regarding the wicked, and the way they often prospered in this life while the righteous were afflicted. It was a question posed by psalmists (Ps 73) and others in the Bible (Jer 12:1). This injustice was puzzling. But the second light, the light of grace contained in God’s Word, answered this question. It revealed a final court of judgment, and a heaven and hell that would balance the scales of justice.
However, the light of grace did not answer the question regarding why a sovereign God chose some for salvation and not others. This was a question that even the Apostle Paul could not answer, or refused to answer. After noting how God chose Jacob and rejected Esau before they were born, and how God hardened Pharaoh’s heart, Paul wrote, “You will say to me then, ‘Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?’ But who are you, O man, to answer back to God?” (Ro 9:19-20).
That does not answer the question. Paul’s response is, “Who are you to question God?” And this answer must be sufficient for us as well as we continue our pilgrimage on earth.
Luther believed the answer to the question regarding God’s sovereign will versus free will must await the arrival of the third light, the light of glory. Once we are clothed in glory, in our resurrection bodies, then mysteries like these will be answered. “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known” (1 Cor 13:12).
Until then, let us take comfort in the fact that God is sovereign. A belief in a sovereign and loving God will give us the courage to face the daunting challenges of the End Times. As Paul concluded, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Ro 8:31).
A DEEPER APPRECIATION OF THE WORD OF GOD
I came to this study with a reverence for God’s Word. Without such an exalted opinion of Scripture it is hard to imagine how a study such as this could even be started. I believed, and still do, in the Reformer’s “solas,” and one of them is “sola scriptura,” or “scripture alone.” By this they meant that the Bible was the sole rule of faith, because it is inerrant on matters of truth.
Yet, even though I possessed the highest regard for the Word of God, this study has deepened my appreciation of the power contained within these eternal words. And since this Word is the all-powerful sword we wield in the cosmic conflict we are engaged in (see Eph 6:17), it also fortified my sense of hope.
Our God did not leave us bereft of weapons in our fight against the servants of the evil one, who are finally beginning to come out of the shadows and reveal their true colors. The last chapter, “The Christian Manifesto,” will cover the role the saints can play in this struggle with the enemy that began in the Garden of Eden.
That said, our Bibles are not are not objects of idolatry. We do not worship them, but we rightly treasure them, and prayerfully attend to the eternal words recorded in its pages. These words, however, would be dead to us were it not for the illumination that comes from the Holy Spirit. He indwells us upon our salvation, and anoints our minds, enabling us to see what the unsaved cannot see. As Paul wrote, “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Cor 2:14).
The natural person lives solely by the light of nature, while the child of God slowly reorients his life according to the light of grace.
More than just about anything, we need another dramatic outpouring of God’s Spirit on the United States and the world. We need our spirits revived, our eyes opened to evil’s encroachment, our faith fortified and our prayers anointed. And praise God, the blueprint of time suggests the Greatest Awakening is exactly what we are about to receive.
POWERFUL, EVIL FORCES
Men and women are working tirelessly to establish the evil kingdom I will introduce in the next chapter. This kingdom is at war with God’s Kingdom, and we will soon see how this war has unfolded on the blueprint of time over many centuries. Millions of saints have died in this war, and Scripture tells us it will continue until the end of time. Time’s blueprint also suggests this: the apocalyptic war’s final battle is fast approaching, because we are standing on the sonic threshold of the Last Trumpet.
NOTES:
1. Biblical references to 40 days, 40 years and 400 years are: Gen 7:12, 15:13, 25:20, 26:34, 50:3; Ex 16:35, 24:18, 34:28; Num 13:25, 14:33-34 (the reference to 40 years of wandering in the wilderness is repeated many times throughout Scripture); Josh 14:7; Jdg 3:11, 5:31, 8:28, 13:1; 1 Sam 4:18, 17:16; 2 Sam 2:10, 5:4; 1 Ki 2:11, 11:42, 19:8; 2 Ki 21:1; 2 Chr 24:1; Ezek 4:6, 29:11; Jon 3:4; Mk 1:13; Ac 1:3, 7:6, 7:23, 7:30, 7:36, 13:21. Where there is a fractal relationship between numbers, I will use the actual numbers instead of words. For example, 4 and 40, instead of four and forty. This helps make the fractal relationship clearer.

CHAPTER TWO: THE APOCALYPTIC WAR
TWO KINGDOMS
There are two kingdoms in prophecy; one is good and the other is evil, and they have been at war for almost 2000 years. The evil kingdom is characterized by a murderous hatred that will not let it rest until it destroys the good kingdom. Though millions of people have died in this war, few people seem to be aware of this conflict that appears prominently in prophecy and history.
THE EVIL KINGDOM
In Revelation, John named the evil kingdom “the beast,” and Daniel called it “the fourth kingdom,” (Da 2:40, 7:23) and “the fourth beast” (Da 7:19, 7:23). In both Revelation and Daniel this kingdom is comprised of ten kingdoms, represented by ten kings, and it is destroyed by the Messiah, the Son of Man. Since there is only one Messiah, who is returning one time, to destroy one beast and establish the Kingdom of God, Daniel’s “fourth beast,” and Revelation’s “beast,” have to be one and the same.
Neither Daniel, nor John, identified this kingdom by name, but the way this series of four kingdoms unfolds in Daniel suggests which kingdom it is:
- The first kingdom, Babylon, was conquered by the second kingdom, Medo-Persia.
- The second kingdom, Medo-Persia, was conquered by the third kingdom, Greece.
- Therefore, the third kingdom, Greece, should be conquered by the fourth kingdom. Who conquered Greece?
- Rome conquered Greece in 146 BC, about two seventy-year time cycles before the birth of Jesus. Rome is the fourth kingdom.
"Then also Lateinos (LATEINOS) has the number six hundred and sixty-six; and it is a very probable [solution], this being the name of the last kingdom [of the four seen by Daniel]. For the Latins are they who at present bear rule… ."
The Romans, or Latins, were ruling during Irenaeus’s time. Before moving on, it is worth noting that there were only three degrees of separation between Irenaeus and Jesus. For Irenaeus heard the preaching of Polycarp, and Polycarp heard the preaching of the Apostle John, who was the beloved of Jesus. If John, the author of Revelation, thought the beast was some other kingdom or empire, then Irenaeus would likely have known this.
A strong clue regarding the beast’s identity involves one of Rome’s methods of persecuting Christians. Revelation notes how “those who would not worship the image of the beast” (Rev 13:15) were slain. During Emperor Domitian’s persecution of Christians from 93 to 96 AD, Christians who refused to sacrifice to his image were executed. Since Revelation was likely written c. 95-96 AD, this form of persecution was probably occurring during the time of its writing.
Another set of clues involves the capital city of the beast in Revelation, namely, Babylon the great. “Babylon” is a code word for “Rome.” The historical city of Babylon was a scarcely-populated backwater when Revelation was being written. It wasn’t even close to being “the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth” (Rev 17:18), and in the last 1900 years that hasn’t changed. It is now a heap of largely unexcavated ruins. But Rome, during the time when Revelation was written, fit that description perfectly.
Nor does the ancient city of Babylon fit the description of being a “woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus” (Rev 17:6). Did the people of ancient Babylon, whoever was left, kill even one Christian? Possibly. On the other hand, the Roman Empire killed Jesus, Peter and Paul, and millions of saints in its pagan and “Christian” incarnations.
WHERE IS THE ROMAN EMPIRE?
According to Daniel, the fourth kingdom will still be in existence when the Messiah returns to rule over the earth (see Dan 7:7-14). Since the fourth kingdom is the last kingdom in Daniel’s prophecy, prior to the Messiah’s reign, the Roman Empire must still be with us.
It is and, as prophesied, its shape has changed. When Revelation was written, the Roman Empire was a single state, and not a collection of kingdoms. Yet, both Daniel and Revelation depict this beast as having ten horns, which symbolize ten kings (see Dan 7:23-24, Rev 17:11-13). Since kings have kingdoms, the beast will be a union of many kingdoms. But don’t take the number “ten” too literally. Ten, like the numbers seven and twelve, symbolizes completion or perfection.
Yes, the original Roman Empire vanished, but it was reconstituted under Charlemagne, who is often called “the Father of Europe.” He believed he was the “new Constantine,” which is a reference to the Roman Empire’s first “Christian” emperor. And Charlemagne also believed he was governing a revived Roman Empire. He was even crowned and hailed a Roman emperor by the pope. We will cover him in greater detail later on.
About three decades after Charlemagne’s death, the Treaty of Verdun subdivided his vast empire into separate kingdoms approximating the nations of Germany, France and Italy. Some refer to this treaty as “the birth certificate of Europe.” From the standpoint of prophecy, the reconstituted fourth kingdom’s transformation into many kingdoms was now beginning to take place.
However, these kingdoms were not united and often at war. It took over a thousand years, and two World Wars, before the European Union (EU) came into existence. The EU is the first stage in the realization of this union of kingdoms, or nation-states, and its formation and evolution will undeniably conform to the blueprint of time.
YES… BUT THE EU IS NOT THE ROMAN EMPIRE
Not everything in the Bible is meant literally. In the last prophecy in the Old Testament we read, “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes” (Mal 4:5). This prophecy was never literally fulfilled, but it was definitely fulfilled.
Prior to Jesus’ birth, an angel told Zechariah, John the Baptist’s father, the following about his son:
"And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared" (Lk 1:16-17, emphasis added).
John the Baptist was not Elijah in a literal sense. That would require reincarnation, a doctrine the Bible does not support. Nor was he spiritually possessed or controlled by Elijah’s spirit. If such were the case, we would not read the following about John, “for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb” (Lk 1:15, emphasis added). John was filled with the Holy Spirit, not Elijah’s spirit. John was his own man. But he did operate “in the spirit and power of Elijah,” through the power of the Holy Spirit.
In like manner, the Holy Roman Empire (800-1806 AD) was not literally the Roman Empire of Emperor Augustus, but it operated “in the spirit and power of” the Roman Empire. And the EU does also.
Finally, though the governments of the nations of the fourth kingdom have at various times been evil—e.g., Hitler’s Germany—and will be supremely evil in the future, this does not mean Europe’s people are. Through my work in both executive sales and consulting, I’ve met many fine people in Europe who were kind and honorable. And we mustn’t forget that even though the number of Christians in Europe is declining, there are still many Christians in Europe. Our Christian brothers and sisters in Europe will have their faith tested in the coming years, as will we. No matter what government takes over continental Europe, its people deserve our love and prayers.
THE GOOD KINGDOM
The good kingdom that the beast is at war with is the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is not a nation-state. It is made up of a people that both Daniel and Revelation call “the saints.” The saints are never identified as Jews in Daniel, but in Revelation the saints are identified as Christians: “Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus” (Rev 14:12). These saints are the church, the body of Christ, and the Kingdom of God in embryo.
But who exactly are these Christian saints? Are they people who call themselves Christians? Are they active churchgoers? Are they Catholics, Protestants, charismatics, or all of the above?
The saints are members of what John Calvin, and others, called the invisible church. It is independent of denominations. It is a church made up of the souls of those who are saved by grace through their faith in Jesus. If you were born again through your saving faith, then you are automatically a member of the invisible church.
This invisible church stands in stark contrast to the visible church that is made up of many denominations, housed in countless buildings, run by millions of church staff, and serving hundreds of millions of congregants. Some of the visible church’s priests, pastors and congregants (hopefully most) are genuine believers. But as we will discover, some of the highest-ranking officials in the visible church not only oppose Jesus, they worship Satan.
THE PUZZLE OF TIME
This book will cover some disconcerting topics, and how could it not? After all, we are exploring the end of time. But there are also heartening topics, and even fun ones. For example, we can make a game out of solving the puzzle of time. Think of it as a kind of cosmic crossword puzzle. And there are a few more pieces in time’s puzzle that must be put in place before we can see time’s blueprint as completely as my current understanding of it allows.
The next piece of the puzzle involves a seven-cycle pattern that appears throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and in the next chapter we will look at a few examples of it. In Appendix 2 you can find additional examples.
Within this seven-cycle pattern is hidden both a model of history and a model of time. These two models, along with fractal time patterns, will then converge to form the blueprint of time.
CHAPTER THREE:
A NEW MODEL OF HISTORY AND TIME
THE DIALECTICAL MODEL OF HISTORY
There is a historical model that guides the actions of evil men. We will see the extent of its malevolent influence when we explore the fourth season (1565 – 2049).[1] Friedrich Hegel is often credited with developing the historical model of “thesis-antithesis-synthesis,” but it actually comes from his philosophical mentor, Johann Fichte, and it works like this:
There is a thesis, an initial proposition, or a historical movement.
It is met by an antithesis, a conflicting proposition, or a contrary movement in history. The thesis states, “This is right,” and the antithesis replies, “No. That is wrong. This is right.” Conflict is built into this model. It is a requirement. And followers of this model believe conflict is necessary to advance history. Therefore, if conflict does not exist, then it must be created if “history’s” goals (meaning, “their goals”) are to be achieved.
The collision between the thesis and antithesis creates a “dialectic,” a Greek word meaning “conversation,” or “dialogue.” These conflicting propositions argue with each other—i.e., the historical movements struggle—and it generates a synthesis, or a historical outcome. Elements from both the thesis and the antithesis will be found in the synthesis.
The adoption of this dialectical-historical model by communism’s philosopher, Karl Marx, is just one of the ways it has cast a dark cloud over history. In Marx’s dialectic there is the conflict between the thesis (the bourgeoisie, the capitalist class that owns the means of production), and the antithesis (the proletariat, or the working class). The bourgeoisie oppresses the proletariat and the proletariat fights back.
Marx and Friedrich Engels made the following pronouncement in The Communist Manifesto, “The history of all hitherto existing societies is the history of class struggles.” In this sentence we have a synopsis of Marx’s dialectical model of history that requires conflict.
A NEW MODEL OF HISTORY
The heart of the blueprint of time is a new historical model that is suggested by time patterns found in Scripture. If you understand this model, then you will understand the blueprint of time. Therefore, we will spend some time on it. This three-phase model of history unfolds as follows:
Starting Point: a historical movement begins in the starting-point phase, also called the first phase.
Turning Point: the starting-point movement is transformed, or replaced, in the turning-point phase, also called the second phase.
End Point: the turning-point movement is typically small and insignificant in comparison to its end point. It is like a seed that grows and bears fruit in the end-point phase, or third phase.
It’s pretty easy to understand the first and third phase. Something begins (starting point), and it ends (end point). A person is born (starting point), and a person dies (end point). But the turning-point phase, I’ve discovered, is something people struggle with.
To make it relatable, think about a turning point that happened in your life. It could be, you met someone and their influence changed the course of your life. You were headed in one direction prior to meeting this person. Then, after meeting him or her, your life was sent in a new direction, toward a different destination. In the end-point phase you reached this destination by achieving your destiny, or your new goal.
A HISTORICAL ILLUSTRATION
The following is an actual, historical movement going through these three phases. It will reappear after we finish drawing the blueprint of time, and we will watch it follow the blueprint’s time schedule:
Starting Point: Rome’s prophesied war on the saints will begin in the starting-point phase (65 – 133). This war between the fourth kingdom, and the saints who “hold to the testimony of Jesus” (Rev 12:17), begins with Nero’s persecution.
Turning Point: Emperor Constantine will end this persecution of all Christians and transform it into the persecution of Christian “heretics” in the turning-point phase (275 – 333). It is a new movement that sends the persecution of Christians in a new direction. The fourth kingdom’s war against the saints is redirected toward achieving a new goal. Initially, this persecution of heretics is a small, seed-like movement. It would require time to grow and achieve its culmination.
End Point: Emperor Justinian will appear in the first season’s end-point phase (485 – 537). During his reign the persecution of heretics would become an Inquisition so intense it would split the church in two. The persecution of heretics by “Christian” kings and emperors will eventually make pagan Rome’s persecutions seem like a trifling affair.
A NEW MODEL OF TIME
We will now superimpose this historical model onto a seven-cycle time model known as the Creation Week. The Bible’s magisterial first words are, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen 1:1). Then, before the Creation Week’s first day, the earth was “without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep” (Gen 1:2).
So, the earth already existed before the Creation Week. Instead of creating the earth, these seven days filled a dark, chaotic and sterile world with light, gave it order and made it fruitful. The Creation Week is a type illustrating God’s plan of salvation.
Day 1: the 1st day of creation is the starting point and it brings light to this dark world. [2] On day 1 God said, “Let there be light” (Gen 1:3). On days two and three the earth was prepared for habitation. The 1st cycle—in this case, “Day 1”—is always the first-phase starting point.
Day 4: on the 4th day the creation movement entered its transformational turning-point phase. The number 4 is a fractal of 40, 400 and 4000, and in Chapter One these numbers were related to transformational turning points in the lives of individuals, the nation of Israel and the world.
On day 4 a new impulse of light entered creation. God said, “Let there be lights” (Gen 1:14), and it sent creation in a different direction. During days five and six the earth was inhabited with creatures, including man and woman. “Let there be lights” is a second expression of light that sends creation down a different path, toward a different goal. This 4th cycle is the second phase, or in this instance, the second operation of light.
Day 7: on the 7th day the light of God bore fruit, or achieved its end point: rest. It is the ultimate end-state of creation. The Creation Week moves toward the heavenly goal of peace and rest, not conflict, and paradise will be restored: “ ‘The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; … and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,’ says the LORD” (Is 65:25).
Day 7 is the 7th cycle and the number 7 symbolizes completion and perfection. Rest is a state of fruit-bearing perfection. We are at rest when we are yoked to Jesus (see Mt 11:28-30), like a branch attached to the vine. And when we are attached to Jesus, we are fruitful (see Jn 15:1-8), bearing fruit to the glory of God.
This perfect condition of rest was marred when Adam and Eve fell from grace. From this point on there would be hostility between the offspring of the serpent and the woman (see Gen 3:15). And so we see her first-born son, Cain, “who was of the evil one” (1 Jn 3:12), killing her second-born son, Abel. The conflict we are experiencing now is a result of sin. At the end of time the conflict the serpent promotes will come to an end, when he and his offspring are defeated, and sin is rooted out of the Kingdom of God.
THE SEVEN FEASTS OF MOSES
This pattern of 1st cycle (starting point), 4th cycle (turning point), and 7th cycle (end point) is also seen in the 7 feasts of Moses. These feasts are a time structure based on Israel’s agricultural year.
The first three feasts occurred on consecutive days in the first month of the Hebrew calendar. The Feast of Passover was celebrated on the fourteenth day of the first month, the Feast of Unleavened Bread on the fifteenth day, and the Feast of Firstfruits on the sixteenth day. They are three distinct feasts that are one (a festal image of the Triune God), and they were collectively referred to as either the Feast of Unleavened Bread (see Ex 12:17), or the Feast of Passover (see Ez 45:21). Luke expressed their inter-relationship as follows, “Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover” (Lk 22:1).
So, the first feast, called Passover or Unleavened Bread, includes Firstfruits, a feast wherein the firstfruits of the barley harvest are offered to God. This is the starting point of the Israelite’s fruit-bearing celebrations.
The fourth feast (the transformational turning point) was the Feast of Weeks, better known to Christians as the Feast of Pentecost. It was celebrated fifty days after Firstfruits and the word “Pentecost” means “fiftieth.” During Pentecost we see a second offering of firstfruits, but this time it was from the wheat harvest. This is reminiscent of “Let there be light,” being followed by “Let there be lights.” The first- and second-phase movements are often similar, but still different.
The offering of the firstfruits of the wheat harvest, was a seed-like expression of worship when compared to its seventh-cycle end point: the Feast of Ingathering. This seventh feast (also called Tabernacles and Booths), was the celebration of the final harvest; this time it was of fruit (pomegranates, figs, etc).
THE PATH TO CHRISTLIKENESS
The seven feasts of Moses are also a spiritual road map, delineating the Path a Christian walks. The first feast, Passover, represents the starting point of our spiritual journey. We are saved from death by the blood of a spotless lamb, symbolizing the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. We are reborn in this first phase and permanently indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
Pentecost, the fourth feast, is a second operation of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is the transformational turning point wherein we are clothed with power from on high to be fruitful in our work for the Kingdom of God. For example, D.L. Moody, a believer in Jesus who was indwelt by the Holy Spirit, later experienced a dramatic outpouring of the Holy Spirit and, after this, his evangelistic preaching began to save thousands of people.
These stages in our Christian walk are covered in my book, The Path to Christlikeness, and you can read a short excerpt of it at the end of this book.
THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE HUMAN RACE
This pattern of a first-cycle starting point, a fourth-cycle turning point, and a seventh-cycle end point, also appears in the history of God’s plan of salvation that unfolds on seven millennial days. The creation of Adam and Eve—the starting point—occurs in millennial “day” 1. This is the birth of the human race. Then, in millennial “day” 4, we have the arrival of Jesus Christ, the transformational turning point of the human race:
- Starting Point: we are born from the lineage of Adam and Eve.
- Turning Point: we are born again, or transformed, through faith in Jesus (Jn 1:12-13, 3:3, Eph 2:8).
- Starting Point: Adam and Eve are creation’s first movement, or the starting point for the human race.
- Turning Point: transforming the children of Adam and Eve into children of God is creation’s second movement: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Cor 5:17, emphasis added).
- Starting Point: from Adam we receive a fallen nature inclined toward sin. Proof of this is no one, other than Jesus, has lived a sinless life.
- Turning Point: from Jesus we receive a new nature inclined toward righteousness, for God’s Spirit indwells us (1 Cor 6:19, 2 Cor 3:3).
- Starting Point: Adam and Eve succumbed to the serpent’s temptations, disobeyed God, and were exiled from Paradise.
- Turning Point: Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, remained obedient, and leads us to Paradise.
The Apostle Paul calls attention to a few of the ways Jesus transforms the starting-point movement of Adam:
"For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. …Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. …The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. … Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven" (1 Co 15:22, 45, 47, 49, emphasis added).
In Paul’s account, there was “the first man,” Adam (the birth of the mortal human race), and “the second man,” Jesus (the Savior who transforms humans into children of God). There is a first-cycle starting point where our life begins and a fourth-cycle turning point where our life is transformed. We now move in a new direction toward a new destination: heaven.
Like other fourth-cycle movements, Jesus’ First Coming will seem small and weak when compared to His Second Coming. For example, during His First Coming Jesus was crucified by Rome. But during the Second Coming He will appear in power and glory, and will destroy the beast—the reconstituted Roman Empire.
THE RAPTURE OF THE SAINTS: 1 – 4 – 7
The rapture of the saints is a historical movement that also appears on this week of millennial days. Enoch was “raptured,” translated, or snatched up into heaven by God toward the end of the first millennial day.
This “rapturing” movement was transformed by Jesus into something new in the turning-point phase. He was raptured, or ascended into heaven, at the end of the fourth millennial day, in His resurrection body.
This new movement (Jesus’ ascension into the heavens in a resurrection body) will grow and achieve its culmination at the beginning of day seven, when hundreds of millions of saints, both past and present, will receive their resurrection bodies (1 Cor 15:50-52), and then will be raptured into the heavens to be with the Lord forever (1 Thes 4:16-17). This rapture-movement is yet another 1 – 4 – 7 pattern.
THE TIME MODEL’S PREDICTIVE CHARACTER
It’s puzzle-solving time. Do you see how this time model has a predictive element that projects into the future?
It works like this: once the turning-point movement arrives in the fourth-cycle, we can now expect to see it grow and achieve its fulfillment in the future seventh-cycle. Since Jesus’ First Coming occurred in the fourth-time-cycle, c. 6 BC, the blueprint of time suggests the much more powerful and glorious Second Coming of Jesus will occur in the seventh-time-cycle. According to the week of millennial days, the seventh cycle begins in 2034.
Do we now have a time for the return of Jesus?
No. Jesus emphatically said no man can know the day or hour of the Second Coming, and I believe everything the Son of God said. Therefore, I also believe Him when He said we can know when His return is near: “So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates” (Mk 13:29).
Doesn’t it make sense that we will know when Jesus’ return is near? If we are into the third year of the beast’s prophesied three-and-a-half-year reign, that ends when Christ returns, will we not know He is near?
Yes, but will we be able to use the duration of the beast’s reign to accurately time the return of Jesus? For example, will Jesus return at the end of the forty-second month (see Rev 13:5), or even more precisely, at the end of day 1260 (see Rev 11:3, 12:6)? [3]
THE APPROXIMATE TIMING OF PROPHECY
We cannot use prophecy to precisely time the return of Jesus, because the timing of prophecy appears to be approximate and not exact. We see this in the historical duration of the Babylonian Captivity. Jeremiah prophesied that the Babylonian Captivity would last seventy-years (see Jer 25:11-12, Dan 9:2) … only it didn’t. The partial captivity of the Jews began in 605 BC, and their freedom from captivity occurred in 538 BC. This means the Babylonian Captivity could have been sixty-six years and a few days in duration, or sixty-eight years at most, but not seventy years. [4]
Perhaps God does not want us to know the precise time when His prophecies will be fulfilled. God seems to be offering us an approximate time schedule with respect to the duration of the Babylonian Captivity. The same appears to be true about the end-date of the beast’s reign. It cannot be perfectly accurate, for if it was, then we would know the exact day of Jesus’ return, and this would invalidate His clear teaching that no one can know the day or hour of His return. The perfect integrity of God’s Word does not allow for contradictions like this.
DAY SEVEN OF THE MILLENNIAL WEEK
Time’s blueprint does suggest Jesus will return at the beginning of the seventh millennial day to inaugurate “the millennium” that completes God’s plan of salvation. And, according to the table of millennial days, the start date of day seven is 2034. However, the dates found in the blueprint of time are, like Jeremiah’s prophecy, approximate. The year 2034 generates the following time window: 2030 – 2038. This window is four years before, and four years after, the 2034 date. Because of this approximate timing, the blueprint of time cannot predict the year of Christ’s return. However, events typically occur on the date generated by the blueprint (e.g., the blueprint generates the date 2034), or within a year or two of it. [5]
So, does this time window (2030 – 2038) give us the approximate time for the return of Jesus?
I don’t think so. At the end of the Book of Daniel there is an obscure prophecy and it produces a date: 2040. I believe this date has significance for these Last Days we are living in. We will look at this prophecy, and the significance of its timing, in the chapter “Apocalypse.” Since this date is generated by God’s Word, it gives the blueprint’s final dates more validity than all of the history we will cover. However, the history we’ll cover will give additional validity to the blueprint’s projections.
COMING UP
Next, we will examine another fractal time pattern in Scripture, and apply our fractal decryption key to it. This will build a large part of time’s blueprint.
I will then give you a preview of the way the history of the United States of America is conforming to this design of time, and we will look at the blueprint’s forecast for the USA toward the end of the book. Will it fall under the One World Government of the beast? Will our constitutional freedoms—like the freedom of speech—be replaced by an Orwellian Ministry of Truth?
We will also examine two key dates produced by this template of time: 2019 and 2029. Many historical processes are unfolding, or will unfold, on or around these dates including something the World Economic Forum (WEF) calls the Great Reset. “The Great Reset: 2030” is a chapter that is devoted to studying what this “reset” is. According to the patterns of history, the year 2030 (3000 years after the death of King David) will be epochal.
Finally, the next chapter will also show us how history honors Jesus, the Son of God. God, through His sovereign power, has ordered the fulfillment of His sacred history to conform to milestones in the life of Jesus, the eternal Word made flesh. This will provide another example of the way the eternal Word shapes time and history.
NOTES
[1] We are living in the 2016-year-long Age of the New Covenant. It will unfold on four 500/504-year seasons. This, and other references to dates and timing, will be made clear in the next two chapters.
[2] At times I will use the actual number, instead of spelling it out. For example, 1 instead of one, or 1st instead of first. In this instance I want to make the numbers 1, 4 and 7 memorable, because they form a pattern we will see repeatedly.
[3] The math: 42 months divided by 12 months, or a year = 3.5 years, and 42 (months) X 30 days (the average number of days in a month) = 1260 days.
[4] If the exile began on January 1st, 605 BC and ended on December 31st, 538 BC, then the exile lasted 68 years. But if the exile began at the end of 605 BC, on December 31, and ended at the beginning of 538 BC, on January 1, 538 AD, then it would have lasted 66 full years (from January 1, 604 to December 31, 539 BC) and two days (December 31st, 605 BC and January 1st, 538 BC).
[5] After scanning the dates generated by the blueprint, and how close they were to the dates when an event actually happened, I found about 75% of the blueprint’s dates and the actual dates were within 0 to 2 years of each other. Around 93% were within 3 years of each other. In this analysis, I did not spend a lot of time developing a methodology to ensure these results achieved 100% accuracy, but I’m certain the results are accurate enough to be a rule of thumb.
CHAPTER FOUR:
THE CONTOURS OF TIME
Starting Point
Turning Point
End Point
THE POETRY OF TIME
Eternity and time are themes that frequently capture the imaginations of poets. In his poem, “Eternity,” Robert Herrick wrote:
"O years! and age! farewell:
Behold I go,
Where I do know
Infinity to dwell.
And these mine eyes shall see
All times, how they
Are lost i’ th’ sea
Of vast eternity."
The passage of time is the theme of countless poems. In “Sailing to Byzantium,” William Butler Yeats likens an old man to a scarecrow (“a tattered coat upon a stick”), who could still exultantly sing and escape at least some of the limitations imposed on him by age:
"An aged man is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing
For every tatter in its mortal dress… ."
Our appreciation of poetry is enhanced through developing a deeper understanding of its structure, its meter and rhyme scheme, its use of metaphors, assonance and the like. The same can be said about time. Once we understand its structure, and begin to see its perfectly constructed contours, we will come away with a deeper appreciation of the way God “has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ec 3:11).
This chapter, and the next one, will draw time’s blueprint. It will require more thought on your part than any of the other chapters. As you read this chapter, remember this: history’s movements have a starting point (1), a turning point (2), and an end point (3). It is as simple as 1 – 2 – 3.
However, as is the case with most simple truths, it is profoundly deep in its application. Therefore, on your first reading of this chapter and the next one, go for the simple 1 – 2 – 3 understanding, and then dive into the history we will begin covering in Part 2. This history will illustrate the structure of time more clearly than anything else. Because of this, some of that history will be covered in this chapter for purposes of illustration. Then, if this subject of time’s structure inspires you, return to these chapters to marvel at the way its complexity coexists with its simplicity.
A FRACTAL TIME PATTERN IN SCRIPTURE
The narrative of history follows three fractal time patterns. We will watch the heroes and villains of this story, the plot twists and endings, conform to these fractal contours of time.
The first fractal we will study is the Jubilee Fractal. We will briefly look at the other two fractals in the next chapter. The Jubilee Fractal is based on the following time fractals found in the Bible:
Because biblical time is fractal, I scaled up the 50-year-Jubilee time pattern and discovered a 500-year time pattern I call the Jubilee Fractal. The way history conforms to this time pattern will show how I did not create it, God did:
Since there are four of these 500-year time patterns in this 2016-year Age of the New Covenant, I call them seasons. [2] After we reach the end of the first 500-year time pattern, or the first season, a second season begins. For example, the first time-cycle of the first season is 70. The first time-cycle of the second season is 570 (70 + 500 = 570), followed by 1070 (70 + 1000 = 1070) in the third season, and 1570 (70 + 1500 = 1570) in the fourth season.
Once I discovered this time pattern the question became, “What date do I extend these time cycles from?” I started with the birth year of Jesus.
THE LIFE OF JESUS: THE INCARNATION
The birth of Jesus was predestined to occur at a specific time. As Scripture tells us: “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman…” (Ga 4:4, emphasis added). Most scholars date the year of Jesus’ birth as being either 6, 5, or 4 BC (see Appendix 1 for why this is). So, I extended the time cycles from all three of these dates before settling on 6 BC.
When you extend a seventy-year time cycle from 6 BC you arrive at 65 AD. If you think you should arrive at 64 AD, because 70 AD – 6 BC = 64 AD, then please go to Appendix 3 to see how this confusing BC/AD dividing line works.
Because this date, 65 AD, is produced by a time cycle, I call it a cycle date. It is different from an “actual” date, or the year a historical event actually occurred. For example, 1492, the year Columbus discovered America, is an actual date.
The rest of the seventy-year time cycles follow the same pattern:
The 140-year time cycle produces the cycle date 135
The 210-year time cycle produces the cycle date 205
The 280-year time cycle produces the cycle date 275, etc.
After a long time, I began to see how historically significant figures were often born on or near a cycle date associated with the birth year of Jesus (e.g., 65, 135, 205, 275, and so on).
This was an interesting development, but I wondered, “What does this mean?” Something compelled me to keep digging to uncover this structure of time.
CRUCIFIXION, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION
I then wondered, “What if this time structure extends from another date? What about the year of Jesus’ crucifixion, resurrection and ascension?” The Bible reveals how the timing of Jesus’ crucifixion was also predestined: “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly” (Rom 5:6, emphasis added).
I extended the time cycles (70, 140, etc.) from what I at first believed was the year of His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension, namely, 30 AD. This date appeared in my book The Template of Time. But after further research, the evidence pointing to 33 AD being the year of Jesus’ crucifixion was stronger. I’ve since settled on 33 AD as the year of these history-shaping events. Nonetheless, because 30 AD and 33 AD are fairly close together, and the blueprint’s timing is approximate, I was able to see how many important people died on, or near, cycle dates associated with the year of Jesus’ death. Again, I wondered, “What does this mean?”
If you extend the 70-year time cycle from 33 AD it produces the 103 AD cycle date. It is a simple exercise in addition: 70 + 33 = 103 AD. (How I arrived at this result is also explained in Appendix 3.) But there was one historical event of epochal significance—the start of the Reformation in 1517—that was not accounted for by this time model. It made me wonder, “Am I missing something?”
THE BAPTISM BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
The year of Jesus’ anointing (c. 29 AD) was another predestined date. Shortly after His Spirit-baptism, Jesus began His ministry saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel” (Mk 1:15, emphasis added). Thus, all three of these dates—the years of His birth, anointing and resurrection—were foreordained in eternity by the sovereign will of God. He then ordered history, to conform to the influence of these dates in ways we will explore. God’s sacred history pays tribute to the life of God the Son. History is literally His story.
When I extended the time cycles from the year of Jesus’ anointing, I produced a new set of cycle dates. I then began to see how kings and emperors were crowned, or anointed with secular power, on or around these dates. And saints were spiritually anointed, or reborn, around these dates as well. Extending the time cycles from 29 AD also produced the 1519 cycle date. Around this year the church in Europe experienced an anointing that changed the course of its history. This outpouring of God’s Spirit during the Reformation revealed truths that had been hidden for over a thousand years.
Finally, extending the 70-year time cycle from 29 AD produces the 99 AD cycle date. Again, simple addition: 70 + 29 = 99. Thus, the first three-date sequence on the blueprint of time is 65 – 99 – 103.
THE THREE HUBS OF TIME
I call the dates of the incarnation (6 BC), the anointing (29 AD), and the resurrection of Jesus (33 AD), the three hubs of time, because all of the time cycles extend from them like spokes in a wheel. These three hubs form another starting-point, turning-point, end-point pattern. As I mentioned earlier, if you understand this pattern, you understand the blueprint of time. It is like the DNA of time’s structure:
Starting Point: Jesus’ birth, c. 6 BC, was the starting point of His life on earth. This “historical movement” was initiated by the Holy Spirit. In the words of Matthew, Mary “was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit” (Mt 1:18). The incarnation, the Word being made flesh, was the starting point of the most important movement in God’s plan of salvation: the arrival of the Christ, the Savior of the World. This starting-point movement could also be called the first operation of the Holy Spirit.
Turning Point: when Jesus’ life entered the turning-point phase He was transformed by a second operation of the Holy Spirit, His baptism by the Holy Spirit. Jesus was thought of as “the carpenter,” (Mk 6:3), and He assumed no other role until His spiritual anointing, of which we read: “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power” (Ac 10:38). Jesus then assumed His predestined role of “Christ,” and “Messiah,” which are Greek and Hebrew words meaning “Anointed.” His Spirit-anointing, c. 29 AD, was a transformational turning point that redirected His life toward the cross.
End Point: this new movement of the Holy Spirit—Jesus’ anointing—bore a rich harvest of spiritual fruit in the events that changed the course of the spiritual history of the world, and all who dwell in it: Jesus’ crucifixion, resurrection and ascension into the heavens, c. 33 AD, the end point of His earthly ministry.
“IT’S NOT WHAT YOU LOOK AT THAT MATTERS, IT’S WHAT YOU SEE.” Henry David Thoreau
I’ve found that when you look at something from multiple perspectives you get a deeper understanding of it. So, let’s take another look at the starting-point, turning-point, and end-point progression:
Starting Point: A historical movement begins.
Turning Point: The movement turns, or changes course. It is transformed or replaced by a second movement.
End Point: The second movement grows and achieves its culmination.
Starting Point: The Crusades begin, a church-state war against infidels, in the first phase of the third season.
Turning Point: The Crusades turn into a church-state war against heretics in the second phase. This war was called the Inquisition.
End Point: The Inquisition grows into the Spanish Inquisition and the Dutch Inquisition in the third phase of the third season.
Starting Point: A person is born.
Turning Point: This person is anointed with power; his life changes course.
End Point: He reaches the summit of power, and/or, the person dies.
The timetable below is the result of extending the time cycles (70, 140, 210, etc.) from the three hubs of time (6 BC, 29 and 33 AD):
JUBILEE FRACTAL, SEASON ONE, 65 – 533
Time Cycle Cycle Phase Three-Date Sequence
70-Year 1st Cycle 1st Phase S: 65 – T: 99 – E: 103
140-Year 2nd Cycle 135-169-173
210-Year 3rd Cycle: 205-239-243
280-Year 4th Cycle 2nd Phase S: 275 – T: 309 – E: 313
350-Year 5th Cycle: 345-379-383
420-Year 6th Cycle: 415-449-453
490-Year 7th Cycle (A) 3rd Phase S: 485 – T: 519 – E: 523
500-Year 7th Cycle (B) 3rd Phase S: 495 – T: 529 – E: 533
I will start by explaining some of the notations. First, let’s look at the first sequence—i.e., S: 65 – T: 99 – E: 103—at the top of the right column, under the heading “Three-Date Sequence.” Each sequence begins with a Starting-point date, or “S” date, and it is designated as “S: 65,” “S: 135,” “S: 205,”etc. The second date in the sequence is the Turning-point date, or “T” date, which appears as “T: 99,” “T: 169,” “T: 239,” etc. The final date of the sequence is the End-point date, or “E” date, that will appear as “E: 103,” “E: 173,” or “E: 243,” etc.
Now let’s watch the way history conforms to the following three-date sequence.
Jubilee, 2nd Phase: (S: 275) – (T: 309) – (E: 313)
Prior to describing an event in history you will always see a subheading like the one above. This will remove the need to constantly reference the fractal tables of dates found in Appendix 3. I will also place the above cycle date, in this instance (S: 275), next to the date when the event actually occurred. For example, Constantine the Great was born c. 274 (S: 275), around a starting-point cycle date. All starting-point cycle dates are associated with the birth year of Jesus, c. 6 BC, and historically important figures are often born on or around these dates.
Constantine was anointed with power in 306 (T: 309) around a turning-point cycle date. All turning-point cycle dates are associated with the year Jesus was anointed with power during His baptism by the Holy Spirit, c. 29 AD. Kings and emperors are often anointed with power on or around turning-point dates.
Receiving imperial power was certainly a turning-point moment in Constantine’s life. It was like a seed that bore the following fruit: Constantine became the ruler of the West Roman Empire following his victory over his rival, Maxentius, at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 (E: 313). All end-point cycle dates are associated with the year Jesus’ ministry on earth was completed, c. 33 AD. The seed planted in the turning-point phase will grow and achieve its culmination on or around the end-point date.
THE SEQUENCE AND THE 1 – 4 – 7 PATTERN
We’ve already encountered the 1 – 4 – 7 pattern in the Creation Week, the seven feasts of Moses and the week of millennial “days.” As with those time structures, the Jubilee Fractal’s 1st cycle is a starting point, its 4th cycle is a turning point, and its 7th cycle is an end point.
Let’s continue with the historical example of the Roman Empire, or fourth kingdom, to watch the way this works in history. The 1st sequence—i.e., S: 65 – T: 99 – E: 103—is the 1st-phase starting-point of the 500-year Jubilee Fractal. It initiates a movement that will take 500 years to complete. For example, the beast’s war against the saints began in 64 AD (S: 65), the year Nero launched the fourth kingdom’s first imperial persecution of Christians. This was the starting point of this apocalyptic war.
When the first season's (65 – 537) turning-point phase arrived (275 – 333), so did the transformational change-agent, Constantine. [3] He would turn the pagan Roman Empire into a “Christian” empire. Every turning-point phase in every season will introduce a transformational change agent. In the second season (565 – 1041) this change agent is Charlemagne. In the third season (1065 – 1545) it is Rudolf of the House of Habsburg. And in the fourth season (1565 – 2049) it will be Napoleon. One could make the weak argument that this is coincidental, but when their lives unfold on three-date sequences, just as Constantine’s did, then how can that be chance?
Later in this book, we will watch Constantine transform the war on all Christians into a war against Christian heretics. This might sound like a welcome change, but in the hands of the “christianized” beast this weapon will generate millions of casualties. In comparison, pagan Rome’s persecutions produced thousands of casualties.
The season’s end-point phase, or third phase (485 – 537), in the Jubilee Fractal is the seventh cycle’s two sequences of dates, or (S: 485) – (T: 519) – (E: 523) and (S: 495) – (T: 529) – (E: 533). In this third phase of culmination the second-phase movement of persecuting heretics will grow in severity, under Emperor Justinian, until it splits the church in two. And the life of Justinian will unfold on a three-date sequence just as Constantine’s did.
Remember to keep it simple. Yes, the three-date sequences have all three phases—a starting point, turning point and end point—as we saw in the life of Constantine, but they accomplish one primary purpose. The first phase (65 – 133) sequences will initiate the fourth kingdom’s prophesied war on the saints. In the second phase (275 – 333) this war will be transformed into a war on Christian heretics. And in the third phase (485 – 537) the war against heretics will grow in intensity until it splits the church in two.
To further illustrate how history follows these timetables I will include the Jubilee Fractal’s fourth season. Two-thirds of this book is dedicated to the history of the fourth season, in part, because the recording of history is much more accurate in this season. But more importantly, the movements in the fourth season are achieving their culmination in our time. And based on the predictive character of this time model, I want to show where the patterns of history appear to be heading and approximately when they will arrive.

THE UNITED STATES ON TIME’S BLUEPRINT
Jubilee, 1st Phase: (S: 1565) – (T: 1599) – (E: 1603)
On the first starting-point-cycle-date of the fourth season (S: 1565), the colonization of the U.S. began with the establishment of its first permanent settlement, St. Augustine. It was founded in 1565 (S: 1565), and we will complete this sequence in the chapter “Sanctuary: The USA.”
As you will see, on or around the X-65 dates (i.e., 65, 565, 1065, 1565) many important and powerful movements in history will begin. Take, for example, the cycle date, S: 1065. It occurs next to 1066, a date that is well known to every schoolboy and schoolgirl in England. In 1066 (S: 1065) William the Conqueror invaded England, and this year marks the birth of modern England and the establishment of one of the most successful monarchies in history. We will not be paying close attention to the history of England in this book, though it is certainly worth studying. Instead, I will spend more time on the continent of Europe and the development and transformation of the fourth kingdom.
Jubilee, 2nd Phase: (S: 1775) – (T: 1809) – (E: 1813)
We now return to the story of the USA and the way it perfectly conforms to the contours of time. The colonization of the U.S. began in the first phase (1565 – 1633). Then, in the transformational, turning-point phase (1775 – 1833), the colonies were transformed into the United States of America. The Battles of Lexington and Concord, in 1775 (S: 1775), marked the starting point of this fight for freedom. The Declaration of Independence, written and signed in 1776 (S: 1775), marked the USA’s birth year.
With regard to the second phase of this three-date sequence—i.e., the “T: 1809” date—we must answer this question, “Is there a second movement, around 1809 AD, that transforms or replaces the first movement, and sends it toward a different destination?” And as we’ve seen with “Let there be light,” and “Let there be lights,” this second movement can be quite similar in appearance to the first movement.
First, let’s set the scene. Great Britain was fighting Napoleon during the second and third phase of this three-date sequence (i.e., T: 1809 and E: 1813). In every war, one of Great Britain’s most important, strategic goals was and is to maintain naval superiority. Naval superiority is the surest way of preventing an army from crossing the English Channel and invading their homeland. This superiority was threatened by the unintended consequences that followed the signing of the Jay Treaty, in 1794, between the UK and the USA.
After the Jay Treaty was signed, the USA’s trade with England exploded, and so did America’s commercial shipping. More U.S. ships required more sailors. Since sailors on the USA’s commercial ships were treated better than they were on English warships, some of the English navy’s sailors jumped ship to sail in the U.S. commercial fleet. To maintain its naval supremacy, England needed sailors so it began to board U.S. ships and impress their sailors into service. Some of these sailors who were forced to sail on British warships were U.S. citizens with documents proving their citizenship. England’s continued use of press gangs sent the loud message, “We don’t care,” and “What are you going to do about it?”
This outrageous disregard for U.S. sovereignty could not be allowed to continue. In 1812 (T: 1809) the U.S. declared war on Great Britain and the Second War of Independence began. [4] It is also called the War of 1812.
The first movement of independence, in 1775, involved the colonies fighting for independence from England’s colonial empire. This was achieved. The second movement was a sovereign nation’s fight to retain this independence and protect its citizens, both on land and at sea. The USA’s fight to retain its independence achieved its culmination when the Treaty of Ghent was signed in 1814 (E: 1813), and ratified in February 1815, ending this war.
I will now recap what we’ve just witnessed. I am probably going too slow for many of you and perhaps too fast for others. But since I don’t want to leave anyone behind, I will continue, for now, the slower pace.
The three-date sequence (1775 – 1809 – 1813) is a second-phase, transformational, fourth-cycle movement. Yes, it has all three elements (a starting point, turning point and end point). But please remember to keep it as simple as 1 – 2 – 3. The history on this three-date sequence is dedicated to achieving one goal: the transformation of the colonies into the sovereign nation named the United States of America. Initiation occurs in the first phase (the colonization of America), transformation occurs in the second phase (the liberation of the colonies and the establishment of the USA), and culmination occurs in the third phase (more on that in a moment).
Let’s now map out this second-phase sequence in the table below.
Starting Point: There is an initiating movement in history.
Turning Point: It is followed by a redirecting second movement.
End Point: The second movement achieves its culmination
Starting Point: The colonial revolt begins at Lexington and Concord in 1775. It is the First War of Independence. In 1776 the USA is born with the Declaration of Independence.
Turning Point: Great Britain treats the U.S. with contempt. It boards its ships and impresses its sailors. The Second War of Independence begins.
End Point: The Treaty of Ghent is ratified. The USA survives its second war with Great Britain and now moves toward its third-phase culmination (occurring in 1985 – 2049).
WE LIVE IN AGE OF UPHEAVAL
The birth of the United States is a second-phase (1775 – 1833), seed-like movement that will grow and achieve its culmination in this third and final phase (1985 – 2049). Does the blueprint of time suggest what that will be?
It does and we will cover that in the chapter entitled “Sanctuary: The USA.” It is a preview that we hunger for, because our times, right now, are very concerning. Revolutionary forces are at work in the U.S., trying to overturn our most important rights, like freedom of speech. These “progressives” (a euphemism for Marxist revolutionaries), are attacking this right through censorship, the threat of a person being cancelled, and other means. During the COVID-19 pandemic, pressure from the Biden administration resulted in the suppression of opinions that differed from the government’s view of what was acceptable speech, or thought.
Here is how a July 4, 2023 ruling from a federal Judge, Terry Doughty, characterized the Biden administration’s suppression of speech, “During the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.’ ”
As grim as things may appear for the U.S., things are much worse in continental Europe, the location of the fourth kingdom.
SEASON FOUR AND THE GREAT RESET
Jubilee, 3rd Phase: (S: 1985) – (T: 2019) – (E: 2023)
Jubilee, 3rd Phase: (S: 1995) – (T: 2029) – (E: 2023)
In the fourth season’s timetable (see above), I highlighted the years 2019 and 2029, because they are mapping out historical movements that are meaningful to our time. Events on and around the third phase’s (1985 – 2049) first turning-point-cycle-date (T: 2019) transformed the world. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), the COVID-19 pandemic, that began in 2019 (T: 2019), introduced a new movement they’ve called “the Great Reset.”
The date set for this Great Reset is 2030 (T: 2029), around the next turning-point cycle date (T: 2029) of the third phase (1985 – 2049). A chapter entitled “The Great Reset: 2030,” will explore the significance of this future event. The blueprint suggests this will be a transformational time for the fourth kingdom and the world. And in the chapter entitled “The Beast: 666” we will analyze why the year 2030 will likely be an important one for the fourth kingdom.
I am sure the WEF, and its allies, believe they are the ones dictating the flow of history. But their plans and actions are governed by a sovereign God who created a structure of time that they too must follow. No one can resist the fulfillment of God’s Word.
COMING UP
In the next chapter we will complete the drawing of time’s blueprint. It will be fast (three pages). I recommend reading it once and moving on. Part Two, which illustrates the way history conforms to this time model, will do more to make this time model easy to understand than will this chapter or the next. Nonetheless, these chapters were necessary, because I needed to show how these tables of dates were not pulled out of thin air. They are based on time patterns encrypted in Scripture.
NOTES:
[1] See Lv 23:15-16 and Lv 25:8-10 for the timing of Pentecost and Jubilee.
[2] There is a 504-year season in the next chapter, and 4 X 504 = 2016.
[3] The end dates of the various phases of the blueprint will become clear after we build the other two fractals in the next chapter (e.g., the date “333” is not found in the Jubilee Fractal, but will appear in the next chapter’s Millennial Fractal).
[4] You may wonder, “Why isn’t the War of 1812 associated with the closer cycle date (E: 1813)?” How the influence of the cycle dates works appears at the end of Appendix 3 where the fractal timetables are also located.
- The countdown to Pentecost is: 7 X 7 days + 1 day = 50 days.
- The countdown to Jubilee is: 7 X 7 years + 1 year = 50 years. [1]
- Jubilee is similar in appearance to Pentecost, but different in scale. The “seven weeks of years” (Lev 25:8), plus one year, progresses as follows:
- 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, and 50 years.
Because biblical time is fractal, I scaled up the 50-year-Jubilee time pattern and discovered a 500-year time pattern I call the Jubilee Fractal. The way history conforms to this time pattern will show how I did not create it, God did:
- Jubilee Fractal: 7 X 70 years + 10 years = 500 years.
- It advances in seventy-year increments, adding ten years at the end:
- 70, 140, 210, 280, 350, 420, 490, and 500 years.
- Its time cycles are similar in appearance to Jubilee, but different in scale: 7 becomes 70, 14 becomes 140, 21 becomes 210, etc.
